Speaking of altcoins, they may be a shortcut  to BTC if you ride them right.
At the moment i'd say LTC and possibly XRP have some nice upside potential.

I'm not saying you should put 100% of your capital there.
Probably 20-30% and for a short time ( few weeks ).
As soon you're in good profit sell them for BTC.

you say you want to have 2-3 BTC in other post so it is 12,000$
it is so risky to put 13,000$ in BCH , ETH so best is to keep only 2-3 BTC and know more about bitcoin and altcoins and start your exchange service here

Bitcoin all the way. The fork was cancelled/postponed, and alts have started to migrate back, so you could get bitcoins for cheap. You could put a few thousands on ETH, but bitcoin is still a safer bet. BCH is not a good investment in my opinion.

So I am planning on putting 25,000 USD to Buy cryptocurrencies  to hold for long term. Is it a bad time to invest in those crypto-currencies?

if its right time, whats your suggestion ? Buy bitcoin / ethereum / Bitcoin Cash / Ripple ? mixed or just one? how much of each ?

is it good to wait until bitcoin fork ( 15 november ) or not ?

i remember the time i had 100 BTC and i sell them just 30,000 USD, i dont want to lose the next chance, so i need to invest

Fork is already postponed so you need to rethink your options:

1. Bitcoin - for me its the best choice among the coins you have mentioned, You said that you have 10 BTC before, but you are not a believer that's why you sold. Now is the perfect time to get it while is it still cheap. Maybe around 50-60% of your total capital is a good start. But remember you should be on it for the long term.

2. ETH - for altcoins I would recommend this coins as well. But again, it's been a roller coaster ride for ETH this year. Also good for long term.

3. BCC/Ripple - not sure of those, if you are planning for a pump and dump and take home profits, then maybe this is a better choice. Just for short term only, you don't want to be trap when their is a dump so be careful.

Thats a good amount. Since that it still holding he throne as the king of cryptocurrency and base on its stability, I would prefer bitcoin. But if you were asking for my opinion of how much will you invest, its up to you then. You can do it yourself. Invest in how much you can afford to lose.

If you want to see your investment gaining profit fast, I suggest you put all your money on Bitcoin, since Bitcoin has a larger market than others, however you want to invest you money among the four, i suggest to split your money and do not invest all at the same time, make sure that when you enter your investments, the price is low, do not be impulsive. For me, I would put more in Bitcoin, then on ethereum, then Bitcoin cash and lastly on ripple, I would rather want to see having a lot of coins as of now than seeing the value, since time will come those four might be called as high as Bitcoin today.
Yes that Bitcoin is currently much more attractive than others. Increased bitcoin prices make us get a chance to gain bigger profit. Right now is the right momentum because we can see that the bitcoin price movement is getting positive sentiment. Make sure we buy lots of bitcoin before the end of the year because of many predictions and speculation that next year bitcoin prices will increase much higher.

Do not put all your money in a single coin, of the four options that you give the only one I will not invest a single dollar is bitcoins cash, I have my doubts about ripple as well but I think it has a future, however you are not going to become rich overnight by investing in those coins since all of them are right at the top, so I would invest 8k in Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ripple and I would invest 1k in an ico and roll the dice.

All four of them belong to very best of the crypto currency list and it would be suggested that investing in all of them will be the best and if by any chance it's bought and sold at the right time, then consider yourself as one of the few lucky people. Better wait for November 15 as this is more important than bitcoin gold fork and this one is rather legit one.

Now is not the time to invest. Bitcoin is in an undefined state. Nobody knows what will happen after the fork. It is possible that the price will fall. New coins are now at the bottom and they do not deserve more trust to them to invest. I recommend you to wait until next year when the situation becomes clearer.

Surely you regret not kept these 100BTC and have value of 700 000+$ today, but it is never late for buying if you have time to wait few years to make some profit. If I'm at your place without thinking too much I would invest most of the money in BTC,let's say 70-80% and the rest in altcoins.

