I'm just curious, are they just the same?

For me both of this is different form of investment but has the same concept. In a stuck market you do have the highest share then the stuck will be name by you while in bitcoin although you have the highest holding but still bitcoin is decentralized and no one can own it.

Yes,in terms of returns we will never knows that our investment will give returns or not but if we buy the coins after the better research then chance of making profits is much higher. But crypto currencies are different from stock it is just like a normal fiat currency with much price fluctuations.

Buying bitcoin is almost the same as buying stocks in the stock market, for you are putting capital or buying it with money, buying bitcoin ir stocks are the same investing money on it and you engage in trading activities.

I like Bitcoin better than stock as I feel like I have control of the underlying asset.  When I buy stocks the broker holds these assets and I cannot use them.  I also like the fact I can spend my Bitcoin at various places I visit.

Bitcoin- in bullish time
If you are trying to say that buying altcoin in the cryptocurrency market is the same as buying stocks in the stock market then yes, it is true that you will be doing the same thing in the cryptocurrency market because when you are buying stocks then you are undergoing to a research and a technical analysis to prove that it is worth it to buy that cryptocurrency/stock.

Stock are ownership in businesses and companies. bitcoin is ownership in the form of money. I think that's what makes them different.

Stocks are shares where by any means you are part of the company and that's when you hold any part of it. Unlike in bitcoin, it's not a stock, like they said it's a cryptocurrency where it must be used for buying goods and it doesn't have a company backed up. In stocks, when the company profits, their shares are increasing and in bitcoin, when the demand increases the value also increase given that its supply is limited there are many factors whereas bitcoin and stocks are completely different.

I think its not the same. When we buying bitcoin, we believe on proven network and we believe bitcoin is store of value like gold. But to make profits, its like we keeping our stocks because we hold it for long term

Obviously it was not the same, stock market has rules to follow while cryptocurrency can be traded anytime when the market price is starting to pump.

Investors who are planning to purchase stocks in the stock market would need to do a lot of research on the companies that they are interested in, as the performance of the companies would usually affect the price of the stock, but the values of bitcoin are generally affected more by the rules and regulations imposed on it which are set by the authorities of every countries, so I would say there is actually a huge difference between stocks and bitcoin.
Yeah all this research work is true but even if we don't go in all this detail we an simply understand it as how different are these both (stocks & bitcoin). When we are asked what is bitcoin? we say it is a cryptocurrency or a digital currency which makes it clear that it far away from stacks and stuff. It has it's own identity as a currency, just like you have dollar and pound sterling which are tangible or physical. I guess it is the simplest way to understand the difference. Also it is vulnerable to regulations because it is considered as a threat to the ordinary financial/economical system around the world.

No they're not and there are lot of differences. Stocks in the first place is only a portion of a holder or person in the company which can also be called as shares. On the other hand, Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency which market value is continuously growing despite of the market volatility. Stocks are only shareds but once an investor invested in Bitcoin, it would all be to him as well as profit. So the difference is dependence. Also, Bitcoin is a currency.

Bitcoin is not like stocks. If you want to buy Bitcoin, you don't need to depend on third parties or brokers. You don't need to be afraid that someone will run away to take your money, because Bitcoin gives full control over its owner, you are holding your own Bitcoin.

I think its not the same. When we buying bitcoin, we believe on proven network and we believe bitcoin is store of value like gold. But to make profits, its like we keeping our stocks because we hold it for long term
It is similar to buying commodity not stocks. Stocks are tied to a company and usually changes according to how a business does. If you own apple stock than you are stick with how apple is doing and apple has been doing great so you make money, or you select a bad company and you lose money on that stock. Bitcoin is more like gold or silver. In the similar way there is limited supply of bitcoin and gold, it is compared on price against dollar, the less valued dollar becomes the higher valued bitcoin/gold gets. So, if you want to compare bitcoin to anything you do not need to use stocks because it is tied to a business, you need to compare it to a commodity like water/gold/silver/oil or whatever.

