Well, I registered on the new forum and checked it out a little.  Not much there yet; however, I did realize that this forum (Bitcointalk), in my opinion, has something that can't be replaced by anything new.  That something special is: Bitcointalk has a huge chronicle of cryptographic history.  I mean, it is so interesting, to me at least, to be able to read, for example, the evolution of drk/dash and its "instamine" scandal, or words from the great Nakamoto....etc  We have something here that cannot be replaced!

I can easily use both websites. If more buyers and sellers migrate to that forum then it could be big.

I understand their dislike of censorship, but will you stick with bitcointalk - or go to the new forum?  https://forum.bitcoin.com/  Do you think they can get critical mass there?
I think there is no benefit join new forum. So i will choose to stick here.

Here is more than enough to get information, rather than to join new forum.

I know a lot bitcoin forum owner want their forum can turn like Bitcointalk.org who had a lot members and a lot valuable signature campaigns.
But they do not know that bitcointalk.org is the oldest forum in bitcoin industry.

(bitcoin industry? maybe like that.)

They really need to focus and spend a lot budget for promoting their website. Especially they need to find bitcointalk.org weakness.

They've got an uphill battle to get the users in and who's to say there won't be equally bizarro moderation policies? Sig campaigns are a major factor. Plenty of folks have gotten used to the idea of getting paid to post. That's a toughie to give up.

The thing that makje me so active those past times (for a month or two I come more than 10 times a day) is the signatures campaigns I've discovered really recently. I wouldn't come back to a forum unless I've an interest (like my transaltion services, but sadly no one seems to be interested  Sad) or signature campaigns !

If a really high paying signature campaign pops on the other forum a lot of people will join it and thus leave Bitcointalk.org. As for me I'm addict at BTCT  Cheesy !
That would be best. I'd love for the spammers to switch over there where there should be even less moderation and thus they will be able to spam more. If you've read the past few posts of mine, you would know that it isn't just a issue of preference.

Absolutely no.  Near about all bitcoiners are addicted to bitcointalk forum only. So, I don't think so , they will take much interest in joining new forum.

Same here. As most of the people thinks to get some benefits while doing anything on any forum.  But , then also People will prefer most popular one forum , not any other.

there is literally no guarantee about that here too ? just some extensions cant solve the privacy or anonymity issues.
Yes there is. You obviously do not understand what at tracker is. BTCT does not use these, or at least the extension can't detect any of them (in other words then chances that there are some undetected ones are very slim).

could be some private one ?

I planned on signing up there, until I saw your post. I also installed the browser extension and confirmed what you posted. Thanks for the heads up on that matter... I missed that.

Looks like there are 7 trackers but only 1 is actually tracking according to the extension. Other addons that block connections to other sites have also detected some stuff while on BTCT they remain at 0.

I dare you to say that again in 2016.
The design is not a big deal. Other things are more important such as security and privacy. As I've previously stated there are trackers on that forum (detected by extension). There are none here.

Yep, it's much better on BTT forum.

Establishing a new forum takes time. There's a good chance that it will become a good alternative to the current 2 big ones - and that's good.
As we can see, monopolies cause abuse and are totally against the idea of Bitcoin. Competition is really necessary here.
However, I think /r/bitcoin and bitcointalk will always exist and have much traffic, even if the quality of posts keeps on going down.

The information density on this forum is way better compared to the new one. Their new layout is too sparse to be useful. This place has a softer color scheme, appropriate "balancing simple machine" logo and a tried and tested familiar interface. When it comes to discussing Bitcoin this place just feels home! Smiley

What they probably dislike is what they claim has being censored because they dont agree with it but I'm sure they will remove or censor everything else they don't like or agree with. I think people should be free to create and use whatever forum they wish and the best one will surely prevail.

This place has become a total cesspool of assholes.  Way too many trolls and idiots.  It'd be great if there was a place for quality discussion on certain topics.

This is Internet mate. You cannot stop trolls unfortunately. You can't censor them. I mean you can but then we will be accused that we are not open minded, that we are hiding something, etc.

Even if we all go collectively to the bitcoin.com all the trolls will just follow us there!

