Do not bother for any reason unless you want to practice with mining altcoins.  I use Minergate for some fun things, but it is just for fun.  Mining is to difficult to be profitable at this time, In my opinion.
Yes but I do not recommend you to mine bitcoins or altcoins with your personal laptop as it wont make you the expected amount of profit. Due to more electric bills plus it will destroy your hardware (GPU) and make you regret one day of doing so which I have already experienced  Angry

much better to mine alt if you really wanted to use your laptop as btc and eth will harm your laptop too much heat it will overheat the built in video and profits is not that much if possible much better to buy mining rig instead or make investment buying btc or eth.

I don't think mining is worth it unless you have a nice set up, maybe invest in some miners? But just using a regular PC? I don't think so...

Most forms of mining take investment at this point.  To mine BTC it's going to take an investment in a asic.  Ether is possible you could do on a regular PC if it was set up for gaming and had nice card, most are not going to be this though. So most will be investments.

But many are building PC rigs to mine Ether so it can be done, and is being done.   And profit is there if done right.

nope. I have the same parameters and im mining in minergate.com differrent cryptocurrencies and im earning 20000 satoshis a day ( converted). It isnt worth it to harm my pc for that

And in a lot of cases it is not the "harm to pc".  It is laptops that really are ones that people can harm pushing hard, desktops you could... but chaces are far less they just have a ton better cooling in most cases.

The thing where it does not make sense is electricity in most cases on regular PC.  As if it has good GPU mining Ether is possible to turn a profit.  But regular cpu and cheap GPU are going to cost more running then they make.  So a lose due to electricity.

Not really ideal for bitcoin mining. No computer in my opinion is really that suitable for bitcoin mining. If you are going hardcore with mining, I suggest you getting some proper hardware.

Also with the difficulty increases and halving... Not worth it mate.

Typical desktops or laptops will never be able to mine coins at a profit now. Even CPU based coins which are made for regular computer mining usually take more electricity to get them than they are worth. And your computer will also die faster so...

computers are not designed for mining. if you want to save your computer then do not do it. as great as your computer are the same. you will lose a lot of money to replace the faulty computer at some later date. do not ever try !!!

Yes computers are not designed for mining, but bitcoin is designed as an online currency, and you can't have it if you don't have computer.
So, computers are used for mining, as long as the specs of your computer suits for mining.

I think in your computer hardcore speculations i think you can mine but it will not be profitable.Or even it profited maybe just a small amount if you will focus on bitcoin mining in your pc.Because of high electricity bills due to because you need to open it all day for 7 days to profit good.If you will go mining at your pc ill recommend to mine other altcoins like ltc eth and doge and convert it to bitcoin on online trading site

You need a very high Spec Computer to be able to mine coins

I think the computer spec of op indicated in his post is somewhat profitable, but not that too high. Let's say it's profitable because he can still from it
even a small amount of it.
But if you want to be more profitable when it comes to mining you really should invest on it.

Try mining altcoins which at present has been experiencing rise. So that you could easily do trade with bitcoin and grab good profit.

Mining of altcoin could be probably better then bitcoin..
first you can't min with your computer as it is very low quality and doesn't support mining materials, second if you do mining you'll not get any profit. because bitcoin mining need so much electricity.
mining altcoin is better because you can easily sell them to bitcoin.

for educational purposes it's perfect!

Just join any mining pool and see how much you get after a few blocks are solved.

I would suggest that you join different mining pools(3 at least) and stay 1 day in each .... see witch one gives the best output and then decide.

All the people here would say it's not profitable .... but only you can decide if it is or not. imagine you make 0.00500000BTC, you keep them and after a few years BTC price is 250.000$/1BTC that will be 1250$ if the price will go that high

No one can tell if it's profitable or not .... because no one knows what the price will be and everyone is referring to the actual price witch in my opinion sucks.

When BTC will be used worldwide by everyone then 0.1BTC will be enough to live a few years without problem.
the fees will be 0.00000001BTC because there will be billions of transactions everyday.

I would say just go and mine some coins Wink

No, it is not very profitable mining btc with pc but maybe you can mine a new altcoin

There is not really some "new altcoin" that makes it worth it.  Sadly most new altcoins are total crap and pump/dump.  There will be miners who mine them and hope to cash in by being early..... but it honestly is a lot of luck.

Instead of new altcoin honestly only chance with specs above is Ether.   But we don't know card to know if it works good with it.  But OP's only chance I think I see is mining Ether and holding it.

I think using your computer in mining bitcoin is not a good one because it can damage your computer components especially your Cental Processing Unit. If you have a extra budget i would suggest to buy a mining rig because it's more profitable and safe than using your computer in mining because mining rig is designed to mine bitcoins.

For me, ETH is the best alt coin that you could mine since it is the next on line with bitcoin and still it is not late for buying and investing with ETH.
And the specs of op's computer I guess, that is profitable for mining ETH.

can you share more detail ?

Why do you need more detail than this? It is clear from what he posted that Bitcoin mining will never be profitable with this. We use specialized Asic chips now to do the mathematical calculations for Bitcoin mining, and CPU's and GPU's will yield ZERO results, because the difficulty are much too high for computers to mine.

You could visit the mining section of this forum, and see if you can mine some Alt coin with it, but the value of these Alt coins are so low, it might not even pay for your electricity once you done. ^hmmmmm^

like the word in bold, he wanted to know in detail the type of VGA used for mining. maybe if he uses AMD R9 280x above, it is good to do mining and it can be profitable. but not mining bitcoin, altcoins certainly more profitable.

minergate is just waste of time. one of my friend refer me to minergae mining app, I used it for almost 2 months, and in two months I only earned 0.00001 bitcoin(with all altcoin minings) I don't even confirm about minergate's legitimate or not. because I haven't earn enough to cashout and check the system at least..

The only profit coin would be like ETH which someone mentioned above.

Or you can see if you can buy a set of GPU cards for good prices its still worth mining since you already know this coin is going to be launched with coinbase when they finalize things if they do.

Dude you far behind. First was CPU, then GPU now asic and more. Asic are hundreds of times faster then CPUs even the the first ones were at least x5 more powerful then the fasterest CPUs and that fast become x25 and more ! Now asics are thousands of times faster then CPUs and farms link huge rows of these monsters next to one another row after row. So you really have no chance. So you see how it works ? You just arrived at the drag stripe with a push cart whilst your opponent has a souped up mustang that snorts fire and bellows smoke from its tires.

With ethereum GPU mining has come back.  So we can no longer say no GPU mining.  CPU I would agree is gone at this point. It is really the only coin out there currently worth it to mine with GPU, but it is profitable at pretty high electricity prices even.  Difficulty is growing pretty decent lately though.  So if you buy multiple cards... if you ROI without selling at end is hard to say.  Also new GPU's come out pushing down prices of older stuff.

But his one radeon GPU might be worth running ethereum for fun.   Depends on what card if it is able to handle it/worth it.

Your Computer can't compete with big mining business using lots of machines with cheap electricity, latest tecnology. Those days where people mining at home are in the past now. As people said before in the thread, you can try mining alt-coins, but I don't know if it worth anyway. Best way is to use BTC as a normal coin. Most likely no.  What model AMD card? You don't go into enough detail's.  You might be able to do ether mining as many have, but one card running on a single system is pretty not-efficient so likely not going to be profitable.

GPU is still a hard game but Ether mining made it possible for some with cheap electricity out there.
