Actually different exchanges have different number of confirmation to be completed in order to show the transaction be completed that is why in one you will see complete for a particular number of transactions while in other you will see in process.
Still some exchanges are not instant enough to get updated about the confirmation info so that they will credit the deposit into account balances. I have faced such problems with c-cex.
They require only 2 confirmation for bitcoin depsoits still some times they take more time to clear the pending deposit lists. In between time if you check up to 5 or 6 confirmation also might have happened.
Yes it depends upon the site. According to OP bittrex take 6 to 7 confirmation to deposit bitcoins. And if you see your bitcoins in pending section then don't worry it will come to your wallet but it takes time. There only you see how many confirmations need to deposit. But now it is hard to do bitcoins transaction from one site another site because of a hard fork.

if an exchanger receiving bitcoin by telling you to send to their address, the thing work just like using ordinary address, but you don't have the privkey, that's the main point here.

So I just chose the withdraw option on Poloniex and gave the Bittrex's provided BTC wallet address. Is the transfer going to work or have I just done something stupid?

P.S. The status on poloniex transaction is "complete" however the status on bittrex still shows pending. Is this normal? Any ideas how long this will take?
Its quite normal. There is no problem in sending bitcoins from on exchange wallet to another exchange's wallet. What you need is a valid btc address and no one bothers whether it is a exchange wallet address or a dsktop btc wallet address. It would normally take five to ten minutes to get confirmed.Since transaction fee problem has been almost solved now,it would even get confirmed soon.

Yes there would be no problem in getting confirmed.I have already sent btc many times from poloniex to Bittrex and vice versa. The btc address you mention should be correct and no one bothers whether it is exchange address or wallet's address.

In addition to what some of  my colleague's  here has contributed.  It is possible to make a transfer from one exchanger to another exchanger. I transfer recently from bittrex to poloniex and it was successful in less than 15 minutes.

I transfer this way all the time and it works fine. You just have to wait for the confirmations to complete for the funds to be available.

Just make sure you have the correct wallet address each time. Otherwise you will lose you coins and can't get them back.
This is how most of the people transfer their coins from one exchange to the other exchange and it is the right way to do. If you think the other exchange is more beneficial for you and their services are better than the one you are using, then you are on the right track and there is nothing wrong in it. Only vigilance is required from transferring one wallet to the other.

So on Poloniex, your request of withdrawal is completed, Bitcoin has been sent out but on Blockchain, your transaction from Poloniex is not confirmed yet so that it make your Deposit status is still pending. Smiley That's normal.

I heard Poloniex is not paying anymore
I heard that you don't have to believe every rumour that you hear. Or better:nonsens.
One must use his mind in taking the right decision towards the financial matters and especially to those which affect your life and lifestyle. Sometimes we hear of many things but not everything you listened shall be believed.
Currently most of the people are withdrawing their holdings from the Poloinex because of their attitude towards the segwit. So, better to use mind instead of believing on what others say.

This is quite a common thing. If this service is not available then how come trading serve to be the effective way of making money. If you find some exchnages without these accessibility never use it, because they try to keep hold of your funds and might scam you.

It's normal. Perhaps the confirmation in bittrex isn't yet confirmed though it's already confirmed in Poloniex. You just need to wait for the confirmation and the status will be confirmed in bittrex's side.
Yeah I agree this is a normal activity and commonly followed by many of the traders for the sake of securing their wallet. The only thing that you need in this regard is to be patient because the confirmation time sometime is more than the time we expect it to confirm. This is not a big deal if you want to switch from one exchange to another you can easily do it.

I do this one time on CC-ex and Bitttex and it work however some if my friends tell me if I do this again my account will be banned because of using this arbitrage.
Why? I not see a TOS in CC-ex say they will banned user try withdraw BTC to exchange wallet, maybe your friend have misstake in reading the TOS of CC-ex, not have exchange site prohibited user send BTC to other exchange site, just China in past time have prohibited withdraw BTC from exchange site to anywhere, just can sell it to CNY Smiley

Yes it's normal and yes it'll work, that's what I did from my Poloniex account and transferred my funds to my Bittrex account, was having doubts with Poloniex trading site so I decided to transfer it to Bittrex. Though sometimes it takes some time for it to transfer but it'll work, you just have to wait.

Most, if not all, traders do that. It's pretty basic to transfer from one exchange wallet to another especially if you're thinking that it's not safe anymore or if you're the kind that buys cheaper coins from one exchanhe and sells it for more in another exchange. I constantly transfer btc from polo to yobit to bittrex and previously to crypropia.

Yes it is possible when you are trying to arbitrage. Bitcoin wallets can receive any incoming funds from another address regardless of who owns it. Though just to keep in mind, you need to pay the most appropriate fee for the tx to get it confirmed in the next block so as not to miss any price swigs when you are arbitraging. Best of luck.

The pending status of the transaction is normal, this depends on the network but does not take much time since the transaction fees have been paid.
Once the bitcoin address is correct, you will receive your bitcoins, but sometime it will come late it depends on how much fee you paid for that transaction. If you paid a high fee or at least mid level fee, you will receive your coins within few hours. If you low fee then it will take a long time. Somtimes your bad luck the transaction will not confirm it happens for many bitcoin users. But now I feel this issue is solved let wait for some time you will get your bitcoins.

🖤😏
Just reading the subject of this thread, I thought something else like moving bitcoins across exchanges but in off-chain mode.

There are exchanges which are allowing moving cryptocurrencies/funds to another account but within their exchange by using account-name and/or by providing codes. This helps to prevent lots of hassles like procedures while withdrawing, waiting time for approval and more importantly saving tx fees.

If exchanges allows moving funds to other other exchange and gambling sites in off-chain mode, I believe there could be lot of conveniences a crypto user may enjoy.
But why not implement such function by LN? because it's practically the same thing right? it will however serve not just the exchange and casino users but every body, and there is this problem with the exchanges to trust each other when it comes to large amounts and when small transactions start accumulating to form a considerable amount which makes this system vulnerable to abuse and theft unless it's implemented on the source code of Bitcoin.

I think it's possible because exchanges like poloniex and bittrex has those functionality as long as you give the full details like the wallet address that has been provided by the exchanger. This is just very normal it shows pending cause the transaction is still confirming so dont panic and just patiently wait for it, im sure it will get confirmed in 5-10 minutes. One of the benefits in using an exchanger is you dont have to pay high transaction fees just to confirmed it faster cause if you use exchangers to send btc it will get confirmed quickly unlike web wallets. Just be careful not to input an wrong address.

That is very normal because it just shows pending because the wallet may not sync to the blockchain record that fast and just after 5-10 minutes, I think it will completely show to your account. That is normal in most of the exchanges but always be careful because some of the common mistakes of transferring bitcoin to another wallet is wrong address so double check before you send some bitcoin.

Yes, it is going to work – when you provide an address, it doesn't matter where it is from (an address is an address) as long as it is the actual address which you are sending to.

The status on any exchange shows whether the transaction has been sent to the blockchain or not, it doesn't show if it reached its destination. It varies, depending on the speed of the confirmation and the number of confirmations needed.

Grab the transaction id and search for it in a bitcoin explorer as mentioned above.

If your transaction is not appearing in the block explorer, open a ticket with Poloniex.

If your transaction is not confirmed then wait a bit.

If your transaction has more than 6 confirmations, open a ticket with Bittrex with the transaction id.

A BTC transaction needs at least 6 confirmations before it arrives at its destination.

Enter the BTC address that you sent the funds to into this page https://blockexplorer.com and see how many confirmations its received
