It'll be loud, it'll be warm, it'll be a fire hazard and it'll consume a hell of a lot of electricity...
It depends on the type of ASIC you're going to place and how much your electricity costs.

But, for example, in my country, if i'd place 4 S9's, they would draw ~5.2 Kw, that's about 45500 Kwh/year. Since i pay about 27 eurocents/Kw, the cost would be ~€12300 a year as electricity consumption.

So, make sure you're not letting your brother pay more for his electricity as the flat would cost in the first place... I know i can rent a decent flat for €1000/month, so if anybody would buy me a flat but request that i'd run 4 S9's in return, i would tell him not to bother... I'd rather rent a place instead.

My brother has kids and his wife. I am considering to buy him an apartment (dont be appalled by me generosity, it is in a different country where real estate is several order less than US), anyways I still believe act of generosity to some degree.

In return, I am thinking about asking about placing somewhere between 2-4 miners in their place, I am considering in a balcony. But I am worried, do you think he will appreciate? I am childless for now however I can not feel for him.

Obviously there is a potential for fire danger (although less) is most concern.
I do not put him into a difficulty position just because I am purchasing him apartment.

With all thoughts, I am thinking just no. Thanks.,
