Peeled brass Cas in excellent condition with the holo still attached and intact are selling for ~$1k. You can list it on eBay, or here to avoid the fees.

Best of luck, and if you decide to HODL, welcome to the exciting world of crypto collectibles!

Appreciate the advice and confirmation. Looks like it's time for me to learn about crypto.  Thanks again.

BTW - If you do decide to peel, order one of the Ballet wallets from amazon or their website.. They have made the redeeming process of the BTC as well as the forks as easy as it could be.

Remember you can always sell the peeled coin for extra funds as well. They fetch a decent price. As a newbie you might run into a little hesitance with buyers but if you use escrow and maybe even ship the coin to the escrow agent first you should be able to get it sold. It comes down to your risk tolerance and financial situation. You’ll get the most money by selling it, but you’ll have the least stress (probably) peeling it. I haven’t ever heard of a private key being destroyed in the peeling process, so that seems like a foolproof way to cash in. If you’re trying to start learning about crypto now though, owning a full BTC already puts you ahead of the pack.

Brass in excellent condition will fetch you 1.08-1.09. Silvers fetch a much higher premium in the way of 1.3-1.35 depending on condition and whether they are graded.

If it were me, I’d only sell (versus peel) if it was an in-person deal with someone you trust.

But all of that said, if your financial position supports it you might just wanna hang onto it. It was at the bottom of the drawer anyway.

I'm a noob, and haven't dove into the crypto world yet.  This week discovered a forgotten about relic given to my spouse in 2012...a 1BTC Casascius.  (we had no idea what it was at the time, put it in a drawer and forgot about it.)  Selling it whole seems stressful in a realm I don't know what I'm doing.  Seems easier to just peel.  Is it worth the hassle to sell? (ie. would I make enough extra and is there a market?)

my personal opinion is that its worth selling if its silver/gilt silver or already slabbed. if its a brass, unless you have a local in-person sale, prob not worth the hassle of worrying about shipping/escrow/etc. i think market is like 1.05-1.09 per brass casascius (haven't check so please DYOR). if you redeem you get like ~1.02 with the forks.

I would tend to agree with yimfinity, all though may depend on how you are looking at the sale... if in terms of $$$, I would gather you would be making a profit even at a minimum premium.....
But it terms of btc, you would be looking at a loss from the original sales price.
