Actually, one of the main reasons I got NEO back when I did was because I actually thought it was going to be a lot of dapps on it. I knew about neogas, but I was never really convinced it was something to hold NEO for (so I still have NEO not staked!). The fact that gas got so hyped kind of threw me off as well, to be honest.

My trust and belief is actually much more in WAVES... and they have the same reputation problems as NEO (just by being Russian as opposed to NEO just by being Chinese). Definitely big future holds.

-snip- There are still people I see shilling for it and probably have stashed thousands of it while its name was first Antshares, the price was just $0.15 during that time.

Successful Coin after rebranding. When this project first started like you said the coin name is AntShare, they already had a lot of big investors and I saw it when they re-branded to NEO, the price went up high though just the manipulation from the whale of NEO.

Hidden gem can be but also vice versa, because today many altcoins don't even have real products, the valuation is only based on which exchange is listed and the price is compared with ICO's price or initial price.

I guess I'll just wait and see what the future holds, i only invested $180 AUD in NEO and Gas so it's not a huge amount of money to lose if it tanks or drops to zero Smiley

I'm in the same boat as a lot of folk here and hoping that Alt season will arrive eventually whether that's this year, next year or in a decade!
Then you don't have problem with your investment, when losses you won't be stressed.

First off a disclaimer: I have a small amount of Neo and Gas, (10 and 30 respectively) so I'm far from being a whale  Smiley Grin

What I didn't realise until this morning is the fact that Gas has a circulating supply of 10.1 million and a total supply of 17.1 million yet it currently costs $1.06 USD (down from it's ATH of $106 USD)

Current price seems incredibly cheap given the total supply, any thoughts on whether gas is a good investment/gamble?

I think the only reason Gas was so expensive at that time was from all of the hype around NEO. Now that that has cooled down a lot, it would be very hard for Gas to ever get to that price again. I think NEO is the better investment at this point. At least you could earn some free gas while sitting around and waiting for the price of Gas to go back up. However, $106 Gas is certainly possible again, just not that likely in my opinion.

I honestly don't know much about NEO, I just invested a small amount in it (and gas) as it's in the top 30 according to CMC and is way down from it's ATH although it got pumped recently.

I'm not familiar with dpos so I'm not sure how or why that would impact the chinese market.

I've got to say I like the NEO wallet and how fast and cheap transactions are Smiley

Neo produces GAS, so i am not sure if it's more beneficial in the long run just "stake" NEO because i haven't checked the numbers but i will.
And dpos is just more centralized way to secure the network then for example pure pow model. So there's a possibility that China could try to shut down those nodes if they wanted (if their locations are known to them).

The fact that we don't know who these delegates are and what they are going to be doing makes the NEO more centralize to you and the rest of us. However, because the Chinese are seemingly making this project like a bit of a mainstream to them, the price of it shoots to the moon during bullrun. There are still people I see shilling for it and probably have stashed thousands of it while its name was first Antshares, the price was just $0.15 during that time.

Yes, GAS is cheap now but if you want to invest better get NEO. You'll earn GAS by holding NEO but if you can't avail buying it.

That will be your choice and to have an idea of how much GAS you can earn buy owning a certain amount of neo, you can visit this website:

It is cheap because it has already experienced a terrible backlash of supporters. Gas was popular in the past but after a few years of people continually asking the big deal of the coin and having found none, they eventually leave. NEO is the same. It was also very promising in the past but then it was left out in the competition and now NEO is already ranked far lower. If you are looking for cheap coins with very high ATH, go to the top 10-20 coins.

Lot's of people shilled gas to me back when it was on top, but with a current market situation you might have a point. I am not fan of neo because i am not a fan of dpos in overall, and that can be a real problem especially for NEO being Chinese.  But as NEO is highly marketable for masses, cool brand and people eat that kind of stuff up the gas price have a good change to rise by speculative investing. I am unsure how will that play out on the larger time frame though.
