Once a man, twice a child!
There's a saying on the Internet: "Never argue with idiots. You'll stoop to their level, and they'll crush you with their experience." I don't know for sure whether Mark Twain says this or not...
Yes, that quote was attributed to Mark Twain. I believe it's Twain's thinking that silence is golden (not admittance) at a time of altercation. Of course, we know how difficult it's to be silent when someone is skewing our comments to suit their narratives. I've read a few of BADecker's lengthy posts in the recent past (that user often posts in Politics & Society and Off-Topic), and I couldn't help but noticed how antagonistic that user is. I guess OP should just let this slide and ignore his accuser.

But for some individuals, it is not ideal to use defamatory words on people even though it doesn't violate the rules of the forum.

As many reputable member already said in the past. You should grow a thick skin here since defamatory words is always expected on public forum especially that we are all anonymous. You shouldn’t take the harsh word personally or else you will encounter a lot of problem on dealing with aggressive user here.

In real life, there are words that should not be used against people else you will attract a law suit, just becuase this is a digital space doesn't mean one should not be cuatious of what words are used. Remember all that is said in here remains a digital footprint and might be used against you futuristically even within the forum.

The problem is we have different set of rules here in the forum and it’s very hard to file a lawsuit inter continental to an anonymous user. So having a thick skin is the best choice to deal with this kind of personal issue. Ignore button is our friend in time like this.

Hi, I recently got a shout (you know, oversized text in big-bold letter) by one of the usual thread polluting creatures that we have to live with in the forum calling me "criminal". Is this all right with the rules of the forum? do we need to live with this just because we want to have a discussion?

There are also a lot of worse words used by some members to address others, but I don't think we can expect everyone to behave in a civilized manner, especially if the forum allows such a form of communication (in most cases). Considering the topic and the person who calls you a "criminal", I'm surprised that this didn't happen before, and that some much worse words were not used.

In the end, it is your choice with whom you will communicate on the forum, and it is more than obvious that with some members any discussion always leads to ad hominem attacks, which speaks volumes about them as people.

everyone does whatever they want and goes away with it, so why won't it continue to embolden them?
They say "You can't put a price on Freedom", but I'm pretty sure this exact thing is the price we pay, heh.
Lol...There's also a wise saying that "The country without law, there's no crime."

This thing we call Freedom is relative and subjective, and if overgiven, it will be misused. That is why there are rules everywhere, even in this forum, except that the rules that will restrain people from vulgar and unguarded words are lacking.

I'm surprised with what I read at times in the forum and could only be on Bitcointalk.

Actually I read lots of badecker’s posts they are a fascinating study for me.

I go to his profile and pick a number like 316 or 666.

Just to see what he is writing about.

This made me LOL. I noticed that a lot of famous trolls turned to the darkside when they got majorly screwed in some way or another, and they never recovered. Notbatman, for instance - creator of the famous Flat Earth thread - lost thousands of dollars attempting to buy Black Arrow miners, which turned out to be a giant scam. Losing the money and not being able to mine cheap BTC affected his sanity and he withdrew into a dark place.

Looking back at BADecker's posts, however, reveals that he's always been a religious nutjob. Over the years he withdrew from any type of normal discussion to pursue trolling full-time, but it was a gradual transition.

This! OP won't win this. Just click Ignore, and move on (that's what I did after seeing many of his posts).

Yes, it doesn't seem that calling someone a 'criminal' should have any consequences on the forum
It's like calling someone a scammer: for the forum would interfere, Mods would have to decide who's right and wrong. That won't happen.

I cannot recall having interactions with him therefore cannot comment on him personally but I have read what other members have been posting about him in this thread. I use the ignore button regularly, it works for me.

In general, my advice would be that if it is someone you do not want to read any longer (regardless of what they post), you should add them to your ignore list and forget them. Try to enjoy your time around members who you have a good relationship with.

If the focus is about taking control of the government, isn't that what the Presidency is all about?
<-snip->
...es Trump's property, that is something that they can do for themselves. But they can't force their valuation on the owner of it. The owner values it as he sees fit.

Now, I know that you might be upset with Trump, because he wouldn't give money and armament to your beloved Ukraine. So, you like it when you can steal money from the American people without looking like the criminal that you are!

Cool

Incredible...

There is something you continuously fail to understand: Being elected President does not grant you unlimited powers, is exactly the contrary, you power is strongly restricted.

- No, as president you should not "take control of the government" beyond your constitutional functions. e.g. replacing general attorneys and the like. And you certainly do not get to self-extend your mandate just because you think you won.

- The democrats won the election. There is no proof of illegal wrongdoing. If there is, you present it to the press, the judges, etc ... but that did not happen, because there isn't.

- Sending money to other countries removes it from your economy, thus may reduce inflation, but I do not think that matters much.