Yes it is similar if you want to buy cheaper and sell more expensive, so you want to make money on the price difference.
In principle it is almost the same, because this is an investment where bitcoin can profit if the price rises, while the stock can profit if the price goes up there is also a dividend distribution if the company gets a profit. If the loss / price falls, the risk of losing money. Because bitcoin is money, it can be used to pay for transactions, but stocks cannot be used to pay when we buy something.

There are very much same but here are some differences:

1) There is regulation in stock markets.

2) No anonymity in case of stock markets.

3) There are additional taxes in case of crypto which is generally higher than that of stocks.

4) Returns are much higher in case of crypto. The risks are also higher.

Bitcoin is not just a way of investment but it is the future of the digital currency all around the world. It is a mode of payment used by many peoples and it is also a great example of the use of blockchain technology. SO, I don't think that buying stocks is same as buying bitcoin due to its massive use in many ways.

It is similar in a way but quite different at the same time. Stocks directly represent the capitalization and the success of the company. Instead, Bitcoin can get affected by the positive news, but not as much as stocks, it is a speculation at most. But stocks are a pure investment, instead bitcoin is a currency, has it's own market and is a stock itself, just with a much more depth to it. You can use Bitcoins to buy services, instead with stocks you can't.

Buying bitcoin is nearly the same as buying stocks in a stock market but there are also a lot of differences. Buying bitcoin is like buying a gold because the price is unstable and unpredictable. It can go higher or lower but you don't have any idea when. Buying stocks is like having an ownership on the stock market.

Bitcoin and stocks in stock market are very similar since they are very volatile but they are not the same. Bitcoin is a virtual currency, a currency like fiat but the difference is that it's transaction are done online via blockchain. Stocks on the other hand is not a currency, it is a share to some company that is gained by the investors investing in some company that they trust.

I think it is close in many ways. You need to be fast, smart and serious if you deal with huge sums in both cases. Apart from that, the price is changing all the time both on the stock market and on the buy/sell btc websites. The difference is that stock is attached to some specific companies and I guess you pay taxes using it. Bitcoin is tax-free and doesn't belong fully to anyone.

Not your Keys, Not your Bitcoins
Of course NOT. Bitcoin is a crypto-currency so more likely you could compare it to the forex trading currency pairs USD,EUR,JPY,etc. A stock represents a share which entitles the holder to a fixed dividend, whose payment takes priority over that of ordinary share dividends.

Buying bitcoins is like selling euro to buy dollars for example at an exchanger. But instead of that you sell euro to buy BTC. I hope my explanation was clear and you understood.  Grin

I'm just curious, are they just the same?

I in a way they are. You buy altcoins when they are low and wait for the price to spike for the right time to sell them. It's pretty much buy low sell high concept. It's just that for stocks, it usually takes longer and is more passive while for bitcoin you can trade aggressively. And I think stocks is more stable and safe as you can purchase parts of large and established businesses and corporations.

In a way they are? The only common thing they have is they buying process, you give money for "something", after that everything is completely different. I don`t think buying stocks is easy and simple like buying bitcoins is. Bitcoin is currency and we can do many things with bitcoin, bitcoin have altcoins, that altcoin market is similar with stock market. You are looking for good coin that have future, like you are looking for company with decent reputation and potential to develop more in the future. In both of them, sources of informations are essential to have, and without reliable source and analytic mind you cant be trader and make profit on altcoin or stock market.

Buying stocks in stock market and buying bitcoins are entirely different but both has its own advantages and disadvantages as i do consider both as assets and the risk involved in both are some what related and same as you really cannot predict the price of stock or bitcoin but the possibility of making a good profit is high when it comes to bitcoin because of the volatile nature.

stocks can be risky if you don't have inside information to companies you invest with.

I never heard that iconomi was limited supplies.. so they will never generate new coins in the future and it will stay at that amount?
Unlike bitcoin that always farming bitcoins or mining to generate bitcoins that we can use.
Did you really miss something, even bitcoin is limited and so is the reason for the price to grow like this .Iconomi is an asset based on the Ethereum platform while bitcoin is a currency which is really used in transactions and other uses.while i doubt the same is used in Iconomi or the project is still under development.

in present tie we are purchasing bitcoin using fiat  but in future when we will starting using bitcoin as currency then we will earn it as we earn the fiat, but still as the users of bitcoin are very low therefore people are using bitcoin as investment.

