Quantum computers are still sci-fi material and it will be probably at least a decade before anything operational appears aside from some proof of concepts machines maybe in some university. When they do appear I think the easiest thing to do will be to simply encrypt new cryptos using quantum computers Cheesy Problem solved.

Technology doesn't jump, quantum computers don't just come into existence out of nowhere. I expect that there will be time to adapt. Bitcoin can and probably will do a hardfork to adjust its cryptography. As will any other cryptography based technology.

once quantum based or other high end computing is introduced they will be able to crack the private keys and take all funds.

the real question to ask you is, why did you post this in an altcoin speculation board Cheesy

and to answer your question no it is not something we need to worry about for ages. because first of all a quantum computer is not something YOU can buy from a computer store or off ebay and do malicious stuff with and cracking the private keys is not as easy as you think it is and a quantum computer is not as efficient as you think it is.

Agreed. Quantum computers are super expensive if the OP didn't know. And there is no Quantum computers than can break into your bitcoin wallet and steal your private keys. Bitcoin technology are so secured that even what you are speculating will not happened in the future.

By that time people will just have to imagine a product or scenario and be able to fully experience it in VR or even the "real" world. And that's ignoring the previous implications of literally everything private magically turning public.

if or when that happen, the whole world will be turned upside down, just like in Independence Day, when the motherships appeared all around the world. You could very well ask if the world is a massive train wreck Huh

also Bitcoin and cryptography could just change the algorithms and remain safe

Blah blah blah, you say.  If quantum stuff makes it to everyday application I'm jumping in a wormhole, headed back to 1988 when things were sunnier.

As far as BTC is concerned, there's nothing to see here, just attempted fear, uncertainty, and doubt.  Why let that ruin your dreams?

as above, it'll be the least of your problems. the entirety of global commerce would collapse completely.

If we follow your thoughts, so neither email accounts and bank accounts will survive because a powerful computer can crack everything that exists. Give me a break!
