Yes, As we know most of us store cryptocurrency in wallets stored on mobile devices and With iOS offering better security features and lower possibility of malware, Well the question arises whether one should buy iPhone to store their crypto or if android phone enough for this??

And if using a phone only in standard way while having a wallet, then its pretty the same. Both operating systems have pros and cons. I'm an Android user and I once stored all my Bitcoin portfolio on the device. I have never been hacked before. And that's because I practice common senses. User is the #1 reason for security breaches. To answer your question, despite being a loyal Android user, I'd say iOS has better security. As the OS is closed source, hence any vulnerability is hard to discover.

Well I do not store any of my bitcoin on mobile devices. I just think this is too risky for being a victim of a hacker or of some other type of attack.

From my perspective, IOS are weigh better and faster than android phones, the only thing android phones are good at is long life span of battery. Generally it’s been said that iOS devices are more secure than android. As for which is better for hodling bitcoins, I would chose android over iOS because android supports Electrum wallet. Phones / anything connected to the internet is NOT secure. And you should only store money that you can afford to lose in a phone. Since they keep finding vulnerabilities.

Never heard that iOS devices has been hacker before. Never heard that if iOS device is locked, then someone was able to unlock it and get inside. Some geeks only managed to reset or completely erase information on iOS devices in the past (the era of jailbreaks). Yet again, that info can not be restored later, when you set previously erased device as a new. The only way to steal something from iPhone, is if its owner store private keys and passwords in Files>iCloud drive. Yet again, those files can be accessed from infected PC, so this is not a direct iPhone hack.

Sorry if it's not clear for you, what I meant the best one is hardware wallet where you was mention it before, either you use iOS or android, you still carry a same risk if you use it for your daily driver and connected with internet.

You already stated that Cold storage is the best for Bitcoin, the point of this discussion is to point out which one of Android or iPhone is better secure for Bitcoin storage.

Although based on statistics it is very easy to say that iPhone is more secure but I think the device is as secure as the user behaviour. A security conscious Android phone user won't have a problem with his stored Bitcoin and a carefree iPhone user will end up being exposed to thieves.

Both Android and iOS wallets are connected to the internet so it cannot be said that IOS mobile wallet is more secure than Android. iOS will provide you security for your offline documents but since the wallet is internet based.  And since the entire fund's safety depends on a private key, you must first ensure that your private key is stored in a secure location. And if your private key is stored well and securely then your crypto will be safely stored everywhere, no matter if it's Android or iOS.

IOS will provide security that iPhone will not be easily hacked but iphone will never provide security that your private key will be safe if you don't keep it safe. And if someone gets someone's private key then of course he can transfer all the funds in that wallet  Then it doesn't matter whether the wallet is on iPhone or Android.

I am an Iphone user though I also have android solely uses for extra internet using because I know that Iphone security is more effective comparing to android phones but this does not mean I can rely my funds and security in those phones instead like what you have mentioned? it is safer to have separate off line wallet for safest storing of your funds.

For iOS security it's better than Android and this is an old story that can't be denied, it would be safer if you had a Crypto wallet like bitcoint on the iPhone because it's safer with minimal risk of hacking, not all applications can enter via iOS compared to Android which can sometimes damage the system from as a result of third-party applications that are installed automatically, but again it all depends on the user.

I have my own Wallet on my phone, but I don't have it with a lot of balance, I have about 10usd in bitcoin, and I have it as an emergency measure, I know a friend who was eating at an ice cream parlor and when she left, they robbed her, among the Things that were stolen was her phone and she lost the private key and everything she had there, so these things can happen and I would be very angry if something like that happened, apart from that she did not store her private key elsewhere and she had 200usd, the key He had it privately in his email and he does not remember his email password, things got complicated for him.

I am using both of them. However I am keeping most of them on my android tbh. The reason is simple, I’m using iPhone for daily routine while the android on which I store bitcoins has got mycelium wallet. Now, thing is I only turn on the device when I need to trade those particular bitcoins and nothing can really hack into it. Since I’m keeping that device as plain as I could. For example, no installing of any sort of app, no internet surfing and all it has mycelium and it only connects when I have to use that app. This makes it even stronger. While I’m using iPhone everyday and might be downloading and surfing from unknown sites I’m keeping bitcoins away from it. However, I know one thing for sure as far as antimalware is considered, iPhone stands good chance.

