As we may guess members in this forum do not like the idea of any part of the bitcoin ecosystem being banned anywhere, but they had a point, if miners want to mine then they need to pay for the electricity they consume, that is completely fair and that is something we all do, so why miners should be exempt of this?I am glad the temporary ban has ended and they are allowing legitimate miners to come back online, after all if they are regulated and they are paying all their taxes then they should be left to their own devices, also this will help a country like Iran which is in bad economic shape due to all the sanctions they are facing from the international community.

It's more of a convenient scapegoat for the Iranian government to blame for economic mismanagement. If they can say "it's these nasty and selfish blockchain miners" it beats saying "we don't have a solid plan for energy independence even though we are sitting on large oil reserves in this country". Sanctions against Iran make it difficult for them to produce certain needs for their own energy, but we now see that money has trumped that and these miners are bringing in a strong flow of foreign currency that they struggle to produce. i would like to know is how much money you need to pay to get the mining license and how much percentage you have to give the government for every block you mine.
I said it in previous page, it costs about $3.5 to get the license.As for the other point, I haven't found anything in the law saying you have to give what you mine to the government. There is just a predefined tax which is a percentage of what you earn.
There is also another thing to know about foreign investors which is to prevent abuse and currency exiting country. I'm not sure about the details but basically it prevents a foreign investor to build a mining farm in Iran, use the cheap electricity and then take all the bitcoins they mine out of the country. Which is something that used to happen before they cracked down on miners, and some of the seized miners were due to this abuse.

Without any plan China won't make such a decision to ban bitcoin. There should be something positive and highly benefiting them than bitcoin mining and usage. Until now the restrictions weren't made big as few countries that imposed imprisonment over persons using bitcoin.

Lifting ban from mining is very good decision from Iranian authorities because after having all assessments now they are feeling it's okay for them currently they are under sanction's so most chances in near future we will have some good news from here as they are also working on bitcoin and crypto and allowing their peoples for use this and adopt this because recently as few countries already having good benefits from this now it's time for them try and have good benefits.iran is not like china which has a strong economy, if they want to get big tax money then giving rules to miners is a good thing. not impossible in the next few years they will make bitcoin as a legal tender too. It is strange to hear that you need to take a license to mine Bitcoin and the projected revenue is really attractive and what i would like to know is how much money you need to pay to get the mining license and how much percentage you have to give the government for every block you mine. I wont be surprised if Iran starts accepting Bitcoin as a legal tender because they are giving out licenses and they needs to encourage everyone to start using them and they will be looking to overcome the trade sanctions imposed upon by US and other countries, so i wont be surprised if they starts accepting Bitcoin.

The reason behind the ban was to force the people that were using it illegibly by exploiting electricity and making huge amounts of money and not paying any taxes, and this lift came with some laws by making sure that the government can get in on this and make some profit from this industry as well, since it has a huge revenue by imposing taxes and issuing licensees, and i believe that every country is going to be doing the same because it is clearly that they are not able to stop the crypto progress so they will be joining it.

This is indeed a piece of nice news most especially to the users of bitcoin in Iran.
The unauthorized mining is what pushed their government to ban mining because of high electricity consumption. I can't blame them though because unauthorized mining even consumes way lot more power than those legal ones permitted by the state making the state's natural resources suffer. It's understandable in my opinion because the Iranian government just thinks of what is best for their country's welfare. I really just hope there would be no more people abusing it now that the ban has been lifted so that the authorized ones can return to be fully operational.
This ban lifting is timely because I think bitcoin can help their economy to bounce back now that their local currency is on a rough patch. Hopefully, they'll soon adopt it as one of their legal tenders as well like what El Salvador did. And hopefully, they have found alternative ways (eco-friendly) to generate power to make electricity. This can help them minimize the energy consumption that comes from their non-renewable resources making it more cost efficient in the long run.
Iran is one the biggest producer of oil in the world and there annual revenue of oil sales is 60 billion USD, I don't know why are they facing shortage of electricity. One possible reason for BTC mining ban may be that Iran government want BTC miners to pay electricity bill of commercial user (like payed by shops and industrial users) not as a domestic user.

