I believe that buying anywhere below dollar $10k is a pure steal considering the possibility of the growth in the long term so I don't think that it is too late to get involved with it through the investor point of view. However, the pace of growth has increased multiple times in the last 2 to 3 years. We are still in the development phase and things are still getting settled so in that sense I would call anyone even if he is getting involved today is the early adopter.

I know you already got alot of good reply's but im going to give you mine anyway because i already typed it out and maybe it can help.

I definitely dont think its to late to join into crypto i actually think we are just getting started. There are lots of good ways you can get in and get a feel with little to no money. I started with very little disposable income and was able to build up a good portfolio within a a year. Just keep hitting the forums and learning you'll make it eventually.

I don't this it is to late, but it is no longer the wild west.  There are now some regulations in effect with more to come.  The box for huge gains in my mind has closed.  Can we make large profits if we choose wisely, I say yes.  My biggest concern is the scammers and hackers that are lurking ready to take whatever we have earned through illegitimate processes.  I try to participate in one or two airdrops and bounties every day,,,,,so I am still hoping.

The chances of us getting 10000x returns... maybe thats over. But significant gains are definitely still possible. I started with 70 dollars in June last year, up to around 2k in total now. My biggest leap was due to getting into a very profitable ICO in the start. (Electroneum) which I subsequently dumped most of it and move the money around well.

I think 2018 will be absolutely insane, there are still major gains to be had. If  you learn more and understand things better than the rest of the crowd you are at a major advantage.

If we look at the total marketcap of cryptocurrency it is still a tiny market compared to most others, we still have plenty of room to grow.

But to me, I am also very excited for what this technology will bring, I am happy to be part of it even during a bear market. We should always remember the core objective of bitcoin and not look at it just as a dollar value. If Bitcoin achieves its goal then a dollar value is completely irrelevant.

You should jump in with what you can afford to lose. I can assure you that if I took a loan I would not have been able to hodl through the last bear market. Be smart about it.

Nope, it's not to late, in year/two it might be to late in terms of smaller gains. But right now, it is not to late to get into crypto but of course as usual just be careful what you are buying in. If a newbie I would also like to advise you to get in few smaller projects instead of going all in on 1 big project. Less risk by doing so.

Its a growing world and if you can set up some mining farms; you would be rich in next few hours.

Just... no. Anyone who is thinking about building a Bitcoin mining farm: you should know that it takes immense capital, lots of man-hours in labor, and constant maintenance to run a mining farm. There is big speculative risk involved. And a few hours? Try a few years -- even if you invest heavily.

It is early yet - blockchain is in its infancy. How many people know what "blockchain" means? How many are using it?

Now imagine when only <1% had mobile phones - or when only <1% used internet. We are there. We're still early.

I think we're a bit further than that -- a recent survey revealed that 5% of Americans own BTC. But I agree. We're still very early. We're probably in the late 70s for microwave adoption or the early 90s for cell phone adoption:

https://i.imgur.com/BqUbS6H.png

Still lots of upside left.

Even if 100% of USA owned bitcoin - we are early.

I mean. Yes, probably some countries like US, Korea, Japan have higher than 1-5%. But I am talking about the whole world. Still most countries are like 0.000...%

55% of people in the world uses Internet today. 65% of people in the world uses a mobile phone today. But less than <1% uses crypto - this is how early we are.

Lots of amazing things to happen!

Those of us who haven't purchased any crypto before, is it too late? Should we even bother trying? I have read the market was falling lately but it seems pretty pumped already. I wonder if there is any room to grow anymore.
Its not too late to invest into bitcoin at this time, bitcoin  is just starting to power up, ride on the train or you will left behind.  If bitcoin  goes up altcoins follows.

The market is now at its peak, the blockchain technology will be introduced into everyday life, but more than half of the world's population does not know what that means, but as we know technology is always a step ahead, so now Sameo is interested in this topic!

Fear of missing out... I’ve been there. When a lot of people went in something good then they get a lot of money or rewards, and you? Crying and saying to yourself “should’ve done it earlier like the rest of them”.

This should not be the thinking if you’re dedicated in the world of cryptocurrency. Why? First crypto will not stop there, there would be another season, another time, and another opportunity. Second, studying the basic principles is the key, you won’t think like this if you did. Lastly, another guy will come in here crying and has the same feeling as you now, the next thing you know, you’ll post a comment in their post saying.... “Fear of missing out? I’ve been there”

Not to worry, there is still plenty of room left for growth. We are pretty much still at the beginning. What you want to do is to look for good projects that aim for trillion dollar markets. E.g. Debitum Network is aiming for one to fill the $2.6 trillion SME credit gap in developing countries. This while projects such as Veritaseum is aiming to enable peer-to-peer capital markets. Trillion dollar markets = huge opportunity.

I don't think so. Most of the old altcoin price are so high now. But There are many good coins like Waves, Ripple, ETN which will raise very soon. Also there are so many new coins are launching everyday. You have to do research about them and  invest in it.  One day, It will give you a good potential.

