The developers of the leading cryptocurrencies are also monitoring the situation and in case of danger there will be new hardforks with a change in the algorithm.

Here's what will happen to Ethereum in 6 months

What attacks are you talking about? 51% attack or private key guessing with a quantum computer?

It is unlikely that quantum computers will be able to make a 51% attack on Ethereum in 6 months

I was referring to quantum computers successfully performing a 51% attack on the ETH blockchain. Private key guessing might not be much of an issue since a quick fix (like Lamport Signatures) could get ETH back on track. It's believed that PoS could put fears of a "quantum attack" to rest in the not-so-distant future. With well-talented developers on the project, you can rest assured that Ethereum will stand the test of time. If all else fails, people would simply migrate to another blockchain that's "Quantum-Resistant". The "Quantum Resistant Ledger" (QRL) is a nice alternative to those who'd want to secure their crypto as much as possible from the rising threat of quantum computers. Time will tell us whenever the field of "Quantum Computing" will pose a direct threat to crypto/Blockchain tech or all the other way around. Just my opinion Smiley

Day by day, Quantum Computing is becoming a threat to the very existence of crypto/Blockchain tech. It's said that quantum computers are able to break existing cryptographic hash algorithms. Imagine how quantum computers would destroy already-established cryptocurrencies if there is no protection against them. It will mark the end of an era for decentralized finance as we know it. Bitcoin may be able to resist quantum computing attacks, but I'm not sure about Ethereum. After all, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap is less secure than Bitcoin. The ETH network is much smaller than Bitcoin's, making it more vulnerable against external attacks.

I'm curious to know whenever Ethereum at its current state is quantum-resistant. Are developers taking in mind the threat of Quantum Computing? What would be of Ethereum if it faces a quantum attack? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Smiley