You can compare the two cause they are very similar yes the difference is bitcoin functions as a currency as well.
Bitcoin can make you a lot of profit if you know what you are doing of course.

But if you invest in good stocks also can make you very rich and there are many people already did it. Both are investments with different risk factors and advantages.  For me, both are just an investments but the only difference is bitcoins can be used to buy many other things in online instantly if you won it but stocks we have to sell before using that money. If you buy at the wrong time, then you can make lose in both, but buying stocks are slightly higher risky investments compared to bitcoins.

They have something in common but I wouldnt say that they are the same because with bitcoin you can buy things by using it as money and also as a debit card, you have more freedom with bitcoin rather than stocks.

For the bitcoin, it is more like a buy and hold. If you bought the bitcoin 6 years ago, lots of profit have been made.

I know the profit what it would be If I would invest in bitcoin in their early days, People have become very rich because of bitcoin, but we cant say that bitcoin is the same thing as stocks.

But when buying Bitcoins you don't have any requests and limitations that are typical for buying shares on stock market.

No, they are not because bitcoin is a currency while stock refers to shares in the company. You can buy 0.1 or 0.7 btc or any amount while you cannot buy just any amount in stocks because you need to buy whole shares and besides there is already a rule in the stock market of the minimum shares one can buy. In the process maybe somehow they are the same since you will have bid and ask price if those prices will be hit then you can also have profit or lose depending of when you buy or sell the btc or stock.

Unlike gold, bitcoins are easy to store, they divided randomly into very small pieces, quickly sent.
Unlike Fiat, bitcoins are more reliable - you can't fake them, they wear out, they do not need to reissue.
All transactions in BTC are transparent and they can see anyone connected to the Internet. So a perfect payment can't be challenged, justifying that "money didn't come."
As a means of accumulation and savings:
Cryptocurrencies have a predictable and decreasing emissions.
You do not have the regulatory center. To open accounts in Bitcoin network does not need any documents and permits.
You can always keep your bitcoins under the direct control, for example in a home safe.
For bitcoin there are no frontiers – it instantly anywhere in the world where there is Internet connection.

No, they are not.  If you buy bitcoin it will be owned only by you.  If you buy stocks you will become the owner of the company along with other investors.  Buying stocks is kinda risky as they say.  It will depend on the performance of the company you have share stocks with. So better to choose a good company before buying them.  As to bitcoins, it is just like a money though the difference is its value changes.  You could also spend it and you might want to invest it also.
Nice analogy, and bitcoin is different from  buying stocks indeed. Buying BTC is just like buying another currency, the exchange rate also varies like real foreign exchanges.A bitcoin is simply another currency in digital form.

As far as the market goes, it's like Forex on steroids, there's millions to be made and lost.

So better to choose a good company before buying them.  As to bitcoins, it is just like a money though the difference is its value changes.  You could also spend it and you might want to invest it also.

Yes but it’s slightly different. When you buy bitcoins, you invest in a technology having a revolutionary concept. No one can predict the accurate future of bitcoin because it’s something that is happening for the first time. If you are buying stocks then it totally depends on who is issuing stocks, most of the companies are doing traditional business which give a fixed kind of returns. In investment point of view, bitcoin investment is more risky but having good potential of high returns whereas stocks investments are something traditional kind of investments.

By the way, you can invest in both at a time, I think 1Broker has that feature to invest in stocks with bitcoins. Do your own research before investing.

In my opinion, yes because you're like buying shares from bitcoin and you will keep it for a long term or either short. And its always up to you if when you gonna sell your shares. So for me it's same like investing in stock market.

I'm just curious, are they just the same?

It is not the same. Bitcoins are a currency like fiat. Stocks give you ownership in a company. You are entitled to dividends as a stock holder. You don't get any income by just holding bitcoins, except for the price increases of course.

So that is the difference, you are knowledgeable indeed.  In my opinion it is like the same because it is like both investing. It would still bring profit to you in just different form.  But upon reading your post, yes, it is different.  We woould not have income with btc if we just keep it.  It will give us income if it goes well.  Hope that btc price would give us more promising future.

