The rig is my main computer, but it also happens when the computer is idling (when im not using it for the moment)

i'll look into the cgminer as well as the p2pool. Btw could it be a hardware problem? i have a 80 plus rated 750 psu and im running one 5770 and one 5870.

No.  Is the rig used for anything else?

If miner runs out of work from pool server it will idle GPUs.  If you aren't using cgminer you may want to try.  It does things to generate work locally and cache multiple getworks.   You may also want to consider p2pool where you run your own pool "server" locally which should prevent "slow server" issues.

If miners aren't out of work (LP or slow server) load shouldn't drop.

Probably yes, maybe cpu is used by the OS and gpu pause for a moment, who know

It only happens evey so often, but frequently enough... maybe once or twice an hour. It only lasts a second, then it jumps back up to 100. Is this normal?!

Thanks in advance!
