The interesting part of the poll is not how many people are "right" or "wrong" about Bitcoin, but seeing what the public's perception is at this time.

A year ago a poll like this would have shown much lower numbers for the "Yes" answer, and probably the most popular answer would be "What the heck is Bitcoin?"

Grandma may not know anything about Bitcoin, but if she sees the "Bitcoin accepted here" logo enough times, she's going to realize that it is a currency, at least to some people if not for her.  Thus the perception changes over time.

After visiting some crypto forums, it's hard to continue to believe that only intelligent people are involved with bitcoin.  Actually, it's hard to believe that there are even very many intelligent people involved with bitcoin.

Half of these people have the communication skills of nigerian 419 scammers at best... and many seem to have similar intentions.  It's amazing to me that any of them are even able to copy and paste an address to receive stolen or begged-for coins at.

This is the land of wolves now & you're not a wolf
I bet some of the people that answered that poll may not even know what an "investment vehicle" is...

people can give anything they want value.  A commodity with a fixed supply will have a set value based on supply and demand, just like gold, silver, oil, coffee, or whatever. My favorites are platinum and palladium.

Just because someone voted that anything can have value, doesn't mean there's general acceptance.. for the most part people are about as familiar with crypto currencies as they are about buying platinum or palladium bullion... basically a very minute percentage of awareness at this point, even after media attention which has somewhat disappeared as of late.

This whole bitcoin thing is basically an INTJ power user, internet surfing person driven technology right now, which has been usurped by car salesmen like scammers who realize they can profit from people's ignorance.

I think it shows we are on the cusp of general acceptance. Already have 40% of computer users onboard. That's pretty good!

People don't know what they talk about.
It's like asking my mom what she thinks about SHA256.
