Iraqi troops seize control of districts of Falluja from Isis

Iraqi troops have wrested back control of districts in the Islamic State-held city of Falluja in a long-awaited operation fraught with fears that the militant group could try to use tens of thousands of civilians as human shields.

The assault came on Monday after a week of preparations focused on encircling the city, which fell to Isis early in 2014, months before the jihadis announced the creation of a caliphate.

Backed by US-led coalition airstrikes, Iraqi commanders said elite counterterrorism forces had begun a multi-pronged assault aimed at reaching the city centre, and appeared to have taken three out of nine districts in the militant redoubt west of Baghdad.

That would be a better option, in fact, I bet Iran would be way more sympathetic with ISIS so close to their borders, even they seem to be sick of this shit.

Iran is having a sizable Kurdish population inside its national borders, and they are not very comfortable with the idea of an independent Kurdish state so close to them. But Iraqi Kurdistan (de facto independent, but not de jure independent) has been in existence for more than a decade, and the Iranians seems to be getting on with them quite easily.

That would be a better option, in fact, I bet Iran would be way more sympathetic with ISIS so close to their borders, even they seem to be sick of this shit. They have actually gone and provided aid to them already so maybe as Iran is close allies with China they should look at maybe asking China for assistance or cutting some kind of deal with them.

My advise to them would be to not waste any money on lobbying. As long as the US and the NATO supports Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Kurds will never receive any heavy weapons or training from the Americans. They should divert their efforts in lobbying other countries such as China, Russia, and Iran, which are sympathetic to their cause.

hey you, yeah you, fuck you!!!
The marble-floored atrium at the office of Dentons, a prominent law and lobbying firm, is a popular venue for the capital’s elite to gather for political fund-raisers and ritzy receptions for corporate clients.

But the featured guest one recent evening was not a member of Congress or a company executive. It was Qubad Talabani, the deputy prime minister of the regional government of Kurdistan, the financially struggling region in northern Iraq that is desperately looking for ways to pay for its war effort against the Islamic State after its economy was decimated by the global drop in oil prices and a surge of refugees.

“You cannot win a war bankrupt,” Mr. Talabani said in an interview. “If we are the boots on the ground against ISIS, we have to be supported to stand on our own feet.”

Washington is bloated with thousands of special pleaders, most of whom want to push or derail legislation or a regulation. But Mr. Talabani’s visit — which included meetings with officials from the White House, State Department, Pentagon and on Capitol Hill — came with a decidedly different agenda: seeking money to finance a foreign war.
