Larger amounts of crypto, I suggest you use nothing else but cold storage. If we talk about trading only, sure Bittrex s perfectly safe.

If 2FA is not secure anymore, then nothing is.
These days it is one of the best and most secure ways to protect a account.

2FA is quite secure in general not just on Bittrex, hackers would have a hard time breaking into your account with it turned unless they have your mobile phone.

google app is better than a simple authy, and in any case if your phone is compromised or you email, nothing is secure

the guy probably had his desktop infected as usual

It's lot of time that i use bittrex now and all my exchanges, deposit anmd withdraw never had any problems.
I used it also without 2FA and all goes always fine.
Of course 2FA can prevent someone to steal your money (but if the exchange disappear itseld, bye bye coins & 2FA)

I found this article saying that the 2FA at Bittrex is not safe, what do you think?   is the Authy app for windows - laptops a good app?

Yes it's safe. But it won't harm to have a difficult password.
Make it a  habbit to using very strong at least 12 characters long passwords. This way you are forever 'safe' on any site.

With 2FA enabled there's nothing much an hacker can do. Sure they can use your credentials on other exchanges, but since most of them also have 2FA
I won't be worried. Exchanges know damn good how to secure people's money. Good exchanges offcourse.

2FA is very secure. The chance a hacker can hack both your bittrex password + get control over your mobile phone is very slim.

If you use authy in the browser, it can be dangerous though..

Even if you have a poor password and with 2FA enabled the hacker can't do anything. 2FA is higher level secure.

this is an old and dumb article from july 2014. that's what i think.

Yep, agreed. Antways the guy who open the thread should be concerned about Cryptsy and not about Bitttrex who has a very nice reputation. 2FA is completely secure, the problem is that exchnages can steal your money if they want.

The exchange itself can still steal your coins, even if you have 2FA on...

I used bittrex several times in exchanging altcoin to bitcoin and all my transactions went smoothly without problems. I do not know about their reputation these days

2FA is not that safe. Remember that you never should trust any exchange. Once you have done the trade, just move the coins to your own wallet.

The guy didn't really had the 2FA option activated and probably had a poor password. That's why he was hacked in the first place.
