Found this explanation from exodus wallet.

Quote
Ethereum (ETH) and Ethereum Classic (ETC) are two separate currencies. However, the addresses are identical in format, so it's very easy to accidentally send ETH to ETC and vice versa. If you do this by mistake, your transaction will show confirmations, but your funds will never appear in your wallet.

In this case, transactions are irreversible and you are liable with your mistakes. Better to always recheck the address as those two cryptocurrencies have the same format of address.

As others have said, your Ethereum is lost forever.

I have the same case with you months ago, it was on a gambling site though, was talking to support that time, but for unknown reasons, I got confuse with the color of the logo, it was ETC that I withdraw upon. So I talked to the support and was wondering why it hasn't been deposited to my eth address until we found out that I sent it to etc address. It's just about 100$ of my winnings, yeah big and expensive lessons for me. I talk to the exchange that I sent my supposedly eth, and they said they can't do anything about it. They will try but their minimum is like 1.5 BTC to at least recover. But that is not the case for me.

I accidentally sent 10 ETH from my ETH wallet on Coinbase to an ETC (Ethereum Classic) wallet on yoBit.net back in 2017. This is a common mistake and I know it is possible for the receiving exchange to retrieve the ETH and put it in the correct wallet. The support team on yobit.net has not responded to me in all these years I've been trying to contact them. Is it possible for Coinbase to reverse the transaction given that the Coinbase exchange has the private keys to my ETH wallet from which the ETH was sent? I read somewhere that if I sent it from a private software wallet to which I have the private keys and not an exchange, I would be able to do this. Since Coinbase the private keys to my ETH wallet on Coinbase maybe they can do this. Or is it not technically possible for Coinbase to do it and only possible for YoBit to do it? You can view the transaction details here:

I've been contacting YoBit support for a few years now with no response.

that's a big mistake mate wherein there's no way you can recover it because ETH is for ETH only and once you send it to a wrong address it will be lost forever.. And for sure coinbase team behind is out on that problem, what i mean they cannot do anything to recover your money as they followed only what's the terms and conditions when it comes using their services.

Chances of your money back are low, unless you ask an experienced lawyer to help you.
The refusal of support to help with your case on the basis of the terms of service is a subtle way that they are actually happy with the mistakes you made.
Yobit is a very (well known) shady exchange, many customer cases are not resolved even though the fault is on yobit's part. Let alone reopening old cases that they haven't solved, they have dozens of new cases with their customers every day.

You can see that its received by this wallet https://etherscan.io/address/0xe3ba981549e4b05748ac29d48b7ea044fbfb26bc
It's been years already which you could say it's lost forever already if you don't have access to the wallet. Where did you got/copy this 0xE3ba981549E4B05748Ac29d48b7Ea044FBFb26BC address?

It's always possible to get it back if Dominik will just find the wallet, it will take a whole lot of convincing.

If I'm not mistaken, before making an exchange transaction, either coinbase or any exchange, there is a notification/note. we are always asked to check the address correctly before we make a transaction. this is very reasonable because every transaction that has been submitted cannot be canceled even though we try to re-confirm with the authorities regarding the small mistakes we made to cancel.

The transaction was permanent and it's only yobit owner aka dominik herzog who will be able to send your money. Im not sure you will ever get back your money again dude. Yobit is very well known as a garbage exchange site and so many people were also getting scammed by yobit. I doubt yobit will try to give back your money since the transaction was irreversible and then coinbase has nothing to do with your transaction.
Yobit is a party who hodl your money for years.

All I can say is brother, you paid a high tuition fee. Each exchange will remind you before the transfer that this is the transfer address of ETC, please do not send other tokens.
Learn your lesson and move on. Come on!

Wow. It was an amazing experience.
Incidents like yours, I also found in my friend. From this experience, I can answer that this is not the fault of Coinbase or any other exchange. And from this experience, caution is very important to us, even though the private key, we hold.

So sorry but when dealing with coinbase wallet, you should understand the gravity of what you are into. they never reverse transaction. you are in control. i personally think that coinbase is centralized. so many people has loose their funds this way and they were never returned. same thing happened to me last year when I made a transfer of an ERC token. the custodian claimed that each token has a different erc address. that my token is lost forever.

the yobit team is the key holder for you. if they can help you you can get your money back but if they don't respond it looks like you will lose money.
try an alternative method by contacting the yobit team via social media or the call center so that it can be processed immediately. Good luck

I actually caught one of their admins in chat. He said to wait for the support team in 2021. They are laughing at me:

Unfortunately, there is no way you could reverse your transaction back once it's confirmed. It's just the immutability natures.

The only hope you have is only from the Yobit side because It's technically possible to get the ETH back, but sadly, Yobit has a bad reputation and probably won't help you in this case.

You sent your ETH from Coinbase and Coinbase processed it for you. They completed what their service provides for customers.

Fault is one you, sent ETH to ETC address on Yobit exchange. You have only one chance, contact Yobit support and request them to retrieve ETH for you.

Only Yobit have private key of that address but the bad thing is Customer Support on Yobit is bad. You can assume you lost your ETH forever. Because support ticket can not help you with Yobit exchange.

Even you send it to other exchanges, with better customer service, they might not support you. They won't take risk to expose their private key just to claim ETH for you.

I believe coinbase are out of hands on that mistake. First of all its you who did execute the transaction so it was a mistake by a customer. Also if it was sent already then the transaction is final  they cant just simply undo what has been did on blockchain even though they are holding your private key.

You must have read their TOS for their services. Thats why everyone isnt advise to use exchange wallet.
