Not worth it, ether is premine 100% if im not wrong..

No, I think it's going to partially premined and partially minable. They have been discussing it on their forum.

Well it seems Ethereum will benefit from both right now. From those miners and from those holders at the same time.
Nice and new idea. Why not.

no its not

you will be able to buy ETHER much cheaper after launch than you can get it for now...there will be big sell pressure

I hope for all of us you're right.
What do you think about its idea to be a revolutionary "coin". Still now I can't imagine why exactly Ethereum should be so revolutionary.

Kind of agree with this. When Ether fails to deliver as soon as people like, the price is going to come down.

there will be BIGGER and better things announced before it is even released you can count on that. Worth a 100 bucks punt but so are a lot of seemingly dead alts if you are taking about ROI i think there are much better opportunities the IPO seems a little weighted in the devs favour.

Yes, that's right.
Someone has to offer a product first in a normal way, before he get paid for it. In this case it is turned into absurdity. They collected several million dollars in btc. But up to now they gave us nothing.

I have not been following ether,  what's its status?  Had it failed?

It's not really started yet. They say they will probably release the fully working product in a few months. People paid for coins before it's ready.

If you're looking to invest in Ethereum, I'd wait to buy when it's released. There won't be a shortage of sellers then and it'll be cheaper to buy than now.

Ethereum is better compared with Maidsafe and Mastercoin.  Both those coins suckered in a lot of rich investors (many who came in pre-IPO) who would had made way more money had they instead invested into Doge, NxT and Darkcoin.    In other words - Ethereum from the get go is designed as a get quick rich scheme by a few wealthy investors who think throwing their own money at a coin will stimulate demand for it.  Has that ever worked for anyone?

The thing about this Ethereum stuff is that you have to invest serious capital to get any money out of it.  If I invest $1000 and there's $30 million Ethereum IPO funds, I'll only get like 0.000033% of all Ethereum.  I'ld have to wait until Ethereum is worth $billions to see any substantial ROI (compared with other alternates) but that's easier said than done.   There's no guarantee that Ethereum can ever go above $30 million let alone hit billions.   Maidsafe has barely gone anywhere while other coins shot way past it.

Is it just another altcoin that's going to fail or is it going to become another success like LTC and DRK?

Posted From bitcointalk.org Android App

I've already brought that up
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/well-ether-sale-has-started-705798

It's not just another "alt-coin". If thats what you think it is, you most likely need to do some more research.

Im not selling the house to buy ether, but i did throw a couple of hundred bucks at it. We'll see how it works out.

Throwing a couple hundred bucks at it seems like a good idea, if even just to say you were a part of Ether one day.

Sit down at Christmas dinner and go, hey you guys, remember seeing that Enron stuff on TV???  That was all me!

Seems to be gaining quite a bit of traction honestly kind of wished I would've invested in them.  Thing about this stuff is by the time you discover it would've been a great investment it's definitely too late!
