I noticed that there are quite a number of crypto-powered social media popping out in recent years. I believe the most successful one is Steemit, which most of us can agreed on. There are also other social network platforms like Appics, Uhive and etc. I am curious to know if anyone of you is willing to switch from the daily social network app like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to crypto-powered social network. And if you could, do share your reasons for doing so.
Suppose the combination is successful !!!

I think that big corporations like facebook will not ignore that in the future. I firmly believe that here everyone can see what facebook can do in this market. The media currently has a lot, i think in the future we will get a most comprehensive product.

Crypto powered social networks weren't that popular. Right now Steemit is the only social networking source that is perfectly functioning and gives people good recognition for the articles and posts shared by the users. Brave browser too have begun to give users with some BAT, maybe more social networking sites will emerge powered by cryptocurrency.

I guess, the popularity time has not yet come. Wait for a couple of years, where more people will understand that cryptocurrencies will always exist, and sooner or later, but everybody will use it. Then, these social nets will be taken better than now.

It's true that the most successful crypto powered social media is Steemit, and I'm still actively using it until now.
But I don't agree that crypto powered social media is a trend these days, Because when compared to daily social
networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, there is still a far shortage of active users. Myself more comfortable
using Twitter than Steemit.

Other than Steemit no social networking platform gained the importance. Steemit is something different, and gives everything ina precise manner. As Steemit is the very first of its kind more people are used to it. Further the reward system of Steemit is quite interesting and helps in acquiring knowledge. I haven't used to other platforms thats been mentioned in the OP. There might be more effective platforms, but those haven't reached the community. This is where most of the success projects failand go out of usage.

Steemit is definitely the most popular in the crypto space and till date no other has succeeded in beating it. However, talking about trends in the crypto space, it is something that happens often and most times the projects that starts the trend are the legit ones because the idea in the onset is unique but then, others that comes after, a good number of them are just there to follow the hype and scam; this case scenario can be likened to that of social network trends. Now currently, it is Defi projects although the hype is diminishing some are still coming up, out of which few are genuine as well.
Furthermore, I think it will be difficult for people to stop using Facebook, Twitter etc for a crypto based social network, this is because those platforms has stood the test of time and hence having massive users, not only that, they keep improving to sustain their growth. However, it can still be possible if the crypto based social network will offer exceptional services.

I agree that successful social media in the cryptocurrency space is steemit. Even though there are many projects working on social media projects, I think people will still use Facebook or existing social media platforms because not everyone knows about cryptocurrency projects.

It's a gradual process. The jump might not happen today but in the coming years when many people would have signed up on these platforms, it will be easier to witch from the current social media apps.

I will not completely switch to a crypto-powered social network if most of my friends and family are still using the currenct social media platform though I'm planning to try those crypto-powered platform because they offer good crypto rewards to their users just by using the platform.

because crypto social networks don't use it that much, and I think only a few people know it especially crypto users, while other people still use commercial social networks that they usually use

Blockchain-based social media platform creation is an excellent idea. I think it fits the spirit of Blockchain.

Although Steemit was the first pioneer, he faced some problems and gradually began to lose his old importance.

In recent months, Steemit has launched a new campaign called #Newsteem, for resurrection, but I have questions about how well this campaign has gone.

Frankly, I would like people to abandon centralized social media applications like Facebook and Instagram because these companies have been repeatedly proven to steal user data, which is not pleasant.

There are too many blockchain-based social media apps around, but I think none of them sounded like Voice.com. I am looking forward to this application designed by the EOS team, which is still in the project phase.

Steemit is a good project. I think it's a good idea to "resurrect" it. I kind of think that whole thing should be started afresh especially now that market is abit stable.
Some things need to change to make Steemit more appealing to more people like facebook. It should be easy to use too. There should be great ways to promote it to the grassroots with little budget considering it's not really a profit driven thing.

Maybe they are alive but when you are tracking their histories and they were not showing good progress on the result of development. People will still confidence to use the centralized social media rather than crypto-powered social media. Why do we need move to the new platforms while almost all of our friends and families were still using centralized social media like facebook, twitter ,etc.
I'm not willing to do that, I have tried use matchpool and that was a failure project. No people had used it.