Exactly, they do not want the operators to gain profit without paying the right amount. Addition, I think that they don't face electricity shortage rather they want to maximize the production of electricity without loss. So in order to do that they regulate and studied the electricity consumption of miners and the result is clear that they are just normal consumers at all.
Knew that this was going to be gone someday, the ban back then was abrupt and like any other bans before that's against bitcoin, this one isn't any different than that other than their durations. It's not big of a deal though that Iran lifted the ban, not many talks about it.
It's good that the ban was lifted, but what does it mean that only licensed miners can come back to their activities? I mean, what are the tax implications, does the license cost anything and what other requirements they must go through? I think it's important to know the details because if the regulations are tough, it might be that mining is effectively out of reach, but only formally allowed to come back. Paying the electricity bills and some reasonable taxes is one thing, but obtaining a license, establishing headquarters and reporting regularly to the authorities would be very different.
I think the iranian government hasn't accepted Bitcoin mining, but have deliberated about the ban they placed and how it has made them looked in the face of a changing digital world, I think the next thing is to remove the ban and place a requirement to mining of Bitcoin, I really wonder how hard it would be to actually get the said license to be allowed to mine Bitcoin in iran, many miners won't really buy the idea of getting licensed some want to remain an anonymous Miner, so the numbers of bitcoin miners in Iran are cut.but the problem is that electricity supply remains an obstacle when many miners both in individuals and groups make Iran think hard about this.

However, I was really trending especially during the last weeks and in my own idea, the miners can replace the traditional electricity power with solars cells. But still, this can be normal to see the increase in power consumption in the middle of summer and miners are not guilty of this story.

This makes much more sense on their move to prohibit mining in Iran. I was surprised by this move especially that mining brings revenue to the government in return.
With the reason that 90% of the miners get their energy/electricity illegally, it is obvious that the government would have to pass an prohibitive suspension on mining. But with its move in lifting the ban, this may attract more miners in return which would contribute to the overall price of BTC in the market.
As with my current opinion, we still find that there is a ban on every exchange allowing Iran to transact crypto. To complete the country blocking, confirmation from the government is needed so that it can also lift Iran's restrictions on exchange.
Just to be clear, Iran never imposed those restrictions, uncle Sam did + there are still a few foreign exchanges out there that allow Iranians to use their platforms.I should add that the electricity issues began in 2020 for a short duration and the biggest issue was about 2 months in 2021 during summer and they have all been resolved already.
I have to respectfully disagree [to an extent] with the latter part. Although they've significantly lowered the power outages in some places, there are still some places that experience it regularly.I also believe that the evidence suggest that most mining farms didn't stop mining and the news about the ban was mainly a show.

I'm not sure about its exact cost & requirements, but those with licenses have to pay a slightly higher electricity rate than what normal consumers pay. 
This is further proof that you can't ban Bitcoins and cryptocurrencies in general. If Iran can't do it, even though it's a quasi-dictatorship and has great control over the local Internet, then large open countries like those in the West won't be able to do it. This should be clear by now to everyone who constantly puts the argument on the table that Bitcoin won't be worth anything anymore once it gets banned.

I think that is a form of regulation that they implement for the miners so no illegal miners will use the power for their own benefits. That is good for the miners. You can't just pack up a big mining farm and migrate!Besides as I said before I have reasons to believe this was for show, miners never stopped mining. Additionally bitcoin entered Iran's budget to be used for import/export, they won't just stop mining for a couple of months missing out on about $500 million revenue.
Nothing to rejoice here. What about the huge losses suffered by the miners during the last 4 months? Who is going to reimburse them? Iran proved itself to be a very unreliable country for the cryptocurrency mining industry. For now, the ban on mining has been lifted. But we don't know when it will be imposed again. What the mining industry doesn't need is such unpredictability. And I don't really understand how there can be a power shortage in Iran. They are among the largest producers of oil and natural gas. A large part of the natural gas is just flared and wasted. Why can't they use it for electricity production?

Honestly, they need to reconsider lifting the ban and focus on making some positive development to use bitcoins for their economic growth. Iran's case is different than China where they still have some good thoughts about bitcoins. If those miners will just pay attention and use every necessary thing to be able to mine bitcoins without problems, then the government might consider them to mine freely and bitcoins will once again stay neutral in Iran.

Well the reason is not really because of the Cryptocurrency itself but because of the illegal activities. I think once Iran see the potential of cryptocurrency in the long run they might be persuaded to join the Bitcoin frenzy like El Salvador. But I think the Persians has already been doing crypto for a long time now and it is not being banned in their country, so that is already good news on its own. Perhpas by this October, we again experience a huge effect on the price of the crypto market, possible there will be a bull run. I hope there are too my good news will come so that bitcoin itself will increase the price altogether with the altcoins. However, I hope this healthy regulation of crypto will lead us to a successful day, if all governments like this, there should be no pump at all.

Good news again, maybe the temporary ban was just to make the right policy on how to regulate the crypto mining business in the country. Seems they found the way already and they realized it's a great opportunity for the government to make money as income will continue to flow through taxes if people are profitable with their business.

I'm aware of this news before and they've said that it's just temporary so they really have to lift that after the timeline that they've set. No need to compare with China, these two countries have their own different view about bitcoin.
China will just continue to have those FUD so that they have a stack as much as they can. It might be a secret for most but we have that typical feeling that whenever a FUD starts to come out from there, they have to stack.

