Yeah! This worked. Thanks so much to everyone for the tips!

The only think I did different was import the private key into metamask, not trust wallet, and then add the Safemoon token details to it.

Much appreciated !  Smiley
Yeah I'm also happy you was recovered, with metamask you can also easy to set the network like bsc becuase ussually setting up by default. but if they didn't, the user should go to custom RPC and set bsc network with adding New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed1.binance.org and set ChainID to 0x38.
with metamask you can import the mnemonic seed also, not only private key. than can be auto detected if you have the balance.

Is this a recoverable situation ? or just a dumb lesson learned?
Maybe you have to try your self,

1. Open https://iancoleman.io/bip39/
2. Turn off your internet
3. on BIP39 Mnemonic enter your recovery mnemonic seed from coinomi wallet
4. on box coin select ethereum
5. scroll down on derivation path select bip 32 and choose coinomi, ledger

6. on Derived Addresses below you can see tab address, public key and private key

7. install trust wallet, then select smart chain, then private key

8. paste your private key which you send to the address.

You got your recovery seed right? Download metamask app on your androi d phone and import the seed into metamask or trust wallet they support BSC network, I'm later coinomi wallet will also supports BSC network but they just work too slow

I wanted to try 'Safemoon' , so I bought some over at 'BitMart'.  I then setup a wallet on coinomi and entered the token details manually as per the instructions on the site using the contract key

I then transferred out of BitMart and to the coinoimi receive address.

The funds never showed up.  Cry

Then I realized that I had setup the altcoin in coinomi on the ETH network and apparantly Safemoon uses the Binance (BNB) Network.

So the money does "sit" in the address on the BNB network, but does not show up in my coinomi wallet.

Is this a recoverable situation ? or just a dumb lesson learned?

Tks.

The question here is whether your coinomi wallet supports the BSC network? if it doesn't support, then you have to use other methods such as importing your coinomi wallet via Metamask and then adding RPC Binance Smart Chain to your metamask so you can see your Safemoon token there by adding it via smartcontrac, or you can also check via https://bscscan.com/ to see if your token is there.

I believe it is still recoverable.

The reason why it doesn't show up on the wallet is that as far as I know, Coinomi does not support to manually add BSC tokens. So there is no way that token show up on the wallet.

You can extract your ETH privkey, then use it on other wallets that support BSC compatible wallets. Take a look at the below link about how to extract your private key from the Coinomi recovery seed:
https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000009717-what-is-the-recovery-tool-and-how-do-i-export-my-private-keys-

Also, here is another reference to get you through another step:

BSC chain is compatible with Ethereum address.
Haven't used coinomi for a while but you surely can export the private key for your ethereum address and after that, you can import a bsc chain wallet in coinomi or other supported wallets and use the same private key as of your ethereum. i.e. same private key would yield same address on both Ethereum and binance chain. And your coins would already have arrived on your wallet.
