How many times do you ask yourself if you are truly free? Do you feel free?

It's curious the way how Bitcoin reminded me how far we are from freedom, at very least in economy, if we focus not only on the origin of our currency (USD, GBP, EUR, etc.) but in the control that goverments and financial institutions have over us for using it. I say curious because to learn in deep about Bitcoin, its ideal, technology and implications, it is mandatory to deep dive in so many subjects that we usually just don't care enough to learn, like how money works, what fiat is and how banks work; it created a snowball of realization that it cannot be stopped.

It is sad how we get so used to it that we do nothing to overcome the situation, we just wake up every day to go to work, get paid and try to enjoy your free moments; it is so bad that we don't even stop to realize that we are not getting paid to do a certain thing or be at some place, we are giving away time of our lives, and that you can't never get back. And all come hand to hand, conventional media indoctrinate us in what we should do or like (expend money, buy stuff), banks keeps us in line with mortgages and credit cards, the goverment gives us a sense of security, sports entertain us (and divide us into factions), celebrities and their lifestyle makes us want to be them; it's called a system for a reason. So at the end, we forget about our lives until is too late.

But the alternative doesn't come cheap and without struggle; will you be willing to work on fixing stuff in your house intead of watching the football game, to use the Internet to learn new stuff and skills instead of keeping up with the Kardashians, trade with bitcoin instead of credit cards with money that you do not actually have, or accepting yourself before whising to be like a fake celebrity? As I said, it does not come easy, it does not come by itself; like everything else that matters it takes time and consistency.

So, are you comfortable or you rather to be free?
