270 (non-X) = $180 = 490 kh/s = 2.72 kh/s per dollar
7950 = $300 = 750 kh/s = 2.5 kh/s per dollar

Of course, you'd need more of the 270s to get the same overall hashrate than the 7950s; more risers, more motherboards. Also don't forget about power consumption, additional PSUs.

The 270s run nicely on 5 or 6 card rigs on only 1 1000~1050 watt PSU.

I was able to source 50 7950's today at $300 each + tax and shipping to ca. I would like to move on this asap if anyone is interested please pm me for more details. I would like buyers looking to get 10+ to make it a litte more simple.

Note, scrypt ASIC in initial $/KHs investment moved very close to GPUs. Given much lower Watt/KHs ASIC is about to kill GPUs.

I'd be interested in buying many 270Xs , if they are the right price (less than 200$) and delivered to UAE .
i have access to electricity as cheap as 1.5cents/kwh , and i have over 300 amps of 220V .
we've already bought 50x 290 + 60 7950 , i guess 270 is a good bang for the buck !.

Nice one man, do let us all know what they reply. If they're legit perhaps we can organize a group buy for those beasts.
The 7990 would be the best card to get until they come out with a dual chip R9 290x...  But I haven't seen any anywhere but eBay and a few small e-tailers and at insane prices every time I looked.  The Ali Baba link looks sketchy at best.  Only non-reversible payments and no feedback or Ali Baba site inspection.  Have you tried contacting them to get a price?

I contacted one of them with this message:
"Hi,

I'm interested in buying several Radeon 7990 video cards and am in contact with many other people that would be interested in buying several more each.  I don't have a full count on quantity yet but would be surprised if it's less than 30 if the price is right and would be very interested in getting your price quotes and brands you are offering.  If you have different price points for different quantities please give me a list and we'll try to get as many orders as possible.  Also interested in what kind of payment terms you will accept.  Many of the people involved have been scammed out of money buying items that never shipped so we are an understandably nervous bunch and would need some way of secure payment, possibly an escrow service or American Express card payment to assure that we are not sending our hard earned money out without the guarantee that we will get what we ordered.  "

We'll see what happens.

Everything I have read here on this forum has shown it to be about 50/50 for legit and scam.
People seem happy with the buyer protection but it can be slow to recover their money.
Also a big chunk of advice is to check the sellers feedback and such.
It does look too good to be true but not sure.

Anyone in the mood to get in touch and check if any of these listings are legit http://www.alibaba.com/products/F0/radeon_7990.html seems too good to be true but who knows.

I'm pretty new to mining, but I have a few R9 290s that seem to be good bang for the buck miners if you can get them at a reasonable price.  The 290x is a bit faster thought so if we can get those it would give us the biggest bang per PCI slot.  The way to figure it is figure how much hashing power you expect per dollar on the card with a slight weighting toward the higher power cards because you can only get so many in each PC.  So with lower power cards you cost per killahash goes up due to the need for more PCs and thus more electricity to run them.  My head hurts too much to do the math at the moment, but it's really all about the price of the card.  Whatever card gives the most bang for the buck is the one I'm sure we could all agree on.

I'm currently running 3 290xs, 2 290s I got on deals, a 7970 I got on a deal, and my 3 old 6970s and a5870. I'll have to add another mining PC if I add many more cards, ?I already have to run a heavy duty power cord to the bedroom I keep my miners in because I blow the breaker if I don't. The Sapphire Tri-X 290Xs are outstanding because they have an excellent cooler on them that is fairly quiet. (It stays about 20 degrees cooler than my other 290x without much noise at all)  They are great if you mine on your main working PC since you can stand to be in the same room with them.  They also overclock well, but I've found that you don't always get more hashing by raising the clock, sometimes you get less, seems you have to find the right combo of GPU clock and Memory clock, but I'm still experimenting there.  I just got the cards earlier this week. They are very long though and won't fit in older cases, but since most of us will have to run on risers to get any air to them that isn't a huge deal.  The reference design coolers on the 290s suck.  The temps are always near 95c and they sound like a hair dryer.  Happily I have those in my basement that I hardly ever go down to.    Grin

I've read that the 280xs are good bang for the buck miners too, but I don't have one of those yet.

The margins on this hardware are non-existent, no matter the volume. Good luck with whatever you go forward with, but I would be willing to bet a few coins that it is a waste of time and effort.

You probably didn't bother to ask on the price on those 7 7950's did you? Bet it's over $350-400 bucks. If you order 100, if they were even available, I'd bet you'd save less than $10 ea.

$337 is what I was told. I stopped by today because I was going to buy them but she was already closed and Ill have to wait till Monday.
I cant imagine that a retail store would carry an item that they make a $10 mark up on when the product costs over $300 but Im not in the electronics business so I cant say for sure. When I have to pay out a vendor or use my credit at a distributor I expect to make at least 12% when dealing in wholesale. Especially if I have to house the products, once again I dont deal with electronics for a living I deal with shit (literally).

Also I was not trying to make a tun on this I am simply trying get some deals here and pass them along to the community. I do just fine at my day job this is just a hobby for me. Thats why I was trying to start small here and keep it simple so that it does not consume to much of my time. If that becomes the case then I will simply pass on the opportunity but I would still like to explore the option before giving up.

Not so sure about that...the exact same vid cards I bought before Christmas have increased in price by 40% so someone is taking some cream.

With that being said, I am getting enough LTC to convert to 1BTC in about 6 weeks with 3 x R9 280X's.  $1500 of ASIC gear does about the same thing.