That's exactly the way it is in Venezuela, and they made sure its very hard and expensive to obtain. This of course promotes corruption and many miners just try to hide. That happens when a country discriminates Bitcoin mining, rather than treat it like any other industrial activity, they feel they have to tax it way above the others. Which of course makes the place less attractive than other countries, so its only locals who have to deal with this nightmare and be under constant threat and surveillance from the State. It is common for corrupt authorities here to extort and even kidnap and ransom your people so you are forced pay them to keep "quiet" about your activities, and you can guess where that leads.
That also means that the naive attitude of certain pool operators refusing to upgrade from the clear text stratum protocol is unacceptable. But what do they care, its not like THEY risk their lives or anything...

I think the iranian government hasn't accepted Bitcoin mining, but have deliberated about the ban they placed and how it has made them looked in the face of a changing digital world, I think the next thing is to remove the ban and place a requirement to mining of Bitcoin, I really wonder how hard it would be to actually get the said license to be allowed to mine Bitcoin in iran, many miners won't really buy the idea of getting licensed some want to remain an anonymous Miner, so the numbers of bitcoin miners in Iran are cut. You cannot expect some of them to follow the rules without any secure system in place that's why it's much needed to not only let cryptocurrencies get integrated in the whole system but at the same time, it's necessary to not let it affect the general public perse.

In the span of 4 months, the Government of Iran might've probably made several changes, due to shortage of electricity, they had to implement the ban even on those miners who are legally operating, but since the ban is now lifted, I think that everything will be back to normal and these illegal miners cannot operate anymore.
I should add that the electricity issues began in 2020 for a short duration and the biggest issue was about 2 months in 2021 during summer and they have all been resolved already.
There was complete blackout in some major cities for few days back in that time due to shortage of electricity due to the reasons you have mentioned and they have said that it will be temporary ban of approximately 90 days and still the legal miners were banned to mine bitcoin as they were using excessive electricity but those who were not under the radar keep on mining illegally or say at hidden places.But now all the mining works are back to work as the ban is lifted now.

to be honest is better that crypto is taxed/good regulated, why? because when miner or crypto trader taxed there's income to government and ban most likely will be lifted or crypto become legal

The miner can still mine any coins while the government can get tax from the miners.
When both sides feel satisfied and have no complaint from the miner about the tax, the crypto can grow in that country and more miners will start mining.
People who use crypto will not have to be afraid to use crypto as their government accepts crypto, which is good progress for their country.

I kinda sense that this might not be due to electricity, that's just an excuse. The Iranian government saw that crypto could be a good option for them to, in some sense, bypass the almighty dollar, and took this opportunity to get some control over what's going on. It might not seem much, but these all are steps towards a more centralized crypto ecosystem.
I don't know why are they facing shortage of electricity.

It wasn't exactly a ban, it was more like a "pause" to reduce the electricity usage as the production dropped and natural usage during summer increased. I also believe that the evidence suggest that most mining farms didn't stop mining and the news about the ban was mainly a show. 
I will be waiting for export-import transactions using cryptocurrency I think it will cost less than bank service. Many countries ban Bitcoin but usually it is just temporary, even china maybe the government will lift the ban after electricity crisis end. I heard china have a problem with electricity. I think I can expect Iran become good environment for cryptocurrency users.
Well for one it is understandable that the reason why they ban it in the first place is because of the illegal activities miners were doing in the past. Now that they have settled it and possibly made some laws about mining activities then they lifted the ban and made sure that the miners this time should comply with the rules or else they will not be allowed to operate. Iran was just careful about its resources especially it is being antagonized in the west.

Iran is a middle eastern country that does have a big influence on economic growth. In line with the pretty good things, they are starting to lift the ban and will start operating indicating that there is an arrangement to re-take over the position as a sovereign country over the economic industry, especially adding crypto in it.

this is in accordance with Iran's initial statement which indeed banned bitcoin mining for 4 months because it was constrained by electricity problems and maybe now the electricity problem in Iran can be maximized so it is very natural for people to re-legalize bitcoin mining there.

Iran is one the biggest producer of oil in the world and there annual revenue of oil sales is 60 billion USD, I don't know why are they facing shortage of electricity. One possible reason for BTC mining ban may be that Iran government want BTC miners to pay electricity bill of commercial user (like payed by shops and industrial users) not as a domestic user.

Bitcoin is actually really useful for Iran right now, because their own currency is essentially worthless on the world markets due to the sanctions against them. It seems like the Iranian leadership is torn between people using cryptocurrency which helps them ignore internal pressure/repression and their citizens being able to send money back home via the blockchain which will boost the countries overall funds. Iran did actually used to be quite a big player when it came to Bitcoin mining, but I guess it might have picked up a bad reputation within a country that is struggling to keep the power on for average citizens - however it is yet another source of money for the regime.
