may be its like stemit the new crypto currency by blogging we have the bitwalking app and what we need now is social media coin so that it becomes a full circle Grin With Bitwalking you would save some money which you normally spend as medical expensense if you use it properly  Tongue

most "new" concepts are playing the hype of other tech to inflate their own value purely for some VC funding.

i bet it cost about $1,000 to code and release the app but the creator by adding that its aimed at the fitness crowd and the 'blockchain' crowd automatically wanted it valued at $X million

Exactly!  High scores and no prizes.

Using the "Bit-" prefix in their name is bad for Bitcoin, IMO.

You would think that the first thing they would do would be to make sire there is a reason for this currency. Otherwise we collect and add a number of whatever currency it is and watch it grow. More like a high score then spendable currency.

Thanks @Yakamoto

It's a very well-hyped fail.  Do you think there might be other suspicious aspects to this?

It's definitely a waste, but I don't think that they're being deceptive unless they start saying that it hands out bitcoin for people walking.

As usual, there is a company that fails to actually figure out ow their business plan would work before they announce it, and thus we end up with half-baked products and mediocre promises being filled.

It was an ok idea, but obviously it turned out poorly, like most other things in the Bitcoin economy, apparently.

Well, Uber is now tracking riders AFTER their rides!

I'm suspicious that this is another tracking device capable of spying on us.  That's a big industry in the USA.

And of course it can be hacked....

Think there was more than one company or developer with this concept but this company was active at first here replying back to people.
Looked like a interesting plan for a business circling around most likely gps information to datamine, but have not seen anything for quite some time.
Think what is most likely happening is they walked away from the project or have stalled for the time being.
But having if active on the app store must mean it is semi active enough, the guidelines for apps is a unknown for me though.

Bet you could search back and contact them directly here, just to lazy at the moment to look it up.

Yup.  You walk, the app pays out Bitwalking rewards.   Roll Eyes

They either released or updated the Android app today, (Dec. 4)

It's in the Google Play Store now, but it looks like a massive waste of time & technology:  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bitwalking.bitwalking&hl=en

I waited months for the BitWalking app, thinking that we earned BTC for walking, but it's just another unusable currency with no stores or merchants!

Do you think it's deceptive to call it Bitwalking if you don't earn BTC?
