I think if coin value is low at the time of mining then it can be profitable for us as we may have the bigger stock and we can sell them at good price. so find a good related pool and stat mining with gpu this is great for us.

i don't think that coin is worth mining, sure perhaps there are hidden gem somewhere(i doubt), but that is not one of them

the only one more profitable than zcash and etheruem is still xcn with the pallas miner that do 35MH on a 1070

Yes I would say so, any coin with an algorithm that isn't mined by Sha-256, Scrypt, X series ASIC's + their Compatible Algorithms and is CPU/GPU mineable only "could" still be profitable depending on how long you will hold before you sell.

Hi! I quit altcoins about 2 years ago, back then I had a few 280x, 7950s and 7970s mining.
Is mining still profitable? Let's say at the release of a new coin, is it possible to get anything with a 280x or a 7970 GHz?

Are there new algorithms out that only works with GPUs?

Sincerely, SparkIt.

yes for now mining with GPU still profitable and you can mining with eth, zcash, monero, dash. for the high price, you can mining with zcash and its simple to do with your GPU.

6990 doesnt work properly with ZEC. Just mine ETH with that, you should get 28MH/s.

The others are better for ZEC currently.
I've only got the matrix right now, sold the others when I pulled out!
Thanks for all the help! I saw your topic about buying used cards instead of new ones, do you think I should go for 280x, 7970, 290 or 290x? There's like a $30 difference between 280x and 7970 in Sweden

Dont buy any Tahiti or Pitcairn. (7850 7870 270x 370 7950 7970 280x) because they are bad with ETH.

290/290/390 are OK. Same with the Tonga 380. Best would be the 470/480.
With a tight budget I can't afford 390 and 4xx right now.
Most of the upcoming coins seems to be based on DAG and not ETH, since I don't mine coins with hard difficulty and I'm on a tight budget, would Tahiti work okay?

The other coins are mostly pump and dump, with ETH you have at least some gauranteed earnings. You gotta buy a GPU that can mine ETH. You can buy the 280x but every month speed goes down by 1MH/s or so.

Yup

ZEC and ETH
Thanks!
Do you know what hashrate 7970 matrix platinum (1100/1650 without OC, 3gb)could perform at with Equihash?

Wow thats a nice GPU, collectors item pretty much.

At least 175 H/s or so.
Yeah my Nvidia card died a few days ago, bought that one at 65 dollars two days ago! Should perform as a 280x if I don't recall completely wrong.

That would give me like $2 profit per day, which means I could do at least $10 at a release of a new coin. Not that bad!
I think I'm going to get back into this, I've missed it!

Yeah except the profits are less and less each day since the ZEC price is dropping.

You can mine ETH with those GPUS also however they slow down every month, so speed is only 16MH/s.

Yeah I don't like mining safe bet-coins, last time I was doing this I only mined new coins that looked interesting and I went from a 7950 to several 280x, 6990s, 7950s and a few 7970 plus PSUs, mobos and pocket money in about 2 months. I hope I can do the same again!
