Anyone know any recent successful ICOs that might go this direction?

Tierion node registration is opening again next week.  I believe only need 5000 TNT which is a couple thousand dollars but not everyone is selected.

In my observance an opinion, I don't think masternode are any better than investing on altcoins. As more and more people look for the profit from them, the profit gradually decreases. And decrease in profit would ultimately cause the lose in price of the coin hence a loss in principle too.

https://masternodes.pro is the home for comparing masternode coins.
As you hold and earn at the same time, masternode is one of the most secure investment.
And DASH one of the most popular among them is the first choice of most and for the obvious reasons.

I use it too.

Op should also take a look there : https://masternodes.online

Investing in a Masternode is worth, but be careful, there are lots of scam projects that create coin with masternode. So make sure to pick the right one.

An idea I've had for awhile, any coin you would recommend?

Look into project that are planning to have masternodes but don't actually have it released yet.  That's the way to pick up the coins cheap before prices rise.

Wouldn't the ROI go down over time as more and more people start up masternodes? I'm curious about the economics behind them. And what are the masternodes being used for in practice, besides locking coins?

There are few altcoins with a good masternode reward, such as Tokugawa (TOK), Solaris (XLR), LindaCoin (LINDA), etc.

But these coins are kinda expensive now, so I think you should try to find an ICO which offer a masternodes feature, while at the ICO, I believe the price shouldn't be that expensive. Try to do your own research!!

I hope you find a good one Smiley
