Not good at all.

No custom fee

No private keys (A must thing to have in your hands)

If you login from any sanctioned country by mistake, your account will be restricted

IMO, MyCelium wallet is best, android based, simple light weight and has all the features you need, also support trezor and ledger hw wallets.

Has anybody seen this when trying to log into Coinbase lately. An error has occurred. Makes me wonder I've seen this on other sites where I had BTC & LTC and lost it.

Don't worry, we've been notified about the issue and are taking a look. Please try again in a few minutes, or if the problem persists feel free to add a Bug Report. Sorry for the trouble

My only issue with coinbase is the speed of transactions or the time it takes for transactions to get confirmed (bitcoin/litecoin). Other than that, it's all good.

The only way I can see Coinbase be somewhat responsible in this case, is when they don't include appropriate fees according to how congested the network at a specific period of time is. Another factor (when Coinbase isn't responsible) is that miners just blatantly ignore transactions, certain pools have the frequent habit of doing so. It's an aspect that doesn't get much people to complain about honestly. The far majority of the complaints all are verification related, one way or another, which is something a lot services allowing people to buy and sell crypto suffer from due to the long list of regulations they have to abide by.

As per the question is coinbase a safer wallet than blockchain
for me both are working better and do not face any issue  while using them but there is a problem in both of them. Suppose if you lose the password of your blockchian and do not have your other back up then you will lose your BTC and in coinbase there is also some issues like people are claiming that they got their account banned and this is because if they are use gambling site from that wallet. So stay alert while using anyone of them.
Coinbase is somehow safe but the thing here is that you should really not try to violate their ToS because once you have violated it then expect you would really be got blocked and there are instances on where they do block without any users awareness which do really suck but you can anytime complain to their support which i do say that they are somehow attentive on handling issues of its users but choosing between coinbase and blockchain i would use blockchain since i do have the private keys of my wallet.
Yes they do it like that just like the forum if you violated the plagiarism free rule you can be banned with no notice or whatsoever. Specially for coinbase that comply to the government for safety precautions well that cant be helped they are just securing it for a safety environment for their dear user's.

As per the question is coinbase a safer wallet than blockchain

Way way back I started bitcoin using Coinbase wallet, then now Im using them for the ETH & Litcoin wallet too, PLUS coinbase' mobile app is a great help and I haven't experience any bad issue or problems using coinbase, very secured too!. Smiley

Quite opposite on what I experienced on their android app as its buggy to the point that it doesn't even let me copy my bitcoin address and yes it also freezes sometimes.
I wouldn't call it "secured" as it doesn't even give you your private key so technically you're not in fully control of your funds and is subjected on their policies where changes will be made in the future regardless of your opinion. There's also a bonus of slow support.
Seconded, I have experienced it too on their mobile app which it do really have some bugs which you can even copy your address or even does show some visual glitch for sometime when you are trying to scroll between other accounts. They do have support but its automated and not all issues and questions can really be precisely be answered by that bot.

coinbase is safe because high security support 2fa
but not full safe, because coinbase not support private key, if coinbase service close or gone, you can do it anyhing and bitcoin balance is gone too
This is the only the thing why I do hesitate to use such site because I don't really have the possession of my own wallet keys which do really suck when theres a problem on the site and you cant really access your bitcoins anymore.Speaking about legitimacy they are indeed legit and been operating for how many years and regarding on account security they do have it too but yet they do have still some issues from its users just like on sudden blocking of the accounts.I haven't experienced it yet so I cant make a word on it but one assumption that they might really violate rules listed on the ToS.

Despite all the security features we activate, there will always be a way for hackers to steal bitcoin. I believe coinbase is a nice wallet because it was listed on the official site bitcoin.org, but we also have to be rational because of the many negative news and experiences from the user coinbase who has ever stolen.

As a user of coinbase personally i love their 2FA security support.I'm using their service over 4 years long still all are going smoothly, never facing any little bit problem but i support you it's not good at all.I mean all online wallet will be failed give you 100% security in long term.Only web wallet will promise security issue.
As a user of bitcoin,I hate to see the fact people are still stuck with exchange wallets. There's a difference, the wallet you carry in your pocket and the wallet your bank gives you.You only have control over only one of them.2Fa and shit is okay but what's the point of all that when they can simply suspend your accounts without your permissions.