The All-in-One Cryptocurrency Exchange
The thing i remember when i had shares from some companies is they are volatil, they change daily as bitcoin, and can easy double as loose value, besides that you can only sell on the daily basics, meaning at weekend you cant do nothing. You pay a fee holding stock markets and you get some share of the revenue from the company. At bitcoin its 24/7 possible transaction, and you dont get a share from the revenue, as bitcoin just mooves up and down soo this will be from where your earnings may come.
Yes, they are similar in some aspects but not exactly the same, some economic and financial indices affect on price of bitcoin but at least not like that bitcoin works. You can buy bitcoin yourself and there are many more unknown variables on bitcoin price compared to stock.

Bitcoin is different.

The number of Bitcoins doesn't increase your say in spinning the network itself, but you have a voice in the market.  (Market and the network are two totally different things)

Proof of Stake coins are more like buying stocks.  You get a voice in the market and you get a voice in the network because the coins are mined by coins "staking".

That's why I mess with Clamcoin because it's like a Just-Dice stock with a vote.

In a way holding Bitcoin is like holding a stock on every pro-Bitcoin company out there, since all companies benefit from Bitcoin having an higher price, so if you are not sure on what company to invest in the crypto field, just buy Bitcoin.

No not really.
With buying stocks you become share owner of a company.
Bitcoin however can be seen as money or commodity, like gold or silver.I like to compare trading Bitcoin and other altcoins with FX trading.
Furthermore Bitcoin is much more volatile but on the other side it has huge potential for massive gains in the future as we are still in the early years although almost being 8 years old.

A majority of the process is the same, but they aren't really the same because there are a lot of differences within the two markets and how actively money is moved. A lot of what makes Bitcoin so attractive to investors is the volatility it has, and how often the are swings up or down as well as pumps, which have the opportunities for investors to make a lot of money. Bitcoin is more unpredictable than the stock market and there are some key differences, but a lot of the knowledge is the same.

Bitcoin can be better defined as assets like gold, silver etc but bitcoin can't be touched just like gold after you buy. Buying stocks and buying bitcoin is quite different but both have price volatility giving chance to earn money trading them, however price volatility is higher in bitcoin so making it more profitable and also risky.

BTC to the moon is inevitable...
they are the same but they also have differences too.
as it was said before bitcoin is a currency also so you can withdraw it and use it as such, exactly like forex market so i guess it is more similar that way.
but the trading part is similar you place orders and buy and sell the same way. and technical analysis works here too.
the difference however is that stocks market is so much bigger and there is a company behind the stock that you buy but there is no company behind bitcoin and it is pure supply and demand.

if you trade bitcoin then it was just all right. with bitcoin we can buy and sell them. as well as the stock market, we benefit from the margin. Different is bitcoin more like we do trade currencies. everyone has his point of view respectively. for me like that.

The same in what respect? Clearly stocks and Bitcoin are entirely different things. Bitcoin is not a company, but a decentralized currency and value transfer system. The Bitcoin software and network is not owned by anyone. Logically, Bitcoin pays no dividends and you need no bank to obtain ownership.

Bitcoin is both a store of value and a service to move value around. So I don't think that these hybrid nature can be directly compared to other assets, which are only the former. I think the only thing that's similar compared to investing in the stock market (or any other asset) is the risk involved. Bitcoin's value fluctuates. There is no 100% assurance, that Bitcoin will be successful and maintain or increase its purchasing power.

Yosh! Noted, sir! Maybe their concept of buying and selling and as you've said the risk, made me think they're just the same. Thank you!

if you just look at the buying part, then you can say that it's nearly identical. in both cases you are buying and selling from an order book. however, with stocks you are forced to buy a minimum of 1 stock. you can't choose to buy like 0.1 stock, or 0.75, or 10.65 stock like you can with bitcoin. again, i'm just talking about the buying process.

Buying bitcoin is same as buying gold, because you are investing in something that the price can go higher or lower in the future and you also can spend bitcoin like normal money and it's different from the stock shares.