- You can brag about the price of your properties in the golf club, but real state has an objective evaluation when you go to the bank to ask for a credit. If you say it is double it is fraud. This is not about "the price you'd sell it for, it is the market valuation (dude, capitalism 101).

- We do know because he is stupid enough to lie in written, in official accounting documents, right below where it says "All the information provided is true, I understand that if not I may be committing fraud".

If you have any sensible argument this is a good moment to express it. Otherwise, do a favour to this forum and stop blurting shit.

I am not upset at Trump, I fear that if what he does is Ok, the US is no longer the government of the people, but of the mobs.

Re your accusation of me being a criminal, I request you to present any evidence or remove the insults. You will get a reputation thread on that one.

Blah, blah, blah... You totally miss the point. Creating new money to give to other countries (Ukraine) doesn't do anything at all if the money is never spent by Ukraine. But when it is spent, it causes inflation in the country that is the main user of that money.

If you are a recipient of the benefit of the US money that is sent to Ukraine, you have stolen value from the American people... and should be ashamed of yourself. Of course, you may not have any choice in the matter. But if this is the case, perhaps you should consider immigrating to Russia so that you don't partake of stealing from Americans.

Cool

I am not seeing here a withdrawal of your accusation. I understand that you believe that is ok to call someone a criminal without a proof - that is why you support Trump - but it is not. Prove or withdraw now.

What you call "bla bla" is called arguments in the rest of the world.

You have tried several times to provoke me into providing personal information on where I leave and who I am or who I deal with. Again, you will need to do much better and in any case is irrelevant to an argument based conversation - again, I understand why are you a Trump supporter (from China perhaps).

<-snip->

BTW if you were a true bitcoin supporter, inflation would be irrelevant to you, even a good thing in fact.

He is convinced that I am somehow stealing his money through some deep-state mechanics related to Ukraine. Oh, well... you are right, a badge it is then.

That guy is known to take a conversation from nowhere to somewhere that others find crazy and insanity. I would recommend you to avoid arguing with that genius person who's living in his own world with his own ideas and everything that's his own creation with his thoughts. A simple word of advice to you is that listen to such words from one ear and let it flow away from another ear because getting disturbed with such things won't be a good thing for your health. Most people on this forum don't argue with BADecker due to various reasons and I recommended you to also do that.

Sure, sometimes it sucks when there's lunatic asshats we can't seem to get rid of.  But, as others have alluded to, that's what the 'ignore' button is for.  They're free to spout psychotic drivel and you're free to blank them from your browser window.

I honestly wouldn't worry about the type of people who would listen to BADecker.  I mean, if someone did read a baseless accusation levied by BADecker and then decided to accept it at face value, they'd have to be as insane as he is.  No one in their right mind would take that loon seriously.  They're either a troll, or simply delusional.  How they aren't currently undergoing treatment on a psych ward right now is beyond me.
You are on point, but the forum is also faulty in some things as well, there's too much freedom, unlike elsewhere. No matter who you are or the extent to which you believe you are a psycho, you must know the limit depending on where you are, you respect the rules, or else you will be kicked out irrespective of who you think you are.

Unfortunately, it's not applicable here, everyone does whatever they want and goes away with it, so why won't it continue to embolden them?

I don't know for sure whether Mark Twain says this or not, but in your case, it would be better to ignore him, or even ignore it completely. I think that half the forum does this.

I've seen worse things on forums, and it falls under insults that can be given in a discussion when things get heated. If we take into account that the user in question seems to be not very well in the head I would not give more importance and would consider putting him on ignore.

It's only wrong when:

His post contain of death threat message, his post will be deleted and might get temporary banned.
He leave a negative feedback and distrust you just because of this ridiculous matter.

Since I don't find one of two things I mentioned above, it means there's no problem. You can call anyone stupid, cunt, culprit, pedophile, gay etc.

Yes, it doesn't seem that calling someone a 'criminal' should have any consequences on the forum, other than the possible personal consequence of putting the insulter on ignore as I have suggested.

Actually I don't understand why people bother posting in P&S at all. I'm just glad that most (not all) of the nuttiest people on the forum have coalesced there and rarely post elsewhere. To the non-nuts who argue with the likes of him, I don't understand what you get out of it.

Hey now, the freedom of being insane on the intertubes is enshrined in the constitution of this great country that BADecker allegedly is a resident of, along with the freedom of being a religious nutjob, and the freedom of shooting anyone who looks at you incorrectly.

Well, if that's all it is, it's obviously craziness.  Whether it's against the rules or not, I have to wonder why you'd create a thread about it.  You've been here long enough to know you ought to let that crap roll right off you like rain from a duck's feathers.  If he was accusing you of something very specific in the way of criminality, then I might contest it in a thread--but BADecker is just throwing a nonsense word tantrum

Definitely not against the rules. Coming from BADecker it's like a badge of honor, it means you were able to say something sufficiently effective that knocked him out of his usual bible babble.
