Stay far away from Gate.io

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28258802

Not a legit exchange.

I do not agree that gate.io is a scam exchange
It has strict rules such as minimum deposits and withdrawal after kyc

But have used it countless of times to trade my xlm, my bnty tokens and lots more than I can remember

The withdrawal is almost instantly too

This exchange has been around for some time and should be legit. I opened an account on it two years to buy Ripple since it was one of the very few that had it. Have not used it for much else.

Yeah Gate.io is a good exchange it is not a scam, it is a legit exchange, I have been using since last year and I have not had any single issue with them, So I will say it is a good exchange though no much volume compare to bianance and the rest.

Those newly launched exchanges at first wanted to get the trust from their value esteem customers, after which will change their policy and get stricter towards their customers. Lets beware of these exchanges to avoid what happened some few years back. Advise, deposit what you can afford to loose because depositing  huge sum of money might result in haven your KYC before yo can be able to withdraw your funds from the exchange.
If you are unsure and you just don't have any choice depositing small amount first and test the withdrawal options can make it possible not being stuck, most of the time those who are asking things like have no choice since the tokens or coins they have are only listed from this exchange or they are seeing possible arbitrage trading.

Better to review deeper if you are still in doubt with this exchange though its already been working for some years now.

Gate.io is a great exchange and if you look at coinmarketcap it is one of the most chosen exchanges among traders with a big trading volume. It may take ages with their verification process, but besides this one, there were no problems at all.

This is a very old topic. But the discussion has started anew here. I have been using Gate.io exchange for a few years. To me it seemed like a legit exchange. Because its security is very high and there is no fake trading volume. It's also easy to use and I haven't had any problems using it yet.

A few days ago I created a support ticket for my problem trading in futures which resulted in my assets being liquidated, but they were very bad at responding to the problem I was having.
just imagine I choose a short position x 20 luna at a price of $ 6 but when the luna price is $ 6.1 my assets are all liquidated which should have a liquidation price above $ 6.7.
and their support is shady.

Do you check the market price by the time your order was liquidated because your position might be liquidated if the price spread on spot market is higher than the perpetual market price. Can you share the actual reply of gate.io representative so that we can assess whether the mistake is on there side and not from yours.

Make sure to check market price always when you are opening a position.

i dont think its legit i deposited luna 2 days ago then they stopped luna deposit today price of luna was 0.0005 in there exchange now down to 0.00027 i think they play with market or they do arbitrage and btw you can cashout luna if you buy from there market but you cant deposit
Why of so many currency , you are dealing with LUNA? and not you are blaming  Gate.io for this matter? I am a user of Gate.io and but never that i experience any single problem so maybe it is only you that has this issue.
and considering that you are bumping a 4 year old thread?   Grin and  of course you should show your proofs here about this problem here .

Although I also never encounter an issue with this exchange even before but still I make sure not to trade any more larger amount since I don't know if we can trust them for long term and I'm much more careful about storing balance on that area. And for blaming Luna on incident he encounters is not totally fair because there are so many announcement made by the dev towards the unfortunate incident happen to them and they put some solution on it so maybe by the time he deposit his money on that exchange there are running maintenance happen and that totally affect his transaction at that time.

Hmmm i never hard a bad experience using gate io, as far as i know this exchange site has a minimum withdrawal. If you have been depositing some amounts of luna and then you must also remember have you checked the minimum amounts to withdraw your luna. As far as i know with the decrease of the price of luna and you need to put more luna to be able to withdraw your money.

I am using Gate exchange for one years and not found single issue yet. I like it because the withdraw of  usdt Tron fee is zero. Trading volume is also good . I saw some users have problem with exchange but I didn't find any.
Note: gate exchange withdraw is only available to those users who have passed Kyc. Before deposit first do your Kyc or you can lose fund plust it is a centralized exchange. means users doesn't have control on their funds. so invest at your own risk.
Never mind him. It looks like he messed with not only Gate.io but with Phemex too which mean the problem is entirely due to his negligence.

The most common complaints I have seen about Gate.io are KYC related, but I think they are not a scam, exchange if you register and pass KYC before using their platform.

I can tell you that I have used Gate.io in the past with no serious issues to report.  I have used them for on least 3 separate trades and they mostly had to do with either bitcoin gold or litecoin in order to rapidly move assets from one exchange to another in order to do arbitrage.  The only warning I have is that you should carefully consider the market and volume.  I actually got caught up in the excitement of arbitrage but ended up having to wait quite a long time as I missed a trade opportunity because of how slot BTG was to transfer... but this was several months ago and the transfers may be better today.  Just something to keep in mind depending on what kind of trading you plan to do.

