The restriction aren't that strict anymore.
You can pm after your first post (aka now) and you need to wait 4 hours to get out of newbie jail

Hi, I'm new to this forum but not to bitcoin. I've been playing around with it (take it to be whatever you want) since the source first popped up. Sure wish I had kept my original stash of coins 
On to the problem. I purchased a share on a group buy, and have no way to inform the group buy organizer, or post in the thread to make it known that I just paid for a share. I can't even send a private message.
I know spam is a problem, and scammers are another, etc, etc... but this is kind of... going overboard with the restrictions.