I have switched from Steemit to Golos, the reason is simple because more Golos are discussing about crypto there, and in my opinion the Golos platform is more simple and easy to understand
I thought that if GOLOL is available for Russian only as so many Russian are using it while others are sticking to the publish0x. I remember about the majority of the writers were moving to the medium before it was implicating a very strict regulation to the crypto content.

I think Steemit has funding issues, if not why the many ads making the platform look crappie. The issue with most of these crypto social platforms is that they can't compete with mainstream centralized social platforms at the moment. Talking about VOICE by block.one , I registered for the beta version but no recent update at the moment.

Agree that now there is not a single crypto social network that would be at least about as convenient as the giants of the market. It seems to me at this time that few people will be able to jump over themselves and create something new and unique in this area.

I do not mind using such social networks, but the fact is that few people know about them. But on the other hand, there is no difference whether there is encryption in the social network or not.

I am using a couple of them for the last couple years, primarily steemit, and I make a nice little extra side income from them.

Honestly, the only reason I use those sites is because of that extra little income, and imo so is the majority of the other people. So, no, they are not a "trend" at all. Remove the rewards, and the users of all these sites will go to 0 the very next day. As things are, not a single one of them has any chances of actually going mainstream. Facebook, Instagram etc all became famous because for whatever reason people actually enjoyed using them. Not because they were getting paid to use them.. Having said that, in the next months some nice changes are finally coming to Steemit, mainly communities and SMTS, which will make it a bit more like reddit and hopefully will help it spread among the masses.

On a sidenote, publish0x.com also seems to be doing really fine according to Alexa Wink

I don't think that it's necessarily a trend.

Steemit has been around for a long time now and we don't really see it blooming into anything major any time soon. It is way past its previous identity as one of the top altcoins, and the hype has died down very much.

I think that the reason why people used to hype up this kind of project so much is due to the fact that it generated profit for those who used it. But right now, there is no more free money to be had in crypto winter.
Steemit traffic dropped alot this year and I think it will continue to drop even more. (Source: Alexa). Steemit was paying fairly a good amount of money at the beginning plus the crypto market boomed at that time so people made alot of money. Nowadays it's not worth your time to spend on writing. This is actually problem with many incentive based promotions. One you stop paying something to the users, they will leave your project.

As much as I'd like to because it is related to crypto but I just can't. It is not that I am used to using facebook, twitter and instagram but I cannot just let go my communication to my social friends, relatives, and or family specially because they are non crypto user. On the other hand, I am still can handle such platforms even without though it is when the time of I am into crypto; doing work stuff something like that.

I think they are good for the growth and spread of crypto. They will be battling it out for domination though since there are a few of them and look at facebook it is basically the only one which shows that people do not want a whole lot of different social networks but rather one or two they can find everyone on and communicate with a large audience. I hope one day there will be a place like facebook to go where you can find many many crypto users.

I have seen a lot of projects that did ICOs back in 2018 to build a social network that would be based on blockchain. I am still following those projects, but nobody has even released a prototype yet, so this field is still pretty young.

I made a thread on platforms based on blockchain or tokenized, so it would be great to have a list of projects that could come up soon.

I have seen many unsuccessful attempts to create a new better social network that would reward its users but none of them was successful. Maybe it was due to lack of trust and transparency in the project, but this could be solved by a blockchain technology, right? So I believe that Voice will achieve better results.

The reason anyone would want to prefer a crypto powered or sponsored social media platform over the conventional types might be for the sake of crypto adoption. There are some platforms that are aimed for that and not just for the sake of profit making. Some of them do not have their indigenous tokens, rather, they reward their users with already listed tokens.

The more services and platform appear on the blockchain, the larger the community becomes. Large social networks look at this trend and understand that the future for blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and the one who first integrates innovation into his social network, will get a good profit. Facebook and Telegram are already working in this direction, and there is durgie. All this makes us understand that sooner or later social networks will use blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

There was a lot of everything. Different projects used ICO as way of easy crowdfunding. They could do it without any regulations and there was at least in 2016 and 2017 a lot of stupid money founding those project that would never get any normal investors.

You are right! Many crypto-based social network, content, marketplace platform has been launched in the last two years! But honestly I haven't found any good of it so I can move in them from facebook, twitter! With the time, all the crypto powered social network starts becoming garbage, shit or dead! This is not a trend, this is another way to make money from the ICO/IEO sale. I have decided to not invest in Music, Social network, marketplace based crypto project!