I am thinking that the reason a group buy may not work is because there is no motivation to sell these cards any cheaper...they are worth what they are worth.

So today I stopped in to talk to my local computer shop and spoke to them about contacting their wholesale source on parts. The owner is a customer of mine and we have done some great business in in the past. She was not aware of what mining was in the slightest, after a brief expiation she sounded genuinely interested in helping our cause.  She told me that she would contact her wholesale distributors and inquire about getting a bulk discount. I suggested she look into 280x's and 7950's (she found me 7 7950's instantly) to see what the minimum order would be to get a break in price per unit.

What I would like to know for ya'll is what cards specifically I should ask her for and what the acceptable price per unit would be for everyone.  I told her that I would take at the minimum of 50 cards at first to try and see if I can make this work. This means that I would be putting up a huge part of my capital to make this happen and honestly I cant cover the whole order (if she finds the cards at all) and that I would have to move on this asap.

I think we should try to agree on one specific card to order to make it the least complicated as possible.  Keep in mind this lady had no idea what I was talking about when I told her I wanted to mine with a GPU.

I am open to suggestions on how to move forward with this project and would love to make it happen. I am going to try to convince her to open a bitpay account so if this does move forward we can pay her in btc and she can pay the wholesaler. I would love some input for ya'll on this so I can do my best to make this happen for all of us.

Where are you getting them for under $200?!

Local computer stores. I just bought 4 from one (and depleted his stocks). But there's a bunch more where they came from. So I have on order a few more, just have to wait a bit.

Damn man good deal!  I tried scouring the local smaller computer stores around here last month but they were all sold out of anything worth a damn.  Might have to see if they replenished their stock before placing my next Newegg order.

Microcenter is always a great place.

I want a few dozen Sapphire 270 Dual-X. Take note, 270, not 270X. I can currently get it below 200 USD, so if your price is significantly lower than that (including shipping) then I'll order from you a few dozen of those GPUs.

Where are you getting them for under $200?!

I was thinking about using those in a couple rigs I am about to build, but that was when Newegg had a $30 rebate and I could have got them for $179 (after rebate)

Now I only see them for $219 so I decided on using the 280x instead.

He has not a bad deal just not what we are looking for.

No it's not. You're selling complete mining rigs and shares for the same. I'd rather just get decent pricing on GPUs. Your choice of hardware setup for the rigs is not up to par with my standards. I'd never use smoke master nor Roswell ripple master nor unpowered ribbon risers.

Working on getting quotes now from a few additional places. My first round of factory-direct E-mails seemingly died off. I imagine most factories are about at 100%, so I'm working on a few other places to do a GB from.

Thanks for the update!  Definitely looking forward to hearing more info when you receive it.

If you could get cards at good prices I'd be in for a lot. It's funny how hard it is to buy gpus right now!

Oddly, I'm interested in a couple as... GPU's..... LTC has made buying a AMD card for desktop usage impossible.

Pair of something like 290 / 290X's?

For those that don't know Benny, I just want to say that he is very professional and can absolutely be trusted with this sort of thing.  I'm a shareholder in BAH and his handling of the closing of LitecoinGlobal was perfect.  He kept shareholders informed every step of the way and I'm sure that is exactly how he will handle this GB.

Im interested but delivery time is going to be critical for me.

If between now and early Jan Im in for ~$500US or 0.5BTC, if late Jan Id be in for $2,000US or 2.0BTC.

If the buy isnt setup and expecting shipment by end of january Id just order from an Etailer at normal price.

I highly doubt you can get the cards. I say this as a guy working for a major business with tax ID numbers and now resale licenses, and I was talking to major distributors like two weeks before the latest bubble, LTC was still like $4. Newegg does not have a $50 markup on a GPU, more like $10 at the most. Most distributors couldn't get stock, like 60 cards of stock, and this was all before the bubble! The prices I was getting on 280x cards (only ASUS could deliver, with the massive Direct-CU 3 wide heatsink for $320 something. Sapphire would not commit to anything, and MSI was not responding. This was through several distributors, ASI distribution, D&H, Ingram, and a few others.

Check my past posts, but more importantly the timestamps if you doubt me.

Depends on how fast delivery will be.  With dedicated scrypt machines coming out soon (hopefully), gpu mining may not be viable unless rigs are up and running very quickly.

Specs of the card would need to be figured out as well, since certain cards do much better than others due to mfg specific implementations that are beyond the scope of the reference design.

I agree completely.

I would be interested and yes I agree with aznatama, there are even differences in the same product from the same manufacturer.

Example: The infamous PowerColor 7870 Tahiti LE there are two different memory modules used, Hynix and Elpida. I have found the Hynix is normally on an older SN card and is good for 415 to 425 kh, the Elpida is 370 to 390.

Hi guys,

Ben from BuyAHash.com

I am curious about this, as I've been in talks with a few people. Stores are mostly sold out of GPUs, or there are limits on what you can buy. I may have a way to purchase cards direct from the factory. The cards wouldn't be labeled nor have official warranties, but they are from OEM manufacturers like MSI, Sapphire, and the like.

The idea would be to maybe go in and purchase 500 - 1000 to negotiate a favorable price. I am not sure what the actual costs are going to be, but they'd be below NewEgg prices, but wouldn't include the AMD promo cards. My estimate (and please do not quote me) would be about $250 + S&H per GPU in the US. Payments would be via crypto and credit cards.

Would this be something that BitcoinTalk users would be interested in?
