There were some news this year that 15 years old teenager have hacked into Ledger nano S. So if you will loose your hardware wallet maybe (but doubtfully) some genius teenager hacker can hack it... the most secure way of storing bitcoin is always going to be an actual offline wallet such as a paper wallet. hardware wallets are not exactly cold storages, they are more like secure storages.