It's hard for me to compete with the king of social media like Facebook or others, to switch to crypto-powered social media. very reasonable in my opinion because the king of social media (Fb, IG, Twitter) because it is earlier and people are more comfortable using it. in my opinion can make people switch, if lured lured with money. platforms such as steemit in a particular country many do not know it or even forbid it.

I can not. Currently facebook is an indispensable thing for me because I have many friends there and need to contact them every day.
That's why I can't give up on Facebook just to go to cryptocurrency-powered social networks. It will be very boring when people are just trying to make money instead of providing funny entertaining jokes.

You should create this thread in the altcoin services section, I'm used to Facebook and don't think of switching to crypto-paid social networks, I have a Steemit account and several other crypto paid social networking accounts, but now I never use it again because I'm not very comfortable with paid social networking, anyway the pay is not much, because I will not sacrifice my pleasure just for a little money.
How is using a crypto based social network going to be a sacrifice of your pleasure? You can enjoy it as you usually do, but instead of getting nothing, you will at least be getting some coins. That is even more fun/pleasurable experience!
You waste your time in social media site, then why not just waste it in some other platform while you manage to earn something?

I think that they may be underdeveloped still, I have an account on Steemit, but I only made a couple of posts before I gave up on it. The experience felt relatively limited. They might be a thing in the future, but for now, I don't think I would switch completely.

method of using social networking crypto allows users to get crypto for free but if the family of friends in other social media ,like Facebook is something that will make you lazy because you have to switch from this website then that well the longer user will be upset and will choose the crowd a family

They targeted social media platforms because they believe it will be a trend, they are assuming to be like facebook with a bunch of users around the world.
With a lot of audiences, they can promote to a large scale of people but the question is, will their platform click? I guess not, I have encountered a lot of new start-ups projects that fail with a concept of crypto social media. I guess twitter and facebook, etc. is hard to beat they have gained their reputation. These new startups have bump into a wall. Grin

in the competition the social media industry is indeed difficult to compete with popular social networks, because they already have many users. and some crypto social media currently have a lot of users, I think it will be difficult for a new project with the concept of social media to compete in the market

I could if there's an actual reward for it. Unlike Facebook, they don't share their revenue with their users. But if a crypto-blockchain based social media has come and they're rewarding their users on a daily basis even with limitations, I think I'll use them. Just look with Brave Browser, the popularity of it spread like wildfire because of its reward system. And not just that, because of its low consumption to our RAMs as an alternative to chrome, people used it.
This comparison is enough to see the upcoming revolution in the social media platforms, it becomes addictive after first use for the experienced tech-savvy guys. As an alternative to the old fashion Explorer, the browser product of Google changed the look of browsing the internet and the chromium-based alternative browsers compete until today for hitting the best place. The same idea is actual for the blockchain reward distributes social media crypto startups.
There should be a continuous development not just for these browsers as you have given as an example. It's fairly enough to start rewarding users so that they can continue to contribute to each other. Users contributing to the platform, while the platform rewarding the users as sort of recognition for their users. But this kind of business model wouldn't be taken by the old type of social networks because it's kind of hard for them to adjust if this is going to be their case.

If the kind of browser that is started by Brave will become the trend nowadays especially in this age of cryptocurrency, other browsers must have to think of ways to compete or else they will follow the footsteps of Yahoo when Google, Mozilla, and other players came into the game. Google has generated billions of profit out of it and they did not even reward a few cents to the users. Brave is earning the support of many because of its reward system.

I don't know if I really switch in crypto social network, but there are many of them and still new, don't know how many people involve with it. I better to stick facebook and twitter there are many crypto enthusiast than in crypto social networks.
crypto social networks will not be popular until the cryptocurrency market itself has a large number of users. there are very few people in the industry now
Let's see the fact.

Mostly people are still using popular social network platforms like 0x platforms.
Remember there were a lot of social network projects in the cryptocurrency too. Crypto has a large number of users maybe millions of users but the problem is the project that focused to develop crypto powered by social network is not focusing on platform development.

As far as i know when we back again to the era when steem became a very popular social network in crypto and you will know if that's ever happened with crypto.

People these days are looking for utility usage from the token combined with the platform. Crypto social network doesn't need a large number of users to be a popular platform. That just need to be a trusted and a good platform.