There is a possibility that there will be price correction after fork so for that reason it may be better to wait for the investment. But on the other hand if you buy before fork you will get same amount of new created coins and make some extra profit. If you decide on this move be sure to be in control of your private keys,or to keep your coins on exchange which will give you new coin after fork.

to find the answer to your question take some pen and paper or use an excel spreadsheet. you say you want to invest long term so take a look at the price at least a year ago. for each of these coins start writing down their prices each month and see how much your $25000 could have been worth today if you invested in each of them.
but most importantly try to see how long it took them to give you that profit and also check to see how far away we currently are from the ATH of each of those coins.

for example a year ago bitcoin was $800-$900 and now it is $7100 and each month it was rising consistantly. the price didn't get here in 1 month and the ATH is not far away it was reached acouple of days ago and we are still near it (7550).

ethereum for example was worth 0.01BTC a year ago. it is now 0.04BTC but the ATH is far far away at 0.15BTC months ago and price has been falling ever since. and the ATH was reached in about 2 months not consistent strong rise over the year.

this method should give you a good guideline about what is good for long term and what is good for short term investment.

The investment we are doing right now I think it's best to look at the Conditions. currently Bitcoin has a very good growth rate so I think choose Bitcoin if we want to make a profit. Many people believe that Bitcoin can change his life much better. conclusion that Bitcoin is currently much better than other Coin. Make the best of it as soon as possible because the momentum will not come again.

Now is the best times to buy any coins including bitcoin that many people are thinking it is at the overbought angle of the trading circle. We have to accept the reality that bitcoin and others crypto currencies are still at the accumulated face of  the trading if you study the chart very well and using volume indicators to know the mind of traders. Ripple is good and if you buy ripple now the assurance of get millionaire of dollars from you investment of $25,000 in the next 10 years from now is there.

OP, just buy and hold Bitcoin. There is no other cryptocurrency that has good prospects for long term investing. But as always, wait for the dip before buying.

I believe the dip will come after the hard fork when the short term traders start taking profit, around November 15.

Mixed it between Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BitcoinCash, (50%BTC, 30%ETH, 20%BCH) I think this is better to get a profit opportunity and be able to cover each other's risks. It's better spreading it (make some investments) to stand guard on the risks to be gained rather than just focusing on just one coin till be overconfident to gain profit just in one coin only. Just doing it now do not wait fork I guess, but it's all up to you friend and I just give little suggest to you about that, Good luck to you!

You can start investing to some alts because their value drops few weeks ago and may soon goes up after the hard fork Ethereum is good you can also try ICO's if you want it is believe that these tokens will have a good pricing after the fork. You can still choose to invest in bitcoin because it is always a good choice and surely will give a higher chance of success either you choose from this things one thing is sure crypto currency investment will give a promising return.

its always a good time to get into crypto in the long term. A mixed portfolio is always better then one investment, it may reduce returns but it decreases risk. For BTC I would wait for the fork and watch the trend after that.

Investment could differ from person to person. Priority needs to be that first is your country supporting it if yes then only invest. Because you may be investing for along term and say in between your country decides to ban it and you have to sell it might e value of btc would be down at that time so you end up making a loss. So ideally its a good investment for long run but based on various conditions for you it could be deiced if it was worth or not.

i would stay away from Ripple and Ethereum if i were you. at least for a while until their dumping stops and the pumps begin. but i am mostly an altcoin trader and i'd like to think i know what i am doing when i buy these altcoins. if you are new, it is best that you stick to bitcoin only and not to think about investing in any altcoins at all. try sticking around and watching the charts of these altcoins in long terms and see how long does it take for them to go up and how long to come down. then think about investing in them.

i excluded BCH intentionally because BCH is currently on a pumping spree which can become even bigger soon as the SegWit2x fights heat up. and in that case there would be a lot of short term profit to be made Grin

if its right time, whats your suggestion ?
in crypto-currencies? yes
in bitcoin? no.
since you want a long term investment then invest all of it in bitcoin. you can buy slowly not all at  once. buy the dips for example.
the time is always right to buy bitcoin and hold for long term.

