Any electronic currency is not a scam. Only those who use it are scam. Bitcoin or ETH value depends on the player. Living in today's integration, development need to have quick payment methods, advantageous bitcoin born has met that demand.

are you sure about that? ive seen several coins that are now becoming obsolete because they dont have really a purpose and devs dont update them anymore , those coins were only built for a pump and scheme . I guess Those types of coins are scam and this ebtc coin is verry simillar to them because ebtc had also pumped once when it was still new to the public but eventually this ebtc coin dont increase anymore and it is slowly forgotten by the people. Overall i believe ebtc is a scam and inventors of this coins , only wants to get profit to whom who may invested on it.

lol at all the people that said this wasn't a scam.....

Devs gone
Website gone
76% down on the day.
Soon to be valued at $0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000001

Goes to show half of the people on here are chatting utter shit.

It's quite sad really

Are you guys living under a rock or in a cave with no decent access to the internet?

Who said the devs are gone?  There is an active dev team at work
Website gone?  Really?  Oh, whats this - https://www.ebitcoin.org/ ?
60% up today? oh wow, this must be the next bitcoin with your logic.
Soon to be valued at whatever a speculative idiot is ready to pay for it.

I received ebtc as an Airdrop in October and have been holding on to my coins. Today they are work around $3,000, tomorrow they maybe worth $3 or $30,000 I dont know, the market is highly speculative and almost 99% of coins have no real use cases.  But the ebtc team is trying very hard to change that and it is actively trying to get merchants added and additional visibility through partnerships and marketing.

Scam it is not.
Should it exist, thats another point entirely.

Yes, all tokens start with e in Ethereum blockchain are pure scams. Don't buy them if you don't want to lose your money.
They try to fool new users in this forum but this scam fashion will die soon.

You can notice that those scams are showing a pattern. First they take the name of any popular coin and then add another word. There are the e-versions, the color versions(red, blue and gold) and the others that are fused with the word "cash". I still can't believe that I still see eBTC until now and it such a sad thing that those who got fooled are buying it and thinking that it has a future.

Not a scam. telegram is active with devs and strong community. I bought it as soon as I learned about it. I really like the concept and think it will be successful. i've been doing really well with my coin picks. I think this is another winner.

I must say I'm a little surprised that this still has value and people are still buying this coin on ED. I did not expect it to have a long life.

Still my original post was from the perspective of the creator of the coin - he definitely found a novel way of making money for himself and maybe a few others.

It's most def a scam. The biggest proof is the merchant's websites they claimed have accepted eBTC are fake websites. Go to eBTC's website and click on the link of the merchant's. Do some investigation and you'll quickly realize that they are fake sites. Also haven't you wondered how the claimed adoption came in their first week when literally few even knew the coin exists. There's some coins in the top 100 market cap that haven't had as much adoption as these guys claimed in the first week.
When you do look on the hype being built on its first week we can really say that this is not like on those old altcoins in the market as of now when they are just starting up.The thing you do mention about the on those fake merchants this is actually true since i did able to search up things on the site when it was still up but now they are all done site+dev then its understandable that they are already packing up their wealth that they do made on this project. It would be still considered as scam by those people who did invest on buying it specially on peak prices.

What lends value to the coin?

How is it different from any other coin on Ethereum - at least those provide some sort of business plan which may lead to real value? Does it do anything apart from taking the name Bitcoin, adding e before it for ethereum and use a smart contract for management? Any other features it adds which are not in the underlying platform?

Only plus point for eBTC is that it was freely distributed(?) to 8000 participants. I mean, I can create a coin, distribute 90% or 99.99% of it to others for free and essentially make money for myself for free.

Thoughts?

Is eBTC is a Scam?  Maybe yes, Maybe no. There are many of the users of Bitcoin Forum says it is a scam because they have their reason to believe that it is a total scam while others says it's nkt because they have been earned money in this program from airdrop. It is up to you to believe it or not, just be careful because it can be, or it can't be.

Yes eBTC not scam, why some ppl tell this scam  while they got eBTC free (ppl didn't pay). no ICO no crowdsale.
this is a brilliant idea, simple but has deep meaning. this idea confirms the position of eth and btc.
one of the advantages of eBTC, fast enter the market and easily liked by many people.

With the devs gone, I would actually buy some now.  I think no one should own or run eBTC.  Just let it run its course as a value place holder.  Maybe one day, people will start to use it, just because it is running wild.  As a disclaimer I will be putting a cheap buy order, just for the fun it.

It's not a scam, most eBTC token supply is distributed already to member. It's actually a great idea, people create a erc20 token, send that to all member that registered to get the airdrop, hold 5% or 10% and let pump it up.

You earn with this coin since you are there airdrop participant and that is just a bait for the devs to gather an community so that his coin will pump up and do the dump scheme and trapped those people who bought the ebtc and try to look and what's happening of this token, It is been dump badly and maybe later on these days ebtc will be left dead.

Not that because you are able to make money from that coin means it is not a scam. It's project can be a scam though it was able to give you some project after exchanging it for bitcoin. May I know on what exchange you are able to sell your eBTC. This is just like a token that was created out of thin air and nothing will be generated on this or it's use will be nothing but only for trading.