Gate.io is now a legit exchange. Daily trading volume was very good, holding the top 11 in daily trading volume. Exchange transactions are quite easy to use, there are many altcoins are listed under usdt that is a good signal. At present, the number of users is quite large, there are many potential altcoins are listed and grow very well.

Categorically, i can not for once classified gate.io as a scam exchange, i have traded in that exchange times without number and i have not for once experienced any difficulty or smell any signs of scam when trading. I think the exchange is good to me and i am currently trading some tokens in there. Also I love the fact that this topic was raised as to caution crypto enthusiasts. Least i forget to say this, withdrawal is super-fast.

Of course, lawful, Gate.io is a very good platform. Although not the first. But it is very safe. And it does not send its own tokens. It is enough to know how strong its competitiveness is. I use it myself. Although there may not be other platforms that have strength. But I think it is very safe.

I used Gate.io for a while now, only for small transactions of tokens that were listed only there or smaller exchanges... I never had any problem with it, and could withdrawal 4 times, Eth or LTC, without any trouble.
I can't say this website is 100% legit, but from my experience it seems to be okay !

Gate.io is a small exchange, but is useful for some small alts like Lympo (LYM), listed there and at IDEX with some volume.

I don't have a single problem there for few months.

The operating process of gate.io is very questionable in nature and I think the community should stop using it with immediate effect. I have never used this exchange until today. I just sold off my LYM tokens for ETH today and now Gate.io is asking for my KYC. My concern is that why it was not asked while opening the account? They are asking for KYC while withdrawing the funds. This is not a proper way to do business. They should have asked for KYC while opening the account.

The amount is around $100 which is not significant. So I consider it gone. I have also sent a support email but I doubt they will help! Such exchanges with serious lack of integrity should not be used by the community members.

If it is a new one better not use it until there are good feedback that is coming from users that experience it already. Once you deposit a coin, it will hard to get it back once it enters their platform if it is a scam platform.

Gate.io is a newly-launched crypto-exchange, their website is available in English and Chinese, which means platform is registered in US, but run by Chinese from abroad. Their automated "support" replies are in Chinese and broken English. The company operating the Gate.io brand and website is based in Virginia, but is not overseen by the local financial watchdogs, nor holding a NY Bitlicense, which is quite controversial. You should keep in mind that when dealing with unregulated companies, you are exposed to a large risk, which is the case with Gate.io. They only offer one wallet for all their customers with tag distinguishing each client, highly risky practice that enables them to keep/steal coins that are not assigned to particular customer. Once your coins are "lost" in their communal wallet, it is practically impossible to get them back. This is unregulated platform, and their is no leverage trading with overwhelming negative reviews of scamming people on all websites. Their ratings are extremely low with only about 10 thousand downloads of their app on Google Playstore. If you try to contact them to recover your coins, their "support" will delay their replies, lie to you and eventually ignore your emails. Recently I have witnessed an issue friends of mine had trying to recover unassigned funds or get a refund and basically Gate.io has been giving them false information and promises week after week, hoping they will just go away. When making a complaint on their Twitter and Telegraph account messenger, first the "support" agent tried to request deposit of few ETH coins to "validate" account and once that was refused they were immediately blocked from chat room. Now they are in the process setting their own chat rooms for people who have already been defrauded by Gate.io as well as reporting it to US Commodities Futures Trading Commission and FBI.
This exchange is basically one of those geeks developing websites to scam people during a digital gold rush and I cant wait for the corporate world to step in holding hands of world governments to regulate and replace all these crooks. If these small time thugs operated with trust, it would be very difficult for the large corporations to come in and replace them. But they're thinking make a quick buck now and get out instead of stay for the long haul.  Gate.io is nothing else but a half baked scam operation, providing truly bad service for most customers and stealing from the rest if they can get away with it. Their extremely poor ratings on all major review sites speaks enough about all the bad experiences so many people have to go through and those positive reviews are mostly fake they post themselves or through one of those Chinese "click farms" that offer services of posting fake ratings.

I'm betting that 0.000321 ETH is Gate.io's favorite number.