Quote
Buy bitcoin / ethereum / Bitcoin Cash / Ripple ? mixed or just one? how much of each ?
you said you want long term so only bitcoin.
all the rest are good/excellent investments for short term or in other words if you are a trader. if you look at their histories, they get pumped in a month or less then it is all downhill from there. so you may buy now, they get pumped 3x and since you are holding long term they come down in next 6 months and in a year the price will be lower than what you bought again and you lose money.

Quote
is it good to wait until bitcoin fork ( 15 november ) or not ?
hard to say. it can go both ways. you can wait for a dip and buy some now, wait for another dip and buy some more and wait for the fork and the possible dip and buy some more until you are out of money and then hold.

It is good, as long as if you are believe there will be a correction after the bitcion fork. But in my speculation if that was actually true. But to buy the bitcoin will become an important reason for the majority of the crypto users caused by we will be getting the b2x coin from the segwit2x hardfork. You will get free money and you will be able to increase your portfolio amount.
Sorry for your loses to sold all of your bitcoin @$300 for each.

Your choices is great, i recommend that put much higher capital in bitcoin because it can be used like as fiat and you can easily withdraw if you need money for emergency cases. And then divided it to remain coin you want to invest i am sure you will get good profit in the future.

Here's how I see it:
  • An investment in BTC is (right now) a bet that transaction scaling can be solved mostly off-chain, and/or a bet on the power of network effects (more likely to be adopted?) and mature code (less buggy?).
  • An investment in BCH, by comparison, is a bet that transaction scaling can be solved mostly on-chain, but that Segwit2x will fail.
  • An investment in ETH is a bet on Proof of Stake (by way of Casper), and/or on smart contracts.
  • An investment in XRP is a bet that major stakeholders can be prevented from flagrantly misbehaving by social - rather than technical - pressures. (Ripple's double-spend protection works based on individually-curated "these stakeholders wouldn't collaborate to defraud me" whitelists.)

I think energy scarcity and global warming mean the coin of the future will have to be Proof of Stake, one way or another, and smart contracts have always excited me. So I like ETH as a long-term bet.

But I also like BTC's first-mover advantage.

Your priorities, and your beliefs about the outcome of those "bets", may be different from my own. Smiley

is it good to wait until bitcoin fork ( 15 november ) or not ?
If you are going to buy into BTC, I would recommend getting in before the fork, mainly so that you don't have to guess whether Segwit2x will be adopted or not; you'll get your coins' value either way.

id say that its better to buy altcoins now such as bitcoin cash, etherium, ripple because they are pretty cheap these days but dont buy bitcoin yet rather wait for it until the fork subsided for a possible dip then buy if there a significant price drop. its better  if you can mixed or dived your capital to each of them for a better profit. dont put your eggs on one basket to avoid lossing it all in a single wrong move.

Nobody can tell you what to do definitively. But what we can advise is to spread your funds over multiple investments. It’s better to play safe unless you’re solely opting for higher gains which involves higher risk.

The best thing you can do is just try to use that money only to buy bitcoins, that is the best desicion that you can make at the moment. It has been prooved that bitcoin has been the only one who rised a lot during the last few months, and you can check it by yourself.
It was below $600 at the beggining of this year, and now it is between $6900 and $7000 each bitcoin, isn't it very crazy? buy as much as you can, it will go up by a lot of money as soon as possible.

You might be able to buy bitcoin after the fork at discounted rate, so yeah wait until the fork(i want to buy some too after the fork Smiley). also buy only BTC and ETH, stay away from BCH/ripple(just my suggestion).

Why not buy now at incoming bottom and wait till you get segwit2x coins, then dump segwit2x to buy more btc

You're probably best of waiting after the fork. Many people here and others on other forums are predicting a small crash after the fork, just as we saw with BTG. Now, don't take my word as truth -- It's a suggestion that I will probably follow as well.

Bitcoin's rise is similar to a bubble (at least for the time leading up to this fork). People are buying in order to get more of that forked coin. Keep this in mind when you purchase!

Bitcoin will bring youthe most profit from all those coins, but it is expansive to buy now. If you would be on your place I would share my money between all those coins. The remining one really cost not so much now and you easily can buy big amount of coins, which are also popular nowadays and can bring you good profit in the future, but I would more say that it is long term investment.
