I'm storing a couple of BTC there for now. They seem pretty safe. safer than Blockchain.info easier to log in and stuff.

It does take some time to get instant buy authorized. You have to give them your life story and then wait 30 days . I just go my instant purchase cleared and it is working.  Sucks waiting for 5 days to get your bitcoin.....

They recently received Time's Top 10 Startups of 2013 (number 2), and jumped from 200,000 accounts to 600,000 accounts.  I'd say they're solid.

+1, This makes me confident with my bitcoins on their wallet, at least small amounts

They are great, especially with 2FA, but if you are buying, you really need Instant.

Coinbase is essentially the only direct way to buy Bitcoins in the United States.  Not only do they exchange coins, but they offer an online wallet and merchant services.

coinbase is supported by the local meetup community where i am, they ask businesses to use them to hold a bitmob, usually restaurant's, in the U.S and there have not been bad reviews by the members.

Don't go for large amounts using Coinbase, it does not get positive reviews all the time.

Thank you for this info. I will stick to my local wallet.

Hi,
Rather than starting off with my own mining rig I'm thinking of joining a group buy. The thing is that these invariably need payment in BTC, so far I've checked out coinbase and they seem to be a reasonable choice for buying my coins. Can anyone who's used them comment either positively or negatively?

Also, group buys - especially on this forum. I'm willing to give one a go given the relatively small sum I'll be investing but again, has anyone had good or bad experience of them they'd be willing to share?

For small Bitcoin amounts is coinbase ideal. I dont like groupbuys, seems risky to me

I think so I use them but I'm also trying to get offline storage figured out .. Coinbase just got like 30 million in investment money so that should help them keep there bitcoin storage safe. I've also read that coinbase always keeps like 60% of all bitcoin stored at coinbase offline.. But who knows if that's really true...