As we saw these days with the Central Bank of China, i see this problem with regulated exchanges like coinbase, if the country regulator wants to suspend your account coinbase will block it. This can't happen if you control your bitcoins (with a paper wallet, software wallet or hardware wallet).

coinbase is safe because high security support 2fa
but not full safe, because coinbase not support private key, if coinbase service close or gone, you can do it anyhing and bitcoin balance is gone too

Yes agree, I am user of coinbase about 2 years, and until now have never found a problem. Certainly by activating 2FA is the best solution to increase security, but we must be aware that the web wallet is not secure 100%, so coinbase I use to store  bitcoin no more than 10 btc.

I'm not a coinbase user but by the looks of it, it a safe on-line wallet for everyone.
For security purpose, I believe its the individual responsibility to secure whatever
wallet she/he has. If you are storing huge amount of bitcoins in coinbase, its
your responsibility to take security precautions specially when you are using
computer or phones to access once account.

Activating 2FA is an added security measures to protect yourself, although
recently hackers has found a way to bypass it as well.

Same here Smiley , I am also a Coinbase user about 1years plus. I am using it smoothly, Till now i never found any issue using coinbase Wallet. I also set up Two Factor Authentication for higher security. Coinbase wallet is safe and secure until the site turned into the scam.
10 Bitcoin is huge money man. For storing 10 BTC in coinbase wallet is not safe and secure. You can use hardware and desktop wallet for storing 10 BTC . Those wallet are 100% safe i have heared.

You are maybe actually right that coinbase has safe wallet to store any bitcoin. But there are so many issues that pops up from their forum, reddit and even here that there are many people experienced those issues. Just don't store there with huge amounts or else you know all the consequenses.

As per the question is coinbase a safer wallet than blockchain
In my opinion the blockchain is best then anyone wallet because blockchain is official wallet for the bitcoin .
What are you talking about? Blockchain.info is not and never was official bitcoin wallet.
You are probably confused by the name "Blockchain" and mixed it with bitcoin's blockchain, these are completely different things.
The closest wallet we can call an official Bitcoin Wallet is Bitcoin Core, originally developed by Satoshi himself.

If you are using an online wallet that is the risk you have to take, they can be hacked or taken down either way the customers will be losing their coins and since the coins are not insured there is no way to get those back.So always save your coins in you personal wallet either hardware wallet or paper wallet if you are having a huge amount of coins.

As per the question is coinbase a safer wallet than blockchain
In my opinion the blockchain is best then anyone wallet because blockchain is official wallet for the bitcoin .
But here no doubt that there are many wallets which are proving the blockchain with less facilities because many of the wallets are having best feature than blockchain .
Here my best wallet is myscellium and zebpay and coinbase .
But here if you are using coinbase then you should be careful that you shouldn't have the btcjam account with the same email I'd , because if your btcjam account is hacked by anyone then probably he can steal all of your bitcoin  . Since I never came in this type of problem but recently one of my friend said the same words for coinbase .
For newbie coinbase is better charge free .

In my view Coinbase is one of most safe wallets I have no issue in last many months using this without any problem may be some have issues and some prefer hardware wallets but this is also trust-able and any one can use without any problem support is also very quick and sportive
Agree with you.Coinbase is also safest wallet near to me.I am using coinbase about 1 years without facing any issue. But manny member already posts they have a serious issue about coinbase.Maybe they used coinbase for gambling purposes. So why their account was banned. Before joining any site, we need to read their FAQ.
I try to use all online wallet in order to avoid theft, I split my bitcoin into different wallets and one of them is coinbase and for some reason my account got banned which does not make any sense because I didn’t use it for anything, I really don’t know what the problem was I tried contacting the support but they just ignored me.
Sorry to hearing that. Do you use your coinbase wallet for gambling purposes? If you used, Then its one reason for banning your account. Coinbase does not allow gambling. I recommended you, Before joining any site first read their TOS & FAQ. I found it reading coinbase TOS & FAQ.
I know coinbase support system are very delay, But hope you will get a response about 2-3 days. I also mail them, they gave me to reply after 3 days later. Try to contact them again. Hope your problem will be solve.

