You can change the memory of your card the same way you can change the GPU of your graphics card from AMD to NVIDIA.

Why no one tried to answer the questions in this post?

I'm in a similar position. My card is 8GB RX 580 OEM made by Dell (a rebranded RX 480), a mixture of Samsung and Hynix memory. GPU-Z shows only Hynix.

My answer is you don't change the memory type. Open the BIOS rom with Polaris Editor, you can see 2 sets of memory straps, distinguished by a number 1 or 2 in front of the frequency labels, either
1:frequency
or
2:frequency

Each corresponds to one type of memory, as shown under VRAM list. If Samsung is the 1st entry under VRAM list, then all 1:frequency straps are for Samsung memory only, and the 2:frequency straps are for Hynix only.

You need to use separate timing straps for each memory type, because they behave differently. If you use Hynix timing for the Samsung straps, it won't give best result.

Other than that, I do have undervolting problems. Any attempts to undervolt by AMD Radeon Setting, OverdriveNtool or other tools don't work, voltage never went below 0.988V. Don't know why.

Hi my XFX GTS RX 580 8GB has 2 memory types when opened with PBE.

GPU-Z reports Hynix

PBE reports Samsung on top and Hynix on bottom.

Can I change the card from Hynix to Samsung? Why is there 2 types there anyways?

I have tried about every available Hynix timing I can find and cannot get this thing over 27.5 ish MH/s on ETH. Changed clocks and mem of course too with each timing. Tried undervolt and no undervolt.

Thought if I could switch bios I could try some Samsung timings.

Thanks for any insight.