A big YES! and that coin has been hype by the dev and look what happen for the price now it has been dump and I'm sure the devs are so happy to get an easy money for there what so called scam coin and they are making another one right now and this is so annoying since Etherdelta added those coins easily without taking a serious scanning. And we should avoid to get hook on those airdrop coins who doesn't have a clear roadmap and use since that coins are 100% scam.

don't know ,lose my money on this ERC20 coin~~~

How much did you invested and entrusted with this coin? There's a lot of "btc" alt coin that keeps on popping out in the scene and the next one will be bitcoin gold.

I just also noticed this "btcZ" https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annbtcz-bitcoinz-low-fees-100-community-pow-equihash-no-premine-no-tax-2166510 people are smart to keep on relating the name of their developed coins into bitcoin. How long on these people will be keep on investing with such projects.

I'm saying that this coin doesn't have the edge. I saw some picture on social that the coinmarketcap is crowded with different type of bitcoin name, btc pizza, btc money, btc cash etc.  Grin

It has an exchange and all that has received the token already earned in this coin. I dont think its scam because it can be trade in etherdelta. I can say its a scam if it has no value at all. But look at ebtc it has an exchange and the value may increase.
You do have a point but not all coins which already in the exchanger doesnt mean that they wont become scam.Thinking off if the dev would decide to dump all of his coins for sure those who did invest on the coin will surely lost their money specially to those who buy on peak prices because they do join up with the hype but been dumped by its developer.
Exactly you are right even the coin is already listed in the exchange we can say it is legit or scam. The point is dev should go through and develop his project. And beleive on ebtc that it will surely pump like other top coin in the market.

Stop ... You can not call a scam a tokens that makes money. It is not a big moniey, but as 70% of the money created today as the ICO are the scam, which are far worse, but for me with EBTC I won 2000€ in 2 days ..for zero investment.

A scam, do not take the money! EBTC makes money, Play or stay on the side.

I don't think its a scam though I haven't had an eBTC, I already heard a lot of talks regarding this tokenized version of Bitcoin. As far as I know the eBTC is limited to only 21,000,000 eBTC, no more, no less. So how could we think or questioned this as a scam, when all of its information are clearly shown to the public. Thus, I think it is not a scam, it can only be a scam when its operation are not transparent to the public.

Well, I can tell you for a fact the dev team failed miserably in the distribution, letting people who signed up out and giving no support afterwards (yeah, after 24 hours no support to THEIR problems in the distribution). So it´s technical incompetence + bad faith.

I dont think eBTC is scam.
Satoshi21 selected a small core team from their new community to work alongside to prepare eBTC.
The project will make steady progress.

What project? What are they planning to do?
I'm sure token symbol and name create misunderstandings as if eBTC is relative to Bitcoin, but
they planning to hybridize the best of Bitcoin into ERC-20 Token.
Its a newly introduced token not being a hard fork.

Theres not way it would be hybridize since they do have different chains which means colliding both things is impossible.Actually the value is just been gained since the name of bitcoin was involved and checking on their devs roadmap which they do compare it to bitcoin which this coin called etherium-bitcoin.Seriously? This is just a simple another coin just been putting up some brands claiming that it would much better experience compared on bitcoin itself which is really a bullshit thing which it is really just an obvious thing that this is just really been hyped up.

I say we will see soon enough, but being listed on Coinmarketcap gives it some credit.
The price stabilised after the pump so it is safe, for now.
The rest will depend on the development. There are for sure many people that will hold, but some of them might give up after a month or two if nothing new will happen.

Well... It depends on what you call a scam...

To me, a scam is something which is created to earn something while you disadvantage someone else in doing so.
A cryptocurrency, like any currency (including FIAT), has no worth on its own. It's the users who make it valuable. If users "believe" something has value, they can trade it for something else. Currencies are just fabricated and can be used to trade more easily.

So about your question... Is eBTC made to only earn the creators something? Are there enough supporters who believe it already has or will have value?
Every cryptocurrency is a gamble. You can't predict which ones will succeed. It's up to you to decide in which ones you'll invest. :-)

Don't really think that this hype will increase and many will be fooled by whomever the people are started this noise, this will be dead soon.

In fact this is just a business strategy, a marketing strategy, a politics to get rich through bitcoin
The crypto world like a pearl until the birth of new coins, such as this eBTC. Many questions why should use the word '' eBTC ''? just add the letter 'e' at the beginning of the word.
So many negative arguments arise, my judgment is '' will last forever every new coin ..?
Its not valuable after all because creating new erc20 tokens is really easy. The thing that eBTC do gain value is it is being hyped up just like what being mentioned above but this coin actually don't have any usage or something unique on it.This is crypto and anyone would able do anything as long they can able to make money and now for sure the dev of eBTC is sipping out his cold juice and seeing his wallet filling up by ETH or BTC.

Exactly my point!

Thoughts?

not scam lol , this real look at exchanger now . you dont get eBTC ?

It is gaining value just because of FOMO - does it provide any value? Why should it cost anything at all?
Arguing on this thing would be somehow pointless and eBTC is really gaining popularity as of now and making money and as being said I don't see anything special on this normal or casual erc20 token. It just being hyped up and now it does increase its value which we really didn't expect for it to happen.

You're only making money when someone else buys your bag... Who is going to be rushing to buy tokens that were given out for free? I guess if there is some initial pump and fomo it could happen.