Check that outgoing 0.000321 ETH in Gate.io's wallet, each few minutes, then a pause, and later a whole "session" again. Most of them lead to fresh Ethereum wallets. Others lead to, yet again, these kind of wallets:

0x6523a1744ab3901607db71c45c5fe624a2bcdf23
https://etherscan.io/address/0x6523a1744ab3901607db71c45c5fe624a2bcdf23#tokentxns
- Systematically moves Ethereum and QSP, SNT, KyberNetwork, BAT, EOS and Decentraland to Gate_io_0x05ee5461a...

- Systematically moves Ethereum and JNT to Gate_io_0x05ee5461a...

Just picked some at random.

And here's many more wallets receiving 0.000321 ETH that seem to operate automatically. Tx:

Here's a wallet address that is involved in QSP trading and systematically issues +/- 69.99 ETH withdrawals from several Binance and a KuCoin wallets.

The wallet transfers all ETH to the Gate.io exchange (0x05ee546c1a62f90d7acbffd6d846c9c54c7cf94c)

A 69.99 withdrawal has just been made, Tx:

Not long from now this will move to I guess to the following address: 0x05ee546c1a62f90d7acbffd6d846c9c54c7cf94c

edit: here it is --> https://etherscan.io/tx/0xc9fb0d7ca76d0a3721c7f44dfd0a768cdd21b8d317e74ad8aece491aa973cffd

And why do tokens flow back to Binance by the same pattern?

https://etherscan.io/token/Quantstamp?a=0x6fe1d5ae5ea6ba334bd4c1cc2dd8b6695314d82d

No way this is a genuine withdrawal

This just moved out of Gate.io again:

https://etherscan.io/tx/0xb50bb788d6bcf793182382d59e110c7ddb3cc9b666b11d85f2c5fc7de5b8aa5a

in a moment I will edit this post to add the Tx from that wallet to Binance, as soon as it appears in the blockchain.

Notice that the latest incoming QSP transaction at Gate.io just made it's time-frame of 11-12 hours.

Gate.io QSP transactions:
https://etherscan.io/token/Quantstamp?a=0x05ee546c1a62f90d7acbffd6d846c9c54c7cf94c

deposit on Gate.io made by:

Coincidence right...

I'll bet you see another in about 11-12 hours from now (if the bot doesn't read this).

24395 QSP moved into Gate.io

Originates from two previous transactions, one of 12726 merged with 11669, total 24395.

https://etherscan.io/token/Quantstamp?a=0x564286362092d8e7936f0549571a803b203aaced

That are Binance wallets. Why would someone on Binance be so stupid to migrate such an amount to Gate.io? And why each time from Binance -> Gate.io?

Here's a deposit of 42953 QSP that moved into Gate.io from KuCoin:

https://etherscan.io/token/Quantstamp?a=0x5472de2989f56c790b1052bb097a45e5bb0dfd3e

The only QSP tokens moving in over the last few days are large transactions, but just not large enough to be worth >10000 USD. There's not a single small deposit made.

Just look at the Gate.io incoming QSP transactions:

https://etherscan.io/token/Quantstamp?a=0x05ee546c1a62f90d7acbffd6d846c9c54c7cf94c

and retrace the steps of some.

Why does it flow like that? After seeing the order book at Gate.io people who hold QSP should be getting out of there.

Hi guys. Do you have any experience with this exchange? Is it legit? Thank you.

I used it one time without knowing that the price for the exchange was too high, I can confirm It was Legit but lots of negative feedback was commented on some thread one of them said that it doesn't have proper customer support some people who put their coins is having a hard time to communicate with the customer service representative, another one said that the transaction was taken a long period of time, maybe because it was new on the market.

But if I were you, I will stick to the known and trusted trading platform.

Located over 2 million QSP tokens stored in "offshore" accounts (in between exchanges) that retrace to the trading bot of Gate.io. The deposits are made by intermediate wallets that can be retraced to both Binance and KuCoin (and eventually Gate.io if one looks further).

Tried to notify Binance by all possible channels that Binance user accounts are being misused this way. Even send out an email to Binance Angels, calling for an angel. No response of anyone whatsoever. If no response is received within 12 hours I will open a separate topic and post all the involved Ethereum wallet addresses there, which exposes the direct relation of the Binance wallet to the trading bot that is at the center of the price manipulation scheme at Gate.io

Fine with me

Got sh*t reply from Binance.