Grin

Actually we can find some social network projects for cryptocurrency. But so far, the most popular projects may be Facebook (Libra) and also Telegram coin. Previously, you may find One Social and some others. However, most of them are not promising and they tend to be failed after the ICO ends. In this case, actually social network project-based is actually promising, however, we must be smart in choosing why they are interesting.

Honestly many people hyped steemit because publishing articles on it wayback was profitable, but not right now. Steemit now has too many ads, well I think it's a means to generate funds to support the project. However, I'm yet to see a very successful social network crypto project with mainstream acceptance.

They decided to enable ads because they didn't want to continue selling steem to fund the development team. Having ads means there is less selling pressure on steem than there was last year.

If later there is a social network that is more popular than Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, surely later I will try to choose that social network for various purposes including for Cryptocurrency.  But because right now I am used to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so at this time I haven't tried the other network.

But there are traditional/centralized social media related platforms that are succeeding and making steady progress. The problem is with these crypto start Ups. If there's anybody to blame is them. With the kind of funds they raised in 2017, they could've join the ranks of the big boys by now. I wasn't a fan of steemit from the onset.

The fact that you can get paid on a crypto powered social network for posting beautiful things like write ups is a major reason why many people will love to use Steemit for instance over other social media. But that is not to say all the other social media so not  have their own advantages. They definitely do. What informs an individual's choice of social media network is what is needed to be achieved by that individual

Yes, we have many social media platform built on blockchain technology trying to come out on a daily basis, and this is the same reason why Facebook too is trying to join the raise as usual so that they can be ahead of all these social media platform, and talking of migrating from Facebook is not important because they will eventually do the same as these other ones too and don’t also forget that Facebook owns Instagram and will all join in the blockchain too.

One of the reasons why I would buy into the idea of some of these platforms you mentioned is the financial benefit of it to me, because most of those social media platform rewards you for using their platform unlike the ordinary platform like Facebook for now that only benefit us.

Instead of switching from a certain social media platform to another, why not just use both? I mean crypto-powered social media is great too but others like Facebook and twitter are the popular one. Why are we in social media? To interact and socialize with people, and since they're a big socmed platform, it's easier to interact and update there since a lot of people are already using it. Even our personal friends. It's easier to approach everyone.
And as for crypto platforms, they still need more recognition that's why we're here to also promote it to others.

Crypto base social media platforms are needed plenty of time before they can catch up the social media giants like facebook or twitter, BTW comparing Steemit to facebook and twitter is just a miles away, most of the crypto base social media apps are buggy and the graphics are poor that's why it needs to improve more to be able to capture the market share. I'm not against of the proliferation of Blockchain base social media all i care is they need to improve so they can compete with the giants by using decentralized weapons of privacy.

i think steemit is different from other social media based crypto projects because steemit to me is like an article or blog making website where you need to write an eye catchy article to get notice and get paid  . this is why i dont like steemit as its hard to earn on it if your goal is to earn an income but you dont have a real talent on writing original articles   . i rather prefer those facebook a like platform but you can get paid on crypto just by posting a simple status and media uploads as they are more easier to do and also enjoyable  .

Yes - steemit is more like Medium than like Facebook or Twitter.

There was talk a while ago of making tipping bots so people could tip on twitter or facebook, but it all died because users don't like to tip even a few pennies.

Only reason i went to Facebook was that all of my friends were in there already. I found out that it was easier way to stay in touch then the phone. Then they switched to Instagram, but that's not really switching because it's owned by the same company. That being said, i don't think that any of my friends would switch to any obscure network, they would have done it already because there has been competition.

I would love to support and have supported the new crypto-based platforms, but i see absolutely no reason to hang around there. They are not yet wide enough communities to talk anything that really interest me except crypto. And crypto is literally the only thing i talk about in there.

Though I love bitcoin I still don't have a solid reason for me to switch into social media powered by crypto. I am used to using Facebook I have my stuff connected to that as well my connection to my friends and my relatives which on the other hand social media powered by crypto can as well offer but my connection to my friends specially my relatives wouldn't exist no more because first thing first is that they are not familiar.
Facebook and Twitter might be a social media that is quite widely used in my opinion. especially on Facebook, there are lots of communities in there to find information. but for the best crypto social media I still believe in steemite

I am good with Facebook and twitter for social media activities and i don't have any plan to switch to any crypto-powered social platforms unless they provide some thing different.
The thing which existing social media platforms (facebook, twitter etc) lack is privacy/security. Many accounts are hacked on daily basis through different approach.
If I find any platform with better privacy and security I would love to switch no matter if it would be crypto-powered or not.

