Thanks for voting to everyone who bothered to cast the vote. What I did not expect is a tie Smiley
From comments I judge that relevance of MintChip press appearance for BitCoin community should be judged by:
  • success/failure of MintChip are in,
  • MintChip strengths/vulnerabilities are in,
  • MintChip marketing vapourware is out.

Although it is doomed to be hacked within 24 hours of release, it is still useful in the sense that its failure emphasizes the positive aspects of open source (non-black box) approaches. If an article accurately points out pros and cons of Bitcoin vs. MintChip, then I think it's relevant; otherwise, it's FUD.

Good point, I'm optimistic that the whole exercise will be very positive for bitcoin seeing as mintchip has referenced bitcoin repeatedly in their press releases (suggesting that bitcoin is the benchmark digital currency/payment system).

Mintchip is digital inflationnary money, backed (and thus controlled) by the canadian government. It suffers the same flaws that are currently destroying the world economies. Not worth mentionning anymore

we kind of put the mintchip thing to bed a few weeks ago, they'll need to do something new/special/different for us to care again I imagine. I mean, the top user-submitted "idea" of use for mintchip on their own site by a longshot was "use it to buy bitcoins" ... (as mintchip is supposedly irreversible, this could be true heh)

You are WRONG!
I see quite a lot of repeated announcements on various news feeds about MintChip. Some of them compare MintChip to BitCoin. I am curious whether people are interested in tracking what is happening with MintChip?
no, no interest at all. its not even close to bitcoin. its just stupidity.
