I kind of knew they were facing some type of security issues 38 hours ago.
I could not even log in either and had my page redirected and then asked me to log back in at the original screen when you are not a member yet asks you for needing to register again.
I had coins in that account and I thought I have lost them now due to a security breach. They were from a send I did just 20 minutes before this breach happened. Roll Eyes

I'm also facing same problem with coinbase.Could not attempt to log in.It's seems doubt is they're really troubled with any issue? For me it's very urgent to solve this problem as soon as possible, hope they might be done.
Try it again. I was also unable to access them earlier.
But fortunately, they have already resolved this issue about 2 - 3 hours ago.

https://status.coinbase.com  <- : I saw this link on another thread and it's a great page to check first when you're having issues. They gave updates there almost hourly for this recent issue.

I just tried to log in to my coinbase account and it said unable to retrieve account. Resolve by reconnecting.
This error message was in red.
Is this because of the sudden surge in bitcoin nearing the record of it's worth?

Getting this message now:

This is who we are.
There was a hacking going on when I was having issues. I knew there was something going on because for all the 2 years that I have been using them nothing like this has happened and they have DDoS attack implementation safe guards on their site. So it was a hacking going on then:

I just knew there was something up when I first posted this under technical support but then a mode moved it to this section! Roll Eyes

My thoughts are you have talked yourself into them getting hacked.  Plenty of people want to kick coinbase while they are laying down for the IRS, etc.

But mods trying to talk folks out of a run on coinbase are defeating the point of bitcoin though.  Hold your own private keys to be your own bank should be the advice, not censorship.

The site is experiencing issues, no controversy there.  The situation should be examined.

Someone posted a link on the Wall Observer yesterday to the whalepool. They had Charlie Lee (coblee) as a guest. As many of you know, along with founding Litecoin, he works as Director of Engineering at Coinbase.

Some folks asked him specifically about the outage today.
Obviously, when discussing failures, you do not want to
-Spell out attack vectors for bad guys
-Throw employees under the bus

So he reluctantly pointed out the known failure was in the database, and had been resolved.

In my view, that is the best kind of error. Once identified, they are usually fully resolved (ie missing index suddenly crushing performance amidst new, larger data in a previously sparse table).

There is definitely a "what the heck?" moment about this current correction, and the giant spreads between the exchanges. Personally, I do not believe the root cause has anything to do with Coinbase.
I find it more unsettling we currently sit at 6639 on OKCoin 6669 on BTCChina, but 7479 on Huobi.

Large spread, same currency. Why? Standard arbitrage arguments don't have the same time-delays as with international fiat-exchanging delays.