I think it's really just preference. If we are just speaking in terms of using an online wallet to hold/send/receive bitcoin (and nothing else), both wallets are pretty good.
Personally, I'm not fond of the newer blockchain.info user interface at all - but it's still a decent wallet.
Choosing between coinbase and blockchain i would choose blockchain because of its new features which you could able to secure your private keys already unlike on coinbase and take note its not a purely webwallet but an exchange wallet. They do really hold or freeze account if they know that you are using it on gambling transactions.
Well, Transfer Bitcoin by coinbase are very fast if both sender and receiver use coinbase. Because when you send the Bitcoin by email, they will instantly move to the email owner within a second. If you care about the private keys or the security, you should never use online wallet because even if they provide you they private keys, it still very hard to prevent hackers from attacking the site.
Hacking incidents is very possible on this wallets and take not that coinbase is not a web wallet but an exchanger which means we are using wallet from an exchange.Im still using coinbase but not too often compared to blockchain and you are right private keys should really be the concern to have more secure wallet.
We're most all concerning about hacking incidents with online bitcoin wallet. Some wallet have strong security ,2FA code and others but hackers good enough gaining access to your Bitcoin wallet easily. So far online wallet never suggest specially when you have hold a good number of bitcoins in the wallet.

Don't be regret later! Better to move all your amount on coinbase wallet or every online wallet you used, there's no guaranteed your funds safe, why? There are some possibility: hacker, collapse and to be a scam company. Don't close your eyes to kind of case like Mt.gox, mintpal, inputs, ect.

While talking about safety purpose Coinbase as a online wallet should have negative feedback coming automatically.Though i would feel good recommend you coinbase. So far no issue at all unless you have followed their TOS when using this service.
Using my experience i can commit that so far I didn't face any problem using Coinbase.Still going smoothly without any wrong.
Just like in your case, I've seen many users who have been using the service for quite some time, and have no big problems with that. Regarding complaints, there are cases of users who have had problems that have been resolved by the support. On the other hand, there is a considerable number of users who complain that both the service and the support are inefficient, this is what worries many people about the quality of the service. I think coinbase needs to start hearing these complaints and start solving these problems if they intend to increase their user base.

Coinbase has a multisig Vault option which gives you more control over your funds for advanced users. I appreciate the fact that they offer the option but many may find using a hardware wallet is preferable. Trezors and Ledger Nano S are easy to use and you maintain complete control over your private keys.

about coinbase i think that is a safe wallet but the original of coinbase service is to exchange bitcoin, because i remember that in the first day of coinbase give to new users free 5$ who can be withdrawl, so i think she is a safe as wallet or exchange service and very serieus service and you can use it as wallet without any problem
this is what i think

From the start I often search between coinbase and blockchain and I have read a number of reviews about these two wallets and I have found a number of people who were complaining about coinbase but not found any person who have any serious issue with blockchain so I will recommend blockchain.

And those reviews about coinbase is making me start not to use them and if you are not that responsible with your profits for gambling and you mistakenly send it to your coinbase wallet directly, then your account will be frozen because they are implementing strict rules with those matters. Blockchain is also my choice I find it easy to use and more secured(I guess).
But sometimes I think that those people who do not do transactions with gambling companies will not find any problem from coinbase side. I also heard a number of people having issues with coinbase but I think that if someone read the rules before joining and follow them all then he will not face any issue from them.

Sometimes it is also our fault on not reading the rules and regulations that an exchange / online wallet site is implementing. Basically you are right, if we are not doing gambling related things and don't have profits from there then we are not going to have any problems with coinbase. But still just like what you've said, those people who are complaining are making coinbase to be avoided.

I see that a large number of users still use the service, so I think it would be unfair to say it is a service with no quality. But I think it's more risky to use coinbase wallet than to use some other wallet services, as there are too many users complaining about it.