Your personal consciousness concerning securing your bitcoins has more to do with you than to do with the kind of devices you use. Yes IOS may be offer more security than the android devices, but with a poor habit concerning keeping your bitcoins safe, your bitcoins still remain in danger of loss or theft. IOS can improve your security, but personally you have to find out how people who have their bitcoins kept on their mobile phone for years have been able to do so successfully with loss. Good safety practices and precautionary methods will be effective no matter the device you use. If you use an android device, find out how people who are into bitcoins and have android devices have been able to survive, If you use an IOS, also do the same and do not just assume that because you use an Iphone, that you are safe.

Any device which is connected to internet has the chance of getting infected by malicious links, so if you're installed a crypto wallet into an IOS or Android can be hijacked by someone via internet itself. Comparatively IOS is better in terms of providing privacy however there is no 100% assurance that we will be safe all the time so never connect your primary wallet into a mobile device.

I am also using an iPhone and can say it pleases me in every way. But to use it to store bitcoins, I think it's still not safe, nothing is more secure than a hardware wallet or a wallet without a network connection.

It's true that people have different phone devices which is IOS and Android but we can say that IOS has a better app installment due to it has authentic apps than androids where you can't fake an app. False advertisement whenever you click them it can cause your phone to get hacked and drain your assets so from observation IOS has a lot more safety than Androids. Even still turning on the pop ads block your phone can still be prone to a virus.


Let's be honest when it comes to storage both is the best. When it comes to phone features Android is the better but we're talking about the safety and security of our assets so IOS is better when engaging to transactions, investing and trading.

Never EVER store more funds in a hot wallet then you can afford to loose.

I think personally that both iOS and Android are both the same in terms of security and instead of buying an iphone just fr the sake of storing your Bitcoin, then it will be better you rather use the money to buy a hard ware wallet like ledger, I'm not making any recommendations but rather just an example.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that if you follow all the safety precautions, with regards to Bitcoin safety like ensuring 2 Factor verification, keeping your seed phrase save and secure and if you do so, it will go a very long way to keep you safe and secure.

That's true, IOS has better security layers than android, well both operating systems are open source, and even then IOS is more secure why? because they develop their own software and hardware components advantage of this is whenever firmware has to be updated, it is updated under the watch of IOS.

The big reasons for comptonization are, unknown installation of spammy apps by Android, which are present in bulk on the google app store, and developing those apps is not that tough for newbies while it takes time to develop spammy IOS apps, well let's say one has made that app then it is almost not possible to publish them on IOS app Store because there policy and security checks are strict then Android. This enhances security by eliminating the availability of spammy apps in bulk containing malicious codes that could extract your data.

So IOS is way more secure and reliable to store your assets in wallets. But when comparing iPhone with Android, I will also agree that IP is more secure, I am a user of both, and I decided to stop at iPhone. I think iOS provides better security than android, iPhones have been known for better security compared to android phones for a long time.
I tried jailbreaking my iPhone in around 2017 but failed. There was, however a part where I was able to install apps by approving the developer but I'm uncertain if it's called jailbreaking but in the end I had the right to manually verifying the developer rather than it being automatically verifying itself.

Same here I don't think IOS is more secure than Android. Look IOS can still be phished and if the IOS is jailbroken it's prawn to any attack such as malware and viruses.
The same goes for Android if it's rooted. I use a Samsung phone until now I didn't experience any attacks all my wallets are separated and installed in the Knox folder which is secured and can be hidden.

That is not correct. If you set up a wallet on a new or formatted device that is airgapped and never connected on the internet, it has the same security as a hardware wallet, just that it is more difficult to set up and use in a safe enviroment than a hardware wallet. It isn't a hot wallet, a hot wallet is one that is used on a device that is connected to the internet.
If you set up a password, pin or lock pattern in your android device, no one can have access to it if the phone is stolen, for the thief to use the phone, they would have to format the phone which would erase all the existing information and data on the phone. The thief would only gain access to the information on the phone if they know the password, pin or pattern to unlock it.

