Hi all,
I'm curious to get your interest in this Venetian Ducat. This famous 99% pure gold coin was the de facto currency of Europe for over 500 years. Each beautiful coin features the reigning Doge of Venice, their chief ruler, kneeling before Saint Mark. On the reverse side is Christ with a dedication written along the edge of the rim. Uniquely among currencies the Venetian ducat never saw devaluation. A ducat minted in 1790 had exactly the same amount of gold, 3.545 grams, as one minted in 1290. This alone makes the Ducat one of the most unique currencies in the world.

This particular Ducat comes from the reign of Doge Francesco Loredan, 1752-1762. This is a very fine coin with minimal wear and a beautiful luster in the sunlight.

I very much look forward to hearing the extent of interest that you all might have in this coin, so let me know!