Personally I like decentralised social networks users can really benefit from it from being compensated from everything they do on the network. Unlike the existing social media giants that only the company are harvesting the benefits of selling users data.

Social media such as Facebook and Twitter don't seem to need to be associated with crypto let alone use the paid concept to every user, brands don't need crypto to increase revenue. It is precisely crypto that should be grateful and in need of social media, if social media migrates with a paid crypto system I think people will look elsewhere, and that is a disadvantage for the social media products.
Steemit, this is indeed one type of social media but it is very far compared to Facebook and Twitter.

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter become my social media networks every day and get lots of information. If social media is replaced by crypto social media, in my opinion it is very difficult and cannot be compared. Everyday social media is not the same as crypto social media. I will not switch. crypto social media is just additional information.

Personally, I think many here have not explored very well what currently exists that can work, at least they are social media based on blockchain or tokenized, have somewhat limiting issues, for example there are platforms that are oriented exclusively to a niche or theme:

For example:

https://trybe.one/?ref=5296 This is a platform more oriented to crypto, blockchain and everything related to that, is a token based on EOS, good community, the text editor is similar to many others, has a system in which their publications must be approved, plus it has a chat and messaging system, rating system and ranks, airdrops depending on the stake.

https://www.publish0x.com/?a=9wdL9vwejP This is another platform where they are oriented to cryptomundo, blockchain, and related issues, the difference is that it is agnostic, has 3 cryptos, including bat, the value of vote of users which have a bar that can decide the percentage given to the author, on average the vote is 0.01$, and you want to vote for articles, the time to vote for the same author is 24 hours, and for other authors 9 minutes, if bob wants to vote for alice, he votes, and if bob decides to return to vote for an alice publication, he must wait 24 hours, there is a clock in alice's profile, bob now wants to reward Marcus' post, he waits 9 minutes since he voted for alice.

https://www.uptrennd.com/signup/NzgxNQ this is another platform oriented to the world of cryptos, the difference is that here, the points that one accumulates, are used for several things, from buying greater visualizations doing it trend, to accumulating them in the account to raise the level, these levels serve for: at level 5 you can have your reference link and gain 100 1up for each referral, after level 10, each vote you receive increases to 0.1, ie if you have level 12, you receive 1.2 1up for each vote you are given.

https://www.narrative.org This platform is more open than the first, interesting aspects of this platform: The purchase of niches, which give you a bonus for being the owner of such a niche works through an auction, the form of distribution of profit, is distributed according to the votes, comments, publications ie the activity you do on the platform, the 2 of each month are distributed, has a mature community, but small, have a court for issues of the platform, especially on appeals of plagiarism.

After those platforms there are others oriented to other niches as they can be:

https://scorum.com : This platform is oriented to 2 topics, blog about sports, even e-sport, is really useful in this platform buy scr, and stake it, have 2 or more accounts and vote the publication to always be trend, in addition to giving rewards to other users, has a good community but need even more users, the other way they use scorum is as a betting platform using scr as a currency a great way to earn income.

https://smoke.io/ This platform is about cannabis, everything revolves around that, it has its own token called smoke, I think it's a bts derivative.

https://beta.cent.co/ this platform is like microtipping on eth, do a kind of surveys or questions, obviously you can create yours, choose the best comments and are rewarded, is an interesting way to publicize something.

Continuing with the same theme: https://www.masmic.com questions and answers, winning xml, in addition to https://tipestry.com/ another microtipping platform, obviously need users who make use of that platform as most of those I have named, https://flote.app/ another platform, https://www.zapread.com , https://www.creator.eco/ , https://whaleshares.io/ , https://fast.bearshares.com/, https://main.weku.io/ .

That is to say there are so many platforms, so that only give as an example steemit, always try to write for news platforms on cryptos[But I always end up rejected, and it's unfortunate, but I'll try again until I can win by writing about things I love in cryptoworld, I have experience in those platforms and others that do not name, I hope you will find useful the information I have left, also as I am a fan of social media based on blockchain or tokenized, and cryptogames.

