I know that ico scams frequently appeared (90%) in the past few years , but there are still many good items.
If about 90% of ICOs turned out to be scams, making up the vast majority, it's safe to say that market is dead as it's to risky for an investor.

In terms of content, I think these two categories should be side by side instead of.

As the main board, ANN should discuss ANN itself, and several sub-blocks 1token2network3nft should be set up below. . .
Such an addition would only encourage the spam which goes on in that section and the admins would not be inclined to do that.

There is a clear difference between the two.
Altcoin announcements is a place where you would go to announce a new coin with its own blockchain. The original Monero and Litecoin announcements were posted there and that's where they belong. Tokens don't have their own blockchains and use the infrastructure by one of the coins. Like ERC-20 tokens use the Ethereum blockchain.

Those two shouldn't be in the same category because If I want to check what's new in the established altcoins world, I shouldn't have to go through threads about ICOs and unlisted ERC20 tokens. It works the other way around as well. Since you are an ICOer like you said, you shouldn't have to see the Monero and Dash announcements while you are searching for ICO projects.
Yes, I fully understand what you mean. I know that most of the mother board ANN is to issue a new coin with its own blockchain, and the tokens are all tokens on various chains.

I totally accept that we can appreciate the ANN of those magnificent projects in the past
I don't accept that at all--most of those projects that came out in the 2018 era were complete and utter garbage, and if they weren't useless they were straight-up scams.

Theymos threw altcoiners a bone when he created the whole altcoin section.  Consider yourself lucky that there's even a section for announcements from these shitty projects and that he hasn't scrapped it altogether.  The ANN section in particular is a cesspool of shitposts and thread-bumpers, and if you're asking whether we need to have some kind of separation of ICOs into their own sections, I'd say absolutely not.  If it were up to me, I'd do away with the ANN section and not give all of these lousy projects a chance to attract shitposting bounty hunters and promote their ponzi projects.

Personally, there are two points.

  • The first is that if I are lucky enough to invest in a good project in the ico or even private sale, my assets will increase very quickly.
  • The second reason is that I like this kind of treasure hunting experience in the “trash”. I know that many projects are worthless, but I still go around every day to see if there are any new ANN releases.

You might not find it useful yourself to separate the two, but from a organization point of view, it definitely makes sense. I also believe that the majority of users will find it useful, when they are looking into Altcoins with or without their own blockchain so that they don't waste their time panning through each thread in one section.

It also helps with searching the forum. If a user was involved with a project, but can't remember the exact details of it, then it at least narrows down the search. They could input keywords in the search, and better differentiate between the announcement threads.

I don't know, categorization just makes sense to me when there's a topic/section is very popular like the altcoin sections.

@OP

There is a huge difference between Token and Altcoins as Pmalek already has written.

I reported the last 2 weeks a lot of threads in the Altcoin board to move them where they should be , in the Token board.
Mostly the Anns for Token gets posted there as the Users new to the Forum or they have no Clue where to post and also to catch some other Users with there project.
But all this NFT , Token and ERC-20 Coins should be normaly in the Token Board.

The two sections are already separated.

Ow. Being such a big mess there, I didn't visit it lately.
In that case you are 100% right and I'll remove my previous post. Thanks for the correction.

The two sections are already separated. We have Altcoin Announcements and Tokens. All coin ANNs go into Altcoin Announcements while ANNs of token projects go into the Tokens child board. So if you think about it, the "others" (altcoins) is also dividable on two.

If I understood the point kxwhalexk was trying to make in his OP, he is asking why we have a child board for tokens when they could all be together in the same Altcoin board. He wasn't proposing to create a new category, he was just asking why there are two separate categories. In my first post I tried to explain why it's necessary.

People would be interested to have two different sections if they didn't exist because tokens and coins serve different purposes and come with different natures. It's certainly better to keep both in different sections as it's convenient to distinguish between an ANN of a coin and a token. Nevertheless, if you don't want to see token section or any other section, you can put the section on ignore list so that you don't have to see them anymore.

I admit that I am an ICOer, I have never made any comments in the ANN section, but I spend part of my time every day to look for good projects in the ANN section of bitcointalk, and participate in some presales and private sale. Grin

The question I want to raise now is, is it really necessary to set up a TOKEN option separately?

In my opinion, there is no difference between the sub-section and the mother section. They are all made up of a large number of ANNs, (like looking for a small amount of gold in the sand)

Now it’s different from before. Due to the emergence of a large number of ICOs and IDO platforms, the number and quality of Bitcointalk’s ANN projects have decreased.

I totally accept that we can appreciate the ANN of those magnificent projects in the past,I want to think about the difference between the mother board and the child board. The items in the token are simple but the items in the ANN are larger?

if you are also an ICOer, it is a pleasure to be friends with you.