It all depends on how careful you are with your login details or private keys and seed phrase. I have been using Android phone for since I joined this forum I have never experienced any hack or breached of security on my app which I stores currencies. In case of a phone snatch, not only your wallets but your data is also at risk as anyone can get access to the Android phone storage. Probably yes. I still wouldn't store too many coins in either of them because regardless of the OS they are using, they are both hot wallets in the end. IOS doesn't offer any better security and not prone to malware, you are dead wrong if you think this way, using iPhone won't safe your ass from phishing links when browsing the internet, it won't tell you that a link sent to your email is scam free.

i think its the same. storing bitcoins on android and on iPhone will probably be the same, because basically, the storage of softwallets is based on private keys and passwords. in fact, when you use an iPhone, when other people know that, then that person will also be able to access the wallet that you have. however, I think if it's a malware problem, iPhone is slightly better than android. Besides that, the iPhone also has a system where when your iPhone is lost, you can find it more easily than Android.

If that is really the case, that majority of people are keeping their crypto on ther mobile phones then many are doing it very wrong. Keep in mind that malware is not youyr only cocnern when you are storing larger amounts of crypto on your mobile phone as anyone can take the phone from you and beat the shit out of you to get the access once he realized that you have a mobile phone wallet. I don't get too involved in the technical issues of security systems on mobile platforms, but I see the security issue between them as the same and the problem lies in the user's usage behavior. Some devices from samsung have good quality of security, i assume so because i'm using them.
And I use it aside from redundant ads, I find most things safe, and even if there is a security incident, I'm not sure who will stand out to protect users outside of the government. They equip themselves with skills to protect their personal information.

iOS is stated to be secure than Android as there is limited number of applications available for iOS than Android. For Android quite often we can see list of applications creating security issues and requested from developers team to remove from the smartphones for better security of the device. Non custodial wallet on mobile devices seems to be secure and for better security I prefer to have separate smartphone which have got only the wallets application. Only for transaction purpose I connect it to internet, rest of the time the smartphone will be offline.

No. Both of them rely on the secure chip inside your phone to store the private keys and seed phrases. And that's only if the wallet code was written properly in the first place (which is not even possible on not-so-old versions of iOS and Android). So the question you should be asking is: Does the phone I'm using have a secure-enough TPM chip?

You can have them on your phones, your mobile devices but it should be wallets to store small part of your capital. Don't store all your coins on phones.

Bitcoin is Bitcoin and it is not better or worse in iOS or in Android phone. It's just what operation system is better.

It truly depends on the usage. Both OS does not offer better security if the user themselves aren't practising good security habit. There is no guarantee one OS is a way safer place to store compared to others.

Instead of comparing both of these two, learning how to secure any of the smartphones and basic digital security is way better. And do in mind, that security itself is not just about malware and an OS. Both iOS and Android developers surely compete to secure their own systems.

Even if you give the most secure wallet to a careless user and give the most insecure wallet to a very carefully user you might be surprised that the insecure will provide more security than that of the most secure wallet, what I'm trying to say it that the person handling the device should also be considered not just the device alone. We have some people that have been using Android wallet and yet haven't experienced any issue with it and also some that have been using iOS and also haven't experienced any with it.
I would have chose iOS but because of the slow update it receives I'm going to choose Android and besides I'm currently using an Android phone.

Imho, They are just the same since they are both connected in the internet. Android becomes less secured if it was being jail break to modify system restrictions. The default security features of Android and IOS are both safe.

In the end. It all base on how the user use the respective gadget to secure their wallet. Assuming same user will do same thing on both IOS and Android device that will affect the Bitcoin wallet then I think the effect will be same regardless on how secure IOS or Android.

Most of us keep our bitcoin and crypto in wallets stored in either iPhone or Andriod phones. Even we have an exchanges accounts app on our mobile phones.

Since,  iOS offer better security and low chance of malwares etc, is it better to buy an iphone to store our crypto or even an Andriod phone is enough for this purpose?

Note: We know hardware wallets are the best alternative but here we are discussing about Bitcoin is more secure in iOS or in an Andriod based phone.
