lets say you had $1000 to invest. the wise thing would be

example 1:
buy 500 fruit of the loom T-shirts for $1 each (keeping $500 for delivering). sell them for bitcoins at a $3 bitcoin value.
that way your $1000 is spent buying stock and delivery charge to customers. and you now have $1500 worth of bitcoins.

then use that to sell $1000 of bitcoins. and rinse and repeat. keeping $500 worth of bitcoins per repeat

example 2:
find a upcoming service that you see as bringing alot of benefit to the community. buy into it as a partnership, then reap the rewards once its live.

example 3:
put the money on the markets, buy low sell high.

we need more people doing things like example 1/2 and less of the example 3..

each 'investment' has its risks so investigate which niche suites you best and what to use the funds on.

Please don't "invest" in bitcoin.
If you are going to buy some, find some kind of project that interests you that you can use them for. Smiley
If you want to make a profit out of buying-> holding-> selling bitcoins, you can end up either euphoric and rich or downright depressed and poor depending on wheter you bought them on a peak or minimum. The market is very volatile atm, and as long as people hold on to their BTC it wil stay that way. Bitcoin needs to circulate to work.
If you buy some, there are a lot of cool things you can do with it though. Buying stuff at a cheaper price, paying your friends for goods/services, drinking a beer, starting your own project involving this revolutionary technology.

If you want to buy some you have a couple of options.
Online trade houses
mtgox.com
btc-e.com

Offline escrow service
localbitcoins.com

Or find someone you trust that has bitcoin and trade with them. Wink
