The links aren't really removed when you do that. Reload the page and you'll see them again.

This button: 
allows you to edit your posts inline with the topic. However, if there are URLs in the post, it strips them out. To replace them,you click the regular edit button: 
and simply save the post. HIT REFRESH. No need to retag the URLs.