Traced several amounts and they end up at something called Gemini in the comments, and there I'm not sure what is happening. Funds seems to circulate between wallets, but each time the amount is different. It doesn't leave that circle however. I have the addresses and the hashes. Anyone familiar with Gemini?

one trace was on [removed amount] ETH that left Binance scattered in smaller portions, that were later merged and then moved into that Gemini thing..

Located many more wallet addresses involved. Addressed this to Binance in an ongoing support ticket filed previously about withdrawal issues. Ticket got closed after the withdrawal issue was solved.

Quote
Hello,

Thank you for contacting customer support.

We are closing this ticket because we believe you no longer need attention for this issue.

Please let us know if you do have any further questions or issues related to this or anything else with our service.

Thank you for your continued patronage.

A misunderstanding probably(?). Filing a separate one for this QSP thing. Will update later.

Hope the tokens will not have been moved by then. The tokens are currently accumulating in several ether wallets. It becomes more difficult to track in time however. Just one account holds almost half a million tokens, to give an impression of the volume. The rate by which the tokens are accumulating implies that this is going on longer than the timespawn previously posted. The scale and 24/7 presence implies more than one individual being involved, and/or an automatic mechanism / bot providing support.

edit: filed a ticket @ QSP website as well (<1 day)

Here is one of the wallet addresses used to transfer the QSP from/to Gate.io. It's used for QSP only, and coincides with the activity and quantity of Gate.io QSP trading.

never use this exchange,
but, better you use a large volume exchange like bittrex and binance
because low trading volume in exchange is too risky,

Rofl I have always been using Gate.io exchange without complaints, but lately there's concerning things happening. I'm not sure what to make of this, but it almost seems like some of the largest users / whales run the place, the trading and the exchange I mean.

QSP is being farmed for some days now. Here:

cap made 1-2 days ago

That small amount next to the green arrow is the only sell order not made by the same user. And in the trade history is one.

cap made 10-20 minutes ago

Everyone's lucky number is 0.011 this week. And someone doesn't need sleep? This happens more often at this exchange, and it's way passed the rate of coincidence. All buy and sell orders you see in the above cap are the same user. It's so obvious, everyone is avoiding QSP now there, except for buyers who then withdraw QSP to wallet. Because if you go buy and hold QSP there, looking for a short-term profit, you will end up selling it >1ct lower, or you will have to buy through that entire order listing of him and become the next boss of QSP at Gate.io (wouldn't surprise me if at some point your account gets locked then)

Dozens of examples like this. Might be that someone on the inside turns a blind eye, because they couldn't have missed this for so long a time.

Stay far away from Gate.io

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28258802

Not a legit exchange.
Any proof that gate.io is not legit i was planning to make account in gateio but i found some article that gateio is old bter.com with scam history before..
I just wondering if ever i deposit there i'll experience of pending transaction or never sent transaction like the other trading site..
But according to other people here and some article gate.io is legit and they are still trading in that site..

The user who posted this withdrew his post.

There are strange things on Gate.io. Huge whales just go from coin to coin, fixing the price with huge amounts of coins in the orderbook, and then pick off the small amounts in between. It's a small exchange so it doesn't take much compared to Binance to do this. I'm following one now and put a small amount of coins 1 decimal below the price to which he is going to move the coin. He might just leave so I'm not sure if it works.

That method is probably best at a coin that currently holds a stable price.

Sounds a bit vague, I'll make some screenshots if it happens.

well maybe binance is much better than gate, i also suggest you to play trading there. because I myself have tried and the volume of the market in the bin includes quite large,

I use it yesterday anyway, before anybody respond here. I need it to buy Streamr Data coin ASAP and that's one of the few exchanges where they have it. Streamr have low liquidy and soon will be listed on hitBTC - need to have before that!

In order to avoid complexities with gate.io which is have a bad reputation like mentioned in an accusation thread above, you can gently ask traders in the trade sections of the forum and by whatever you want. It's may be risky and you will need an escrow for medium/big transactions but it's safer than sending your coins to a strange place.

I was looking for the same topic of discussion about this site Gate.io I found this thread and another thread accusing Gate.io as the previous bter.com and theres a scam accusation about this gate.io that can be found here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/scam-btercom-now-gateio-1605244

The site layout looks nice and I see posts from different traders claiming that they have an account in gate.io. I don't want to kane any deposits yet until I read a good feedback about this site, specially since tehres an open scam accusation about both bter.com and gate.io