No one can realistically predict when you should buy, if they could we would all be mega rich. I am a newb too and my only advice (which seems obvious is sell high, buy low) this may seem really obvious but when you first get started it’s easy to see the numbers all going up and buy as you ‘don’t want to miss out’ only for it to then drop. I would advise you to spend some time looking at the charts for the last few weeks and come up with a plan at what stage you will buy/sell/re-buy. Or if you are planning to just Hodl for ages then the fluctuations won’t make a lot of difference in the long run....

Market is very profitable at the moment but the most important thing is in which coins/token are you going to invest. And why are you going to invest in crypto.

The big lesson all of us have learnt during the last days is that bitcoin is not only a cryptocurrency, it is a life style.

The key is to learn a lot everyday and listen to veterans.

It's the beginning of something very huge and you are welcome, but remember do not invest more than the quantity of money you can loose if things go worst

for a trader, any price action is equal to profit if the price is falling try to study the retracement or when the price will change the momentum. a falling price actually means you can buy the coin/crypto for a cheaper price just study how trading works any volatility in price is profit that you will gain.

I am in the same bus as you LOL.

If you are ever going to get crypto now is the time. It may be risky but only invest what you can afford to lose, that is always the mantra.

I think now would be a great time to buy in. Yes, the market has been falling, but I think it would be better to get in now because of that. The prices are much much lower than they were. I think they will go back up soon, so if you buy in now.

I have stressed this many times, but it is never late to enter the cryptocurrency market because it is just getting started and this is just the beginning of the big era!

Electronic cars are great, aren't they? How many years have they been around? Too many, right? How many people use them? Not too many, right? Imagine one day oil shortage becomes a real problem, the prices immediately increase and see what happens with those cars. Their demand will rapidly increase hand in hand with the price.

Most of the cryptocurrencies are available in limited amounts (it is 21 million for bitcoin). Imagine they are all mined one day. What will happen? You are right, with the extremely high demand its price will jump to the moon.

Ask the question again: is it late to start cryptocurrencies? I think the answer is obvious!  Wink

It is never too late to jump on the train but the market parameters needs to be taken in consideration. As above was said, todays market situation can be a great stress to one while for others can be a great starting opportunity.  Only thing is that there is much more projects around and you need to invest many time to detect the one you believe are going to be successful since many of them will come to the said end sooner or later, and same goes for ICO’s.

I don't think so. Time may be one's greatest friend or enemy depending on the situation. On the case of Bitcoin and the rest of the sprouting altcoins, I believe if we invest now it's not a problem at all. YES, IT MAY HAVE BEEN falling lately, but I guess that's how it really goes. It has its lows and definitely HIGHS. Can't wait it reaching to the moon!!!

Hello, everyone!
FIrst post here, but had been reading a lot from this forum lately.

I had the same question as OP.

I bought some BTC in the past but just for some transactions and not for investing or trading.

But now I want to learn more about alt coins and try to make some money out of it.
I know it's not a 'get rich in one day' kind of deal, but I wanna try. I want to learn and grow on this market.

Thanks everyone for the answer on this post and good luck on your journey!

It is never late, when it falls - that is the best time to buy!

The weak minded people will give into their fears and start selling when the prices goes down - which is pretty much now as BTC is hitting a new low with $7.5k Use this moment and buy some coins - at the end of this year when BTC crosses $50k am sure you will be thanking someone,

It isn't late for buying, mining, investing - you just need to jump right in and stay invested, it can go further down too, but in time it will come back up. Invest an amount you are comfortable with and stay invested for the long run.

thanks,

Those of us who haven't purchased any crypto before, is it too late? Should we even bother trying? I have read the market was falling lately but it seems pretty pumped already. I wonder if there is any room to grow anymore.

It's not too late, it's too early.

You are probably right - the current downtrend may continue for some time. It may be too dangerous to buy now.

It is never late to buy cryptocurrencies. As of bitcoin, the price is relatively low now, so if you risk and believe the predictions on bitcoin reaching to the moon, now is the right time to buy and store some.  Smiley

I risked once and that made me rich  Roll Eyes Good luck!

many would tell that it is too late for the new comers like us to join this industry. I tell you, me myself is also afraid of that thought but as far as i research and observe there's a lot of room for new comers like us to improve. if you didn't notice, a lot of professional and RICH personalities is starting to acknowledge this virtual currency in which might makes you think why? yeah, it's true that the coin price is so expensive now that an average person can't afford. BUT Cryptocurrency is still moving which means you can still earn something. you might only be able to invest a few of what you have but that "few" might get BIG someday if you only know how to play in this world of Altcoins. the point is, it doesn't require us to invest a lot of money so we could earn some. no matter how big or small you invest, it still depends how deep is our knowledge in this industry for us to survive until such time where we could say we've achieve something. even those persons who's been in this industry for such a long time are still doing their own research and still trying to learn new things so they can keep what they achieve or grow even bigger on what they are today. so. my friend as a fellow newbie i just want you to know that you're not the only one who's afraid of not achieving something but what is more frightening is the fact that we still have the chance but we didn't do something. good luck mate !

