We are in 2022 mate if you haven't got the 1080ti yet It will be better to get a newer graphic card like 6600xt AMD, also remember that you won't be able to get a brand new 1080ti so they will be used, be very careful where you buy your cards, three used GPUs died on me in 2021 after just few months of mining with the cards, I prefer brand new cards

I had 3 1080 ti in 2017~2018
It was a best, launched in Mar 10th, 2017 and you can make profit, almost 5 years after

Resume: if you find a cheap 1080ti, in good conditions you can make some profit.
Been running 1080ti since 2018 so gone through all the miners and ETHpill and dumped it for the --mt command in Gminer, as much more stable IMO.
I have tried phoenix , T-rex and Gminer and best results with Gminer combined with a slightly lower dev fee compared to T-rex.
--mt command has 6 settings compared to the ETHpill " on or off ", I can achieve higher overclocks and super stable.

Presently the GTX1080Ti is better for mining ETH and TON coin, you will earn roughly 2.56$ to 2.4$ mining these two coins, gtx1080ti ETH hashrate is 43MH using memtweak or ethlargement pill and you will get 2.4GH on darkcoin algorithm mining TON, good luck

The GTX 1080 ti is really good for Ethereum and Raven if it is your only option, meaning you can get it cheap and fast.I have one of those EVGA FTW3 1080 ti and it does 43 Mhsh at 170 watt of power which is somewhat more compared to more modern cards but I still like it.

It just need a program called EthlargementPill (yeah you can laugh but that is the truth) and it makes it goes from normal 37 Mhsh after tuning with MSI Afterburner to 43 Mhsh.

Core clock +100
Memory clock +650  to +700
Fan about 75% and you are good to go.No extra configuration needed, just install the latest driver.

If you pay a high electricity cost then this most probably is not the card for you,you can try the RTX 3060 ti at 115 watt doing 60 Mhsh as the most efficient card right now in the market.

Gtx1080ti are mining beasts mate you don't need any supper configuration to use them for mining because almost all popular mining software supports ethlargement pill, I use minerstat and hiveOS for this cards and they work wonder the expected hashrate is from 43MH to 47MH

Thanks a lot. Does this mean AMD is better than NVIDIA, in terms of price, electricity and hashrate ?

I'm also considering RTX 2080 ti. I already got a RTX 3070 rev 1.0 which does 60 MHs on ETH.

I just gave an example to show how efficiency are between generations of cards
I'm not saying brands AMD vs Nvidia, but models

The example of 6700xt is better in electricity, hashrate but in price I don't know, maybe you get a super cheap 1080ti and it's better even less efficient
You should consider your electricity rate, capacity to install new GPUs on your rig etc

3070 v1 is an excelent card too, 60Mhs easy

If we talk in a generic way, I prefer brand new cards, with warranty and better resell value, but we have to consider the price, if you post here the price and conditions of a card you're thinking to buy, we can help you better.
In good conditions and good price, even old RX 470s, GTX 1060s can be a good choice.

6700XTs dont take 130 Watt. More like 100 Watt.

Can you measure the power of a 6700 from the wall?
Mine here is consuming something like 130w, please don't consider the power miner or OS shows to you

Hi, I have 5x 1080 ti for ETH mining and I can guarantee they're great, but there are a few things you must consider before buying.

1) They get 40+ MH/s as other cards do (RTX 2060 super, 2070, 2070 super), but power consumption is higher. They draw 170W even with good tuning, that is 30-40W higher than other newer cards, so if electricity cost is a problem, be warned

2) 1080 ti price is good and maybe roi (return of investment) is faster, but this is a 2017 model. When you buy 5 years old used cards, failure probability is higher and this can definitely affect the roi

3) We don't know for sure, but ETH mining is likely to end this year and 1080 ti was great for daggerhashimoto algorithm, but probably won't be as good with new profitable coins (ERGO, FLUX, RVN...). I'm not talking about performance, it's more a matter of efficiency (performance vs power consumption)

I'll give an example, 6700XT hashrate is 47Mhs on ETH, consuming 130w on the wall while 1080ti will do 42~43Mhs with 180~200w

Here you can find about profits and hashrate: https://whattomine.com/coins

You can mine not only ETH but another algos

I don't know if it's worth for you, depends how much are you going to pay, remember that is an used card, more than years of use, if you find a cheap one, maybe worths
There's no special configuration to run, the only thing is power, card will consume 180 to 200w

Hi there,

I have been reading a lot about RTX 1080 ti and it appears to be providing a reasonable hashrate compared to newer generation GPUs. It appears to be capable of delivering around 43 MHs based on comments I found in this forum. Is it a good idea to buy 1080 ti GPU? Would it work with standard installation or does it need any special configuration to get it working for mining?

Thanks
