Users of KinjeraPay Corp., an Indonesian e-commerce platform will now be able to settle transactions on the marketplace with bitcoin.

In an announcement today, the Indonesian marketplace revealed a partnership with Bitcoin Indonesia, a digital currency exchange that enables buying and selling bitcoin with the local fiat currency – the Indonesian Rupiah.

With the newly enabled feature, users will be able to pay for utility bills, make money transfers and buy products sold on the platform, with bitcoin.

The move to enable bitcoin payments underlines the potential of bringing in the user-base of a growing community to transact and pay for normal bills with the cryptocurrency, for the first time in the country.

Although Indonesia is rarely mentioned in the Western press, the country has a big economy. I'm not sure about the significance of the announcement, because I simply don't know if KinjeraPay is a significant payment provider down there. Could also be small startup. We need a local to clarify these things.

Hopefully in the not to distant future, we will get rid of payment providers, paying utility bills directly with Bitcoin to the providing companies. The fiat conversion is only complicating the process and makes it more expensive. The real power of Bitcoin can only unfold, if it is used as pure cash. So it is crucial that especially companies from the primary sector will embrace it.

But it's still an encouraging step in the right direction.

I start to see more and more e-markets popping out of nowhere recently. It can be very exciting to finally see frictionless commerce  and international trading, on the P2P level as well.

Bitcoin can do this, what hundreds of years of trade negotiations could not.

Every merchant or E-market accepting Bitcoin, grows the network bigger... so we should not puff smoke at it, as if it does not matter. The success of Bitcoin is also seated in it's ability to reach a

wider customer base, than it's competitors... You cannot have a currency token, and no merchant or service willing to accept that token. I am working hard on spreading the good news and advantages

of Bitcoin to potential merchants.. so this is always good news, when you see things like this happening.  Roll Eyes

What's that supposed to mean?
