Compile your list and then ask someone on Default Trust to review it and tag them if they are convinced that it is an abusive use of the Merit system.

As no action had been taken on the reported members, I will consider your suggestion. By asking you mean sending them a PM ? I am just confirming so that I do not break the forum rule of sending unsolicited emails.

I meant by posting a thread on the Reputation board. Things have moved on quite a bit since I wrote that and I think now that you'll need evidence that the accounts are alts as well as abusing merit for anyone to care.

Personally, I think the most genius thing about the merit system is it keeps trolls too busy farming accounts to cause much trouble.  Fantastic way to address the issue.

The majority of users are abusing everything, abuse of earning opportunities by farming accounts and posting garbage resulted in merit system.

You're wrong about this. The majority of users are not abusing everything, or anything for that matter in terms of the forum, anyways. Read up on the Pareto distribution and you will understand that this is literally improbable beyond a doubt. 5% of Criminals commit 95% of all the crimes commited, then almost nobody commits crimes. This adds up to a picture that is no where close to the majority. There is almost never a majority of people contributing significantly towards creative endeavours of individual production.

Let me add another group here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/steverogers-1791093
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/dimplit-1795327
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/timoshani-1763944
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/nastyabor-1299802

They are sending , receiving merits among each other.

All have the same website:    bountyplatform  and three of them are using same signature as well.

There are other similarities like registration date and last login time.

As you can see on my hard work Cool https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.33177768

Atleast 25% of this week merit is from/for abusing.

How do you check the merit sending logs?

Merit abuse is happening here for sure and currently most of the members are posting cases where merits are sent in bulk. Members sending 1 or 2 merits to their alt accounts are playing smart and hard to spot.
That has probably happened on this forum people who greed in merit to be rank up even it is really prohibited they do cheating here.
Just keep on posting maybe merit source will give you if they spot you good quality post.
Cheaters are always there, even though in online games or anywhere cheaters always exist. Hopefully, theymos find a way on this that merit system that he implemented not getting abused.

Many profiles may be involved. I am sure that if I give just one hour on this, I can point out at least 100 such more profiles.

This will die out fairly soon as they will run out of Merit to abuse and most of them are not capable of writing anything likely to get Merit legitimately.

The majority of users are abusing everything, abuse of earning opportunities by farming accounts and posting garbage resulted in merit system. finding them like this, will never be enough because moderating these cases is a waste of time. theymos didn't want to stop every single one of them from ranking up, that would be impossible. forum staff are not here to do that forever.

Find the ones receiving merits from merit sources and then selling them or giving them to their alt accounts.

If we see the activity here, carefully,  a lot of members are involved in merit abuse at small scale as well. I was checking recently merited posts and came across one such case.

Profiles involved:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/rosilito-1100353
His merit summary : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1100353

He gave and receive merits from the profile: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/heartseed-1100122

Both the profile are registered on August 08, 2017

Other profile that may be involved

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/spiritguardcharles-1501634
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/josejosejose-1501624

Both these registered on December 23, 2017

Well, i checked the four accounts and i would say that your suspicions may be correct, however, it may be also a coincidence for the first 2 accounts +/-.
I saw someone sent 1 smerit then the other return it back in another topic in three minutes. They may be friends or alts. It is up to mods to check but i wouldn't give them a negative trust.

Considering the number of actif users in bitcointalk, trading merit is very low and easy to bust.

Just take a look at the reputation section and  you will find that this is currently rife. I'm assuming this is happening now due to it being a month? or so since the merit system has been introduced and people didn't want to give it time before they started to abuse it. Luckily if someone is abusing the merit system it's somewhat easy to recognize if it's done on the mass.