Steemit is not the best social platform really, 3 years there, and my vision change radically, there is a kind of dictatorship by those who have stake, also by those witness who become bullies, is a proof of fame, are currently killing those who make use of bid bots, after 2 years, almost 3, that the system was absurdly profitable and that kept users who do not get rewards but wanted to be trennding, monetize in steemit is, to be lucky for many, for those who understood the system was to make a project, a trail, ask for delegations, and interact with the really famous users, in the meetups, or steemfest, and obviously talk about how much you do for the ecosystem, here the best part is taken by the developers, although they placed projects that plundered steem, like dlive (which became linen), they had big delegations, and so, there have been plagiers and thugs as well, scammers, of everything on the platform, whale egos warfare, fights between communities that some seem more political parties, leaders of communities that don't move masses, but make a profit boasting of being leaders, getting advantage of such an image, most users are not so committed to the platform, the other is that each hardfork that passes, becomes more and more complex, new concepts, new ways which frightens new users, in the personal steemit as blog does not really work today, better is dtube, vymm, or use dapps of the blockchain de steem, my 3 cents.

Large community, active members, popular, will surely become a potential land for the development of cryptocurrency. The existence of a large supporting network is one of the keys to the success of the project informing market capacity. Moreover, it relates to everyday life, where modern humans make it to actualize themselves. If Facebook and Instagram as one of the popular social media today are able to innovate by utilizing cryptocurrency to improve their performance and services, of course it will be good news. Let's wait for the development of Facebook next year.

Social media projects are not very a trend for this year because many social media projects are almost the same and there is no unique innovation from them.

Steemit has made the lead in this niche. They were the earliest who came out creating their own token for their site. And who will forget Telegram (GRAM) with its billion-worth ICO? Telegram has now the highest worth of this kind of company who turned into tokenizing their services as their way of joining the crypto trend.

I think it is not material to me whether the site is crypto-powered or not. Convenience has to be the first consideration. I am using the social media sites where my friends are.

Social media is very powerful and I have no doubts about that. Among billions of people living in the world only few percent are not into social media those probably old and dont have resources to do so. In crypto space its the same, many projects are incorporating blockchain tech into social app and platform cause they know people will use and try it. Like what Libra is trying to accomplish. I guess many platform will come out soon related to social media, but I like steemit one of my favorite platform for content and social related blockchain.

But those crypto lovers, they all know how useful the crypto powered social network especially if you are looking for an updated news about crypto, you have services that is related to crypto and you are a marketing official in crypto community.

Im not willing to switch, but that's only cause i don't use social media at all anymore
I think Steemit should continue to do well, theres a few projects trying to copycat it, but it seems to be keeping ahead, it has alot of development time into it
It will be interesting to see what thing the next generation in 5 years will get into, as facebook is losing popularity day by day, will future social media platforms always be decentralized in the future?

In my opinion it is very difficult to switch to crypto social networks. Because social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have become an important part of daily life to get information and social relationships with friends and distant relatives. The crypto social network will probably only become one of the backup social media that allows us to find out news about cryptocurrency problems that occur and will not be the main social network, but still useful.

Social media is a fast tool to apply the state of self. Whether it's just writing status, uploading photos and videos, or just looking at someone else's.
I think it's too far behind if crypto makes a social network application because there are so many out there. If it is coupled with the lure of getting free coins, I think social media will only be temporarily crowded because if the coin distribution is used up, the social media will be abandoned. Except for social media which provides broad insights such as, publish0x, steemit, medium, etc. Because there we can read something useful and of course we also write something there.

I don't know if I will be switching to other social media or blogging platform just because they are new. I mean does it make sense to break what you have been use to?

I'm more of a twitter guy, so I won't simply switch, although you might say that there are incentives to it, but as of know, the pay is still cheap, in my opinion.

These are definitely interesting. I haven't any of it for now. As I've read this thread I'm getting curious about it. I'm into social media like facebook, twitter and instagram among others. I'm an android user, are these downloadable in playstore? I will try to check on it.
There are available in app store. It will depend on how comfortable you are in social media like facebook since its somehow different in format and needs to have feedbacks in quality post or meme you'd share. Most of my friends are not interested in crypto so I still used Facebook and steemit just for some browsing.

No i won't switch yet because there isn't yet any credible alternative to existing social media sites.

