I'm brand new to this stuff, what seems to be the most popular way to put cash into your Bitcion wallet?

Bit Instant is very unreliable. I don't use the feature to send to a bitcoin address but I keep hearing about it being down all the time.

Yep, I'm using U.S. currency and the  BitInstant site Blockchain navigates to when depositing cash.

I've just opened up my very first wallet on Blockchain and deposited 50 bucks no problem a few days ago, but now when I tried to do it again it says Invalid exchange.  What does that even mean?  Huh Anyone else having a problem with this site?

Blockchain.info/wallet uses external partners for making it possible to buy bitcoins.

Was this the BitInstant/moneygram (U.S.) form, or UK form, or what currency?
