mining is best when you do it on one or two cards that you already have for gaming Wink

Depends on your price of electricity, how long you will have it running, initial investment and hashrate! I'd say go for it!!

If anybody knew for certain whether it was worth it, it wouldn't be worth it because difficulty would skyrocket.

It all depends on a number of factors:
- Price of electricity
- Price of the rig
- Mining efficiency of the rig (kWh/MH)
- Future difficulty of Bitcoin
- Future price of Bitcoin

You can only predict the last two as nobody knows for sure where they're going.

I had some mining rigs and switched them off last November after running without profit for over 2 months. I was able to liquidate the components for a fair % of their original purchase price, and overall made a fairly substantial profit (> 20% in 6 months). YMMV.

.09 cent .

That's what I pay during the summer...I've seen a lot worse and people still are profiting.

I'm looking at this too. For profit, cheap electricity and parts are key. In the spreadsheet change the value from 50 BTC to 25 per block (end of this year). Then, with GPUs, you'll mine for the sake of keeping bitcoin going.

do you guys think it is worth buying a rig solely for bitcoin in long term?

This depends on many factors. I recommend looking at http://bitcoinx.com/profit/ to see what time frame you're seeing break even. I would go with FPGA vs. GPU in the long run (more energy efficient).

Depends on a few factors.

Firstly, what is your cost of electricity?