No one online wallet are safe.I also asked about this in this forum. Many peoples recommended me desktop/hardware wallet. Only hardware/desktop wallet are safe and secure. But they also are unsafe, If you can't use them properly.for using desktop/hardware wallet your computer must be clean and must have not any viruses. However, I am using coinbase wallet. Its best near to me.Its safe and secure and most usefull offer is its have no transaction fees.I never found any problem with this wallet. But peoples said, coinbase are so problematic.

What coinbase locks accounts involved in gambling? who are they vice or something? this is rather a stupid question, anyone knowing bitcoin should also know which way is the safest way to handle money.
Electrum.
Multisig addresses.
Core wallet.

As per the question is coinbase a safer wallet than blockchain
1.Coinbase is not a wallet.Coinbase is an exchange.
2.Coinbase doesn't give your control your wallet, blockchain.info does.
3.Being said that, blockchain.info runs online which makes them vulnerable to n number of attacks.Alternative : Electrum.
1.Coinbase has been considered as a third party wallet. You have to admit this truth. Sorry
2. You can not fully control your Bitcoin in blockchain. They only let you to control your private keys and some other alternative things on it
3. All online wallets can be harmed by hackers or some DDOS attack.

Blockchain.info its a web wallet, (the less safe wallets). Coinbase is an exchange i supose that it has high security than a web wallet. But if you want to bet on casinos, this isn't your wallet. If you want a safe wallet, try hardware wallets or software wallets (or a simple paper wallet as a cold storage).

The point of bitcoin in the first place is for it to be your own bank. How can it be your own bank when someone else controls it for you in the case of coinbase and blockchain ? I suggest you start being your own bank by using desktop wallets like Electrum and MultibitHD which are quite secure and much more user friendly. The worst of all bitcoin wallets are web based ones.

What process do you use to back up your local wallet? Do you use a paper wallet? Do you use Trezor or the like? I wouldn't like for my BTC to be easily stolen like a mobile phone would.

in my opinion coinbase isn't good unless you are just using it for exchanges
why to hold your coins in a site that may ban your account , it's like a centralized area it's totally against the main purpose of bitcoin

AFAIK, coinbase having good & live customer support and blockchain doesn't. And in coinbase you've to trust third party for your funds but in blockchain, you've control over your coins. Decide yourself.

I am using blockchain.info and electrum from quite few times now without any problem. Coinbase is actually trusted but i have seen few members getting their account blocked by coinbase suspecting source of bitcoint they received are from illegal sources.

Firstly they're a wallet service provider, since they don't let you have the keys, they can't be called a wallet because you're dependent on them to send and receive coins on your behalf and should anything happen to the site tomorrow, you won't be able to do anything but wish that they come back. So unless they're providing you an insurance of loss by theft or otherwise, I don't think they're safe. Although, having been said that, up until now, they seem to be running a legit business and haven't seen or heard bad about them but still, don't store your whole wealth there.

As per the question is coinbase a safer wallet than blockchain

As long as you do not do anything illegal you can use coinbase wallet, if you do anything illegal then they will close/freeze your account. I use sometimes the coinbase wallet as i have their application on my phone and it is good and safe enough. The cons about coinbase is that if their servers or website goes offline then you can't use your bitcoins.

both of them are online (web) wallets which are considered bad wallets which are unsafe.

the difference between the two is that you have access to your private keys on blockchain.info while you don't have access on coinbase so if coinbase blocks your account because of their TOS you can't do anything and will lose your money.

also both can be hacked, they both have username and password type of login so they are susceptible . you can use 2FA to increase the security a bit though.

I believe that Coinbase is safe as it is being backed up by a somewhat large company. Which mean they have the right people and tools for all your needs. In addition, take a look at this webpage if you haven't - https://www.coinbase.com/security/.

However, I'd strongly recommend you to stay away from web based wallet as far as possible.

As with blockchain.info, you're not safe against hacks at your end. You are insured if they get hacked. If you fall afoul of their rules such as them being able to trace your coins for gambling or selling them on then they'll boot you out. Personally I'm not interested in playing by their rules.

I highly recommend coinbase. It has no issue at all and it is more userfriendly and with a highly advance service. It's API is most popular and implemented in a lot of sites. It is not just a wallet but a complete manager.
