The most that I can get out of my Sapphires is 660Mh/s. My Gigabytes will run up to 675 - 690 Mh/s.
Typical rule of thumb for bitcoin mining is: .6 * Clock Speed in MHz = Hash rate

I just found a thread that posts hash rates so based on that I would expect a rate of 700-730 mhash for this model without over stressing it.

I just purchased the Sapphire 7970. Overclocked to 1,000mhz with AMD powertune with BOOST (whatever that means ..can anyone explain?) with a view to mining.
In the Philippines there are no 7990's so this 7970 cost approx US$450. There are few miners here so there is no local source that can offer advice.
1 what mhash should I get from this as it stands?
2 What improvement could I get from it and what should I do to get this improvement?
3 By altering factory settings does it bring other problems , like more frequent crashing?
