This is just getting crazy now. Next, my cat will want to offer a mining bond. (And I don't even have a cat!)

Why would you pass it up I have been doing the math on these offers and most are in the range of 2-4x the equipment costs in exchange for promise of hashing power. The only one I have seen less except maybe this one is by Inaba where he prices in 15% only over the costs of the hardware plus you get option to own the hardware if you so desire too included in that pricing, the best deal out there.
You do need to account for the running costs as well if you buy the equipment. The bonds are free to run forever. That's got to be worth something. How much? Depends on your view of the future.

He's been on a holy war against gigavps for a week or two now. This has all been said and ignored several times before  Huh

Holy war yeah right that is what they call pointing out the math on these deals now is it? AND BTW just where did I mention him in that post?

That is asinine.

A 1 MH/s bond should pay out 1 MH/s not 0.75 MH/s.  If you can cover your costs for 0.2 BTC per 1 MH/s then .... I don't know RAISE your price.

A 1 MH/s bond (which is really 0.75 MH/s) @ 0.2 BTC is the same thing as a REAL 1 MH/s bond @ 0.267 BTC.

+1

I'd be interested in 0.2 BTC per 1 MH/s.

I would not be interested in 0.2 BTC per .75 MH/s.

Gigamining had it right with the issuance of 1 BTC per 5 MH/s.  That's about as steep as I'd ever be willing to go.  Otherwise it's a pretty lousy investment (not for you, of course).

Sometimes I really think that people are convincing themselves so desperately that they're making money when they clearly are tossing it out the window.  But instead, they think to themselves, "Wow!  That was a mighty toss!"

Ad astra.
Would 75% operator cut mean that you only pay out 75% of earnings or that you keep 25% of these bonds (500 MH/s) to yourself?

As opposed to the gigavps that kept 50% from his proposal seems like good deal if the case.

From the wording in his post, I don't think that's what he's talking about. I think he means that he would keep 25% of the MH/s profit for each share - effectively, a 1 MH/s share would net the share purchaser 0.75 MH/s.

pay out 75% of earnings. and i'd buy some for myself. 0.2/MHps is pretty close to cost for gpu hashing power so the cut would be necessary

this is purely hypothetical right now, more research needed. just seems that with zero leccy costs and good MHps/$ available right now from 5xxx's on ebay, might be worth investigating

I'm lucky enough to live in an area with almost zero electrical costs.

Wondering how much interest there would be in a 0.2 to 0.25 BTC / MHps bond on GLBSE.

Would be small to start, say 2 GH/s, purely GPU Radeon 5 series, with 25% operator cut.

Thoughts?
