I think it's irrelevant to compare the current regulations in different countries to what's normal. From that perspective, a year ago all counties were North Korea. It's natural that nowadays the countries want to close borders and do everything in their power to reduce total panic and maintain a functioning economy.

In North Korea, it has always been that way and will remain that way until somebody intervenes and does something serious about it.
People have literally no rights and freedom in there, they have no idea what's going on out there, total brainwashing, and the world doesn't know much about the inside life in there, they're totally cut out from this world.

Australia only does what needs to be done to ensure the safety and health of its population.

               Reading this through the eyes of someone who doesn't actually live in Australia makes it very scary and a bit credible. But man, calling Australia as a country that is beeing the same as north korea is going a bit too far don't you think? You see, I can tell you that that really isn't the case since my older sister is living right there and has been there for many many years having a good job along with her other half that is currently working on the government. If there were anything wrong they would know first hand because of their jobs and so far, they haven't really said anything bad about how things are in Australia. So I think we should confirm first then wait and see if something big really does happen before jumping into conclusions that may mislead a lot of people.

Here in Australia, the number of locally acquired Covid cases are in the single digits and make national news headlines.

If the number of cases becomes double digits as has occured in Melbourne, Victoria, the entire region goes into lockdown until the outbreak is brought under control.

I don’t like that restriction. I am not familiar with Australia law/Australia constitutional law, so I don’t know the chances of the law standing.

With that being said, the pandemic has been going on for over a year, and India has had COVID problems for months now, so if someone wanted to return home after living in India has had a long time to do so. If someone is not already in India, they should not travel there. They always have the choice of quarantining for two weeks in a country other than India. I would not call this law akin to NK policy. North Korea is known to shoot people entering their country on sight, with no warning.

I think that many countries would like to do the same but controlling large land borders seems impossible in today's world. Having your own island makes it so much more easier. Iceland and New Zealand did the exact same thing. Even UK tried to do it during the height of the corona pandemic. As long as these measures are short term and time limited. I don't see anything wrong with it.

This is not true. Australian citizens have an automatic exemption to travel restrictions into Australia. Australia does, however, restrict its citizens' ability to leave the country.

Their border policy is very popular and is intended to stop the spread of covid into their country. Unfortunately, they have been slow at distributing the vaccine, which ultimately would give way for them to open up their borders again.

I won't compare Australia with NK as well. NK is like the extreme here. Australia is just protecting its citizens but they still have a lot of freedom within their realm. The way of living or lifestyle of Australians are much much better than NKoreans. Just basing from the articles I read about NK living though.

This is very true. We here in Australia do not have a problem with China. Our government is creating issues with China, but Australian all have Chinese connection and friend. It is hard to take the Australian government seriously because it is actually an illegal occupation of the Indigenous lands. But they will point at China and issues China has domestically. The reality is the British flag is flying over the indigenous peoples land and that is because of the minerals under the ground.

I believe two people giving confidential information to the media without permission is against the law and deportation is a tough measure from the government. It's like treason or espionage. Every country has its own way of treating its citizens and I think that should be respected. In China, crimes involving state secrets can be punished more severely.

I do not think that. Australia is a country with a developed economy. This is a country integrated with the world economy. The Australian Government always expands exchanges and cooperation for mutual development with countries around the world. It is not like North Korea's authoritarian political regime. Australians can freely trade, travel... This is the most livable country in the world.

alot of countries have alot of problems. but when it comes to reading/hearing stories on the news. dont just put the conspiract tin on your head.. actually research

there are many chatrooms in the world. pick one. for instance if your in the US/UK hearing about news of australia. go find an australian chatroom and actually just have conversations with australians and ask their opinion.

so america has more detainees per populus and yet no regular stories about it compared to china.

I wish I could trust the media in the states and expect an unbiased opinion from them but I don't. One of the reasons I don't trust the media is the Smith-Mundt act which banned propaganda was repealed in July 2nd, 2013 (ironically right before the 4th of July to enslave our minds to their brainwashing means).

Another reason is they have sponsors, people that pay them money to run ads or people that pay them money to keep quiet. Very rarely will they ever go after their own sponsors or people that grease their cogs. Unless the alternative online media break something that goes viral and they are forced to cover it.  A present day example of this is how the Wuhan virus originated. Many alternative media sources broke that the Wuhan virus outbreak originated in a lab. The media tried to cover that the virus originated from bats naturally. However, if you look at the virus it looks man-made and has the same payload receptors as HIV. Now the media is forced to cover the possibility that it came from a lab leak in China. The Chinese have a broad influence in media in the United States so the media will try to cover this up. Do you think they bought Disney just to make a profit? I could go on about how each media outlet has its own bias due to its sponsors or the party they represent. NBC/MSNBC/CNBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, and practically most of the mainstream media have supported and are biased to the beliefs of the Democrat party. Fox News and other alternatives appear to be bias towards the beliefs of the Republican party or independents.   However, a large sect of Fox News leans towards the Neo-cons like Mitt Romney which support wars which brings big government spending and monies to their cronies. The same can be said of the rest of the mainstream media outfits that lean towards the Dems they are out for their money grab of propaganda for big pharma pushing the vaccines. So my real opinion is be selective of who you can believe and take everything with a grain of salt.

The media is always the ones that spread the news of what is going on. If the country wants to control the people so they won't panic or revolt against the government, it's the media that will always have to be controlled. They are having conflict with China which the Chinese had already controlled many companies, even Hollywood is already bought by China. Look how John Cena says sorry for saying Taiwan is a country.

AUS isn't that brutal yet to their media. It's the Belarus President that's worse, who forces RyanAir to land on Minsk in order to detain a critical journalist who is on board.

I am always amazed on how people tagged medias as fake. I don't really know how they can be branded as fakes when they have proofs, and evidences that supports the news. Is it just because the news is not aligned to what you think is happening? and you oppose what is in the news?. then It is not that news is faked, but your opinion is just BIASED.

It is really pretty common now to threaten the media in each country (if you're well aware of what is happening right now in SEA). It is saddening, but reality is bullshit

North Korea is at the extreme level of dictatorship so we can't compare Australia with them, they have a reason why they closed down the border because they want to put an end to the spread but its completely against the human rights as well since even own country is not allowing their citizen the enter into their borders then how they expect other countries to accept them.

North korea us relations refers to the international relations between north korea and the united states. Historically political and diplomatic relations between north korea and the united states have been hostile beginning with the korean war north korea's destructive nuclear program in recent years but in the case of australia and north korea if the governments of the two countries do not adhere to all the policies together, then immigration policies can be controlled very easily. Together they will control the security of everything.

I don't know if Australia could be the next North Korea, as an island this could be usual measures to protect the population against a new wave of corona. Wasn't the neighbour island New Zealand doing the exact same thing already 1 year ago? The current pandemic enables the government to implement much stricter travel restrictions than before. I think that the government will try to be more strict but this is likely to go change very soon again. The big difference between NK and Australia is that they have lections. If the government doesn't follow the will of the people we will likely see a new government after the next election.

If the people of Australia knew how to use the "Court of Queen's Bench of Australia," they could have corrected the overreaching of the "High Court of Australia" a long time ago, in all kinds of things, including the stupid Covid false alarm. At least for the time being your media is better than most of the mainstream media in the states. They seem to tell the truth so the government acts upon them. Whereas in the states, the government owns the mainstream media behind the scenes mostly. Australians know China is wanting to influence their country just as they influence the United States. So to me the answer is no you're not North Korea there isn't one man you'd have to kill to make the dominos start to fall but rather they want you to become like China.
