If you want to thank the OP you can send him some merit points better than writing a "thank you" message.
If you don't have something valuable to add, it will be better to move on without writing anything, it is annoying to surf many pages without reading any valuable comment.

I have also gotten my answer
Then it will be best if you will lock your thread to end this discussion and prevent spammers to spam your thread. You can do so by following the guide on this thread from meta, it explains how to lock a thread and why it is important.

It looks like nobody noticed that you wrote "commend", probably instead of "comment". If you meant comment (which really makes sense) then yes it is okay to comment. And you already got your answers. But if you meant what you wrote then please clarify.
Yes, commend is what i really meant and not comment. I mean to say something like; "OP, you nailed it, this is what I have been looking for, thanks for taking your time to post this good job.
I have also gotten my answer, it is not needed if it doesn't add value to the post or I should merit such post when I have merit to give.

I think that the best option ti do is to commend only when you think you can add something solid to the post otherwise you can be tagged a spammer. But also the merit system would have been a good solution to this but not many of us have the merits and so it ends up such that people continue to use the "thank you", " good" commendations.

Look like you did not try to understand. It is good if you use dictionary sometimes. OP meant commend only.

Hi,
Will I be tagged a spammer if I read an interesting topic on this forum and decided to commend the OP by writing gratifying post, or should I just read, learn and move on like I have been doing?

As a rule of thumb, you should not post anything in the thread that do not add any value to the post. Forum members do not want you to write the post for just saying "Good post " or "I agree".

Forum already introduced the system of "Merits"  to commend the OP/good post. Since right now I see you did not have any Merit but once you get Merit then you can reward OP with Merits for their post.

Since you are newbie, it will be good if you are familiar with the rules of forum.

If other people can reply to your post means your post is relevant or open for better discussion, commenting for better ideas or being against on OP is appreciated here. But if the post is just to comment because you like it and say to the OP on how you much appreciate his/her post is unnecessary and considered as spam.

If you want gratify to some post, then best method is to give some merit to that post. For this  first you have to earn merit by writing the good and quality post.So other members gratify your post with merit .So keep posting quality and not in quantity.

I don't have anything to add to the topic, but I found it very helpful.

That's what the merit system is for. You need to get merit first though in order to spend some on really good posts that you liked.
Have a look here for a short overview: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/faq-everything-you-need-to-know-about-forum-activity-account-ranks-and-merit-2766177

Just imagine if everybody would post just to commend OP, hell it would be terrible even if it weren't everybody on the forum or topic but every 10th who read a thread. There is a good reason why posts like "great" or "good" are considered spam.

Do you have anything to add to the OP? Because I don't think it's necessary to go to each thread you liked and post something like "wow great post". This would be considered spamming.

But depending on what the post is about, and what you want to say, it would probably be ok. It's not like you can't thank or praise the OP for his post.
