It's not safe to trade here anymore, after the recent hacking there will be no second chance for this exchange, you can trade your coins here if you cannot find an exchange to your coin but trade immediately then leave, their reputation is badly tarnished because of the hacking incident.
Once being hacked then its normal for its users and spectators to lose interest to trade here anymore but as being said
if your altcoins is mainly traded up only into this place then you wont really have any choice but as long you have sell and converted
then better to get out asap rather than to wait for an another incident.

So stands to reason those users holding coins that are not easily traded elsewhere might stay but those trading top level coins have a wide selection of exchanges to go choose from should they feel unsafe and want to move.

I still think it is much better to hold any coins in his default official wallet. Exchanges are just for trade.

I was a user of cryptopia and a few days ago cryptopia got hacked. I lost most of my coin form cryptopia and so why dont like this shit exchange. here more details about the hack: https://www.newsbtc.com/2019/01/15/breaking-crypto-exchange-cryptopia-hacked-police-starts-investigation/

I woud suggest you use Binance instead of cryptopia.because it has most of the volume and binance is mostly safest exchange.you can trust binance with your balnce.but don't hold your coin at the exchange.

what is your suggestion for coins which is not listed on Binance? what to do in that case?
Many of Altcoins was listed on Cryptopia but not on Binance. For some small communities, Binance have a too high listing fee and Cryptopia have them the opportunity to go on to the market.

I have a cryptopia account that I created two years ago, but first I didn't have KYC policy, and now I rarely trade with in exchange for cryptopia.
I just heard this news now and now I will try to monitor it

Before the hack i would say it is a trustworthy and reputable exchange. As it is registered in new zealand rather than panama it can be trusted. It is not one of the best as it mostly trades shitcoins, but it does work and people that were hacked got refunded.

Well if it has an chance of being successful or reputable it needs to make amends for the hack and assure users that it will not happen again.

The hack has put many users off and most of the very few customers it had have decided to go elsewhere

Of course they are losing customers trust and traffic. I don't think it's safe to start using it again. I don't trust any of the exchanges out there. I do not believe there are any legit exchanges either. Hacked! simply a convenient way to cover up and steal people's money, isn't that?

To be honest, I do not trust this exchange and the hacker attack showed that the security level of this exchange leaves much to be desired and, accordingly, I cannot recommend this exchange for trading.

Prior to the hack when i used it there was no requirement for KYC. I haven't used it since the hack and it is quite possible that they have changed their policies to be more stringent

I do not see it as a good move for anybody to trade, better to get your coins out as soon as they are able to then use another exchange.

Better to be safe and avoid Cryptopia until concrete announcements are made about what happened and who might have done it along with "how" the hack took place.

With all that information on hand users can decide if they want to use Cryptopia again or not.

I will never use Cryptopia again. No longer trust them and anyway they were hardly the best when it was active before the "hack"

After all, using Cryptopia only if I have altcoins listed only there, exchange it and withdrawal immediately.
it will take a long time to gain confidence again

Agree with you.

Cryptopia might never regain the trust of the community again

IMO,crypto almost prepared for the exit scam before the scam was happened but later they said that it was security breach but I still think that Cryptopia planned this earlier stage itself when people starts to lose their trust because of issues happened with every withdrawal from that exchange.

I disagree. It was next to impossible for this to be a concerted and planned attempt at collusion by the main board members to scam.

A quick search online shows Cryptopia owners having excellent reputation for honesty and not many people believe it was a scam carried out by the owners. Somehow, though, it seems 10% of the funds were stolen.

I hope in the coming days they elaborate how the scam was carried out so we all can learn to protect ourselves better.

They are just opening the site as read only mode and I think users can see the balance even if they got theft from the recent hacks because they just loaded with the previous data from before hacks happening so it is nothing changes and made the people to trust,of they can refund the lost amount then it might have some reputation.

Does Cryptopia have a KYC policy?

I would like to register on a crypto exchange and transfer some coins on it. Then I would like to make some trades.

At no point would I want to use the crypto exchange to convert coin for FIAT but I would like to keep them with a safe. Then at some point I will transfer the coins to my desktop.

I am looking for a crypto exchange that will not ask for my ID to transfer coins in or out.

I would appreciate advice please. I see on their website they purchased Nova Exchange so hopefully they will not do a Cryptsy.

I don't think cryptopia is one of the best out there but yeah, I think its on the average compared to other shabby trading platform. I think one of the reasons its so popular is its ease of use. As a newbie, when I first started trading its one of the first platforms that I used and within a day or two I was able to browse around comfortably within the whole platform. The UI is simple yet very versatile and easy to use, which is very good since what we simply want is to trade successfully.

Cryptopia is not bad. I've used it for a while now. Although the identity verification thing is a bother when withdrawing larger amounts.

How large do Cryptopia withdrawals need to be before they become problematic regarding forced KYC/AML?

poloniex is bigger and better but you need to verify your identity

Poloniex has a bad reputation. HitBTC has a bad reputation too, so does Cryptopia but it seems Cryptopia is the lesser of the three.
what is bad about poloniex? it is the oldest exchange and i have been using it since a year without any problem

When you will realise 5000$ is a small amount for trading crypto. As a fact cryptocopia is a safe place to go in any case, way safer than poloniex.

Well each exchange has its own positive attributes to offer and some are not so user friendly.

Poloniex has a bad reputation I agree with you but Cryptopia is not that far behind in negative reviews.

Cryptopia has all policies, but it's a centralised exchange with manipulated orders!
Alls orders by all coins has Bots manipulating the price of the coin, they are very sophisticated algorithms with some instructions based on your actions, that they can change the prices immediately as you receive some deposit and start to trade in any coin...

The problem is, Cryptopia is the unique Exchange who give opportunities to new alt coins, specifically and based in Masternodes Rewards, POS... however the take a huge commission of your aim, like to build a new Masternode for you profit... I could say that Cryptopia is an Exchange focused to promote coins for Masternodes, of course my opinion, based on my trade and my (miserable) miner life...

Anyway, they are not scammers. This is very important and positive thing in crypto life.

I too used cryptophia for few times but didn't face any issues but in some cases there were lot of problems while withdrawing our coins so if you are going for big trades then just skip this exchange.ANd also they don't have much trading volumes but they have some cryptos which were only tradeable here so people come here for trade those coins most of the time.

What are your opinions so far in 2018?
I am using this cryptopia for some time its working without any issue but I never have big withdrawal most of time I am withdrawing less then 500$ without any problem they are not good in support like many other bitcoin and crypto related exchanges but still I can say its good exchange

Cryptopia is not doing business anywhere near trading volumes to Binance, Bittrex and many others but it does seem to have good reviews.

It's just exchange fees to trade DOGE to BTC to XBY. It is a lot cheaper than sending BTC, and because the DOGE market is higher I get more XBY even with the exchange fee.

Better remove this thread to Service Discussion Exchanges section and for Cryptopia I am using this for small trades without KYC and have no issue until now you can also use this but I trades less then 0.1 bitcoins just because of this they never ask for any type verification good luck for you

Ah so are you saying for larger trades they will ask for ID verification?
I just check if you want to withdraw more then 5000 $ then you must need verification without this you cannot withdraw from this site all exchanges have their own system for withdrawal limits you have to follow them

Does that mean if I transfer out more than $5000 or more worth of any coin even to my wallet I have to give them my ID to verify me?

Or is that policy just for cashing coins and having the money sent to my bank?