Steemit is the leader (yes I have seen publish0x but it is nowhere near as good) but it is plagued by:

1) primarily the early distribution went to a few whales who would only upvote their own friends and countrymen. Basically, everyone writes there to try to grab whales' attention. Owners of Steemit destroyed it before they could even develop it further.

2) also it needs some moderation, the categories are awful.

Honestly, it would not be difficult to make a competitor that could dominate the market.

In my opinion, social media has great potential in the internet world. With social media, people will find it easy to trade and many new projects want to take this opportunity. If they are able to attract just 5% of the population, they will get more than 100 million members and this is a huge economic potential.

indeed many people still use social media to spread information about cryptocurrency as often happens in many Twitter like that, even though like that in social media I only see the cryptocurrency information available so that I can know the development of a coin also on Twitter.

at this time if for example a social media network was developed with the power of crypto I think it would definitely be very popular among people who use social media because in an age of changing digital technology now many of them are very attractive to benefit via online rather than they play social media all day long without the slightest entrance fee, I hope that in the future Facebook will officially launch libra so that social media fans can benefit.
It will only depend how the platform can get the attention of the users. There are many social media attempt before that you can earn $ but not crypto  related, but they failed to make it more popular to users. Users only use the platform to make money and not to use it as a regular social platform and that was the problem of that idea.

Why not there has been a lot of attempt in the past and some of them have done crowdfunding, we are a growing community, and we need interaction because  we are  already mainstream, maybe we can have something like Facebook and not only forum, I am more than willing to switch because I don't like the so many fake news and fake advertisement and our data being exploited by sites like Facebook.

I have a Steemit account and several other crypto paid social networking accounts, but now I never use it again because I'm not very comfortable with paid social networking, anyway the pay is not much
I don't have a steemit account but I'm somewhat familiar with it, and I didn't realize that the pay was low.  I think it depends on how popular what you write is, am I right?  There have been threads here linking to steemit articles and it always looked like the writers were getting paid pretty well.  I actually like that idea a lot, and I think it's a great use of crypto, letting users vote with their money as to which articles/posts are the best.  There have been some very informative ones I've read, no doubt written with the hope of getting paid but good ones nevertheless.

I don't know if this is becoming a trend or not, tho.  Steemit is the only such site I've heard of, and the ones op mentioned must be based out of countries far, far away from the U.S. (where I'm at).  As I said, I think these sites are a really good idea, and I'm not a big user of social media sites myself.

One pays you the other just data mines you, i guess the incentive is there...

Its like those bounties that pay you when posting in the "classic" social networks, but with the payment system built in. You pay and get paid for views, likes and comments. But in their token which might not make it such a good deal after all...

Well i suppose some people will try their best to "pull their friends out" the common networks, but its always the "social" factor the hard one. People won't easily change, "my friends are there"...

Its actually easier when you DON'T use any of the classic networks, you got "nothing to lose". Reminds me of people's Windows addiction...

Actually i am willing to try if they have a good one but they need to make it  much more users friendly like facebook  that you can easily post anything about your self. The idea of earning while c ommunicating with your love ones is good insight for me.

Steemit is different since this only a blogging platfrom with the opportunity to earn from upvote.

it is the hype of 2017. whenever someone created a new idea and copied the technology without innovation and then made some profit, at least 50 others copied that idea and repeated the same thing and all failing.

if they could some day create a truly decentralized social network then i would definitely use it without hesitation. the problem is that so far we have seen none. all these projects like steemit that you mentioned are centralized which means they are no different than Facebook,...

It's one of the few ways of earning cryptocurrency - and if you are in say Venezuela or the Philippines, then these kind of sites are useful.

However, most of them don't take the next step which is to build an ecommerce network around them where people can spend the coins they earn. Hopefully one of these sites will end up doing it.

Steemit is really good, if people happen to like you articles, you can get paid for having posted them. There is also another social network for posts called Publish0x that is similar to steemit. Medium is my favorite but I don't think that they pay with cryptocurrency for publishing your material.

Probably move this to service discussion, not really related to bitcoin discussions.

Anyway, I definitely think it's gotten a lot of attention in recent years, and having features like being able to earn rewards and basically make money of using social media is very attractive to a lot of Millenials nowadays.

A lot of these networks like steemit for example, only reward people who put a lot of attention in their work, so the communities often feel a lot tighter but a lot closer, which is an aspect I actually like.