Crypto still has lot of potential to grow. if we are in total 3 to 5 trillion total market cap then it will be late. but still better.

so in these days 500 billion market cap is best time to invest in crypto. good luck

Better late than never. This is the quote that I remember during my formal schooling days in college. If you are still breathing then therefore there is still hope in these system of Bitcoin. And I came to realize that this is true in application to real life situation. Well in bitcoin system, there are many reasons to continue on venturing this system. It is not too late. Most of the members here were still in active of participating in posting threads which means that these members are having good profit from these system. So I guess as a newbie, It is not too late. There are rooms to grow. It is just hard work and discipline and for sure there there is still enough room to grow. And that is my positive opinion to these bitcoin system.

I was talking exactly about this on reddit a couple of weeks ago. My concern was about the timing that we got in. Too late, with bitcoin at its ATH. That was a seriously bad move for me  Grin but as I thought, a couple of people suggested that we're not here for the Lambos and gold digging. We are betting on a form of technology that could change a lot of things that we don't even realize about now. We are the famous "early adopters"!! Just on verge of new that will bloom in the next five years from now!  Wink

I don’t think it’s too late to buy cryptocurrencies. Remember we are still in the early days of this new technology. I think it’s only about 9 years old. There is room for the cryptocurrency markets to grow. Just do good research to make sure you buy coins that will have potential to survive and will show some good profits in the future. Buying now is a good chance to get a decent price.

If you are able to buy the any of the major ones, then do so. There are also a lot of promising new ones, but that's more risky, but also more profitable in case ICO becomes successful.

Dude there is no term as "TOO LATE" in crypto world especially in exchange because crypto is not stable it goes up and down if you see it pumped already just wait for that time and it will go down again, Professionals in crypto are always happy if its going up and down why? because they always said that "Sell High Buy Low" and i think that's their motto here.

We are in a stage that can be compared with .com bubble from 2000. Like in that times people think that that particular technology can solve everything. I didn't at that time, it won't be the case also now. We are just exploring the possibilities; most ideas will turn to be not viable, others will succeed and a lot of them are simply scam. There a lot of dead horses that people are betting on right now, but there are some champions too. So, you are definitely not late to this party, it is just getting started. But don't expect that everything that you invest now to bring you big rewards. You will definitely loose some of your invested money; hell, you can loose them all. So keep that in mind. Only invest the amount of money that you can afford to loose.

crypto is still on a downward trend, so you have the chance to buy in each time it drops. i would set buy limits for btc at 8000, 6000, 4000, etc... you cant time it eactly when the bottom is

I've recently come to realise that, technology-wise, we're still very much in the earlier stages of development.  What we're using at the moment are effectively the foundations of something larger.  There are plenty of advancements to come once layers are built on top.  While no one can guarantee that means a healthy return on your investment, I'm reasonably certain you're not too late to the party.  But I will stress that Bitcoin is categorically not a "get-rich-quick" scheme.  It's likely there will be some dramatic price swings along the way, though, so note that it isn't for the faint-hearted.  As others have said, don't invest what you can't afford to lose and I'd add don't leave your funds in a webwallet or exchange unless it's a small amount you don't mind losing.  And if you do invest any large sums, make sure you understand all the security implications.  If it does turn out to make you wealthy, you definitely don't want to lose it.

Well, What if you say the same thing after few years?

Better to invest now than living in this regret and staying away from it.

When you believe it is the next big thing why not to be a part of it. Yeah you might not get your hands on  a lambo that early but when bitcoin skyrocket to 1 btc = $1m
think about that  Grin

It's never too late! My friends recently started mining, they have a dozen farms, and it will not stop. If you do not take into account the extraction of minerals, then my friend earns on stock exchanges and ICO, so my advice, if there is a desire and time, then get down to business =) !!!

It is an extremely difficult question, one that can be answered accurately only in retrospect. I can recall that huge bitcoin fall of 2011, from $32 to $2. Almost everyone, including me, thought that it was dead - but look where it is now. I could have bought enough coins then to make me a millionaire now, but it is hindsight.

Personally, I think (and hope) that it is not over and that there will be another pump. However, the situation is now more complicated because there is a multitude of coins. I would not place all bets on a single crypto, BTC or anything else. And a very important advice already mentioned:

Anyway, rule 1 is: do not invest what you cannot afford to loose.

I heard about people selling their homes and possessions to invest in bitcoin in 2017. Don't do this. This is absolutely irresponsible.

Too late for Lambos?  Wink Just a joke. It all depends on why you want to invest. Do a lot of research first of all. Don't spend more than you can afford to. Don't FOMO (fear of missing out) Read..Read..Read..Read.  You are in exactly the right place to learn what you need to know. Good luck!