No. There are several reasons for this and I will not list them at the moment. They've pretty much just copied Bitcointalk (i.e. the sections). Compared to this place, that one is not worth my time.

because of the valuable domain (bitcoin.com) and some high profile backers i guess it will gain alot traction in the next years.
keep in mind that the 2 main news sources (bitcointalk + reddit) are controlled by the same young guy. that cant be a good thing.
so it is good to have an alternative.

Not biased at all.  Roll Eyes

That's another bad thing. Random people getting high positions in a quick matter, and yet you say that bitcointalk can't be good because it's controlled by a "young guy". This young guy has more experience operating a forum (even though I disagree with him on some points) than everyone in the other place combined (judging from a quick look; didn't do a in depth research).

Instead of permitting free discussion on XT - he tried to eliminate discussions on that.
Didn't happen on BTCT. Stop hijacking the thread.

Note: Privacy badger found a handful of trackers on that forum, but that is none of my business.

So you mean someone should go to a new forum just to talk about a subject(XT) which has died already, oh give me a break

You can go to the new forum and extol the virtues of Bitcoin-Core all day if you like.
And the subject of Bitcoin-XT, and BIPs 101 in particular and 100-106+ in general, and software forks and consensus forks and blockchain forks in general, has NOT died.

If it seems to you like it *has*, you might want to consider how you arrived at that perception.

I don't think i want to move to another forum for now
Bitcointalk is still alive so no reason for us to move there Wink
The reason to move there is because Theymos wants to single handedly control the community by declaring large block efforts like BIP101 'altcoins' and burying that discussion.  Instead of permitting free discussion on XT - he tried to eliminate discussions on that.  He did this before.  Mastercoin was a added layer ON TOP of the bitcoin blockchain.  It is STILL 100%. But Theymos didn't like it.  Send it into total oblivion by causing the Mastercoin community to badly fracture.  Theymos single handedly destroyed the notion of packing an advanced layer on to bitcoin because he didn't like it.

The other forum promises no censorship.  They don't intent to control discussions - even when they don't agree with them.  Well, so they say so far anyway.

Although Theymos supposedly banned discussion of XT here I found the wall observer thread in speculation was dominated by XT discussions for months, when it's supposed to be for discussing bitcoin price movements. Nobody deleted the XT posts as off topic, they were permitted to largely derail the thread. The wall observer thread is one of the most popular on the forum and has over 10 million views. I wouldn't say Theymos completely buried XT discussion as he didn't stop it being discussed in the wall observer.

It's a bit pants at the moment but that's just cos it's new and not many posts. I don't really like the fact that they've just copied the subforum structure from here and lifted the descriptions verbatim - get your own ideas, Roger Ver!

More generally, I think it's very blinkered to decide ahead of time that you're going to restrict your information-gathering to just one source. Bitcointalk was the first, and it's still the top of my bitcoin forums bookmark menu, but I have others. So far bitco.in/forum, forum.bitcoin.com, and a combined subreddit of r/bitcoin, r/bitcoinxt, r/bitcoinuncensored and r/bitcoinbeginners*.

Regardless of what you think about any censorship theymos may or may not have engaged in, the simple fact is that he *could* choose to do so. As could Roger Ver or cypherdoc. So, don't declare avenues of information out-of-bounds.

*Thinking of adding r/buttcoin. No, not joking.

Well, I don't consider earning some bits through signature campaigns a job, which for you is totally different I see. To me it's pure fun earning a few bits and spend them on a domain or something else. It's basically getting rewarded for something you would do anyway.

Yes that is basically description about a job, signature campaign is basically advertisement business, where people who join, they are a salesman.

All forums are censored to some extent as they all have moderators. Without any moderation any forum would rapidly be overwhelmed by spam posts advertising viagra and payday loans. I joined a forum set up by someone who thought he could do without moderation, and within a week it was so full of advertising spam posts that it was impossible to find the few legitimate posts.

After moderation of a forum starts there will be a small degree of censorship beyond advertising spam, because there is a fine line between that and legitimate posts. What happens when someone tries pumping the latest altcoin in a Bitcoin discussion there? Will the mods let it derail the thread?

you can talk about Core and XT the whole day on that forum. no problem.

In that case, I will give it a try... I just do not want to join a forum, where the opposite are true and the same things are done. I am not a big fan of either Core or XT, because they

are pushing their own agenda, and both are not in the best interest of Bitcoin in my opinion. I am all for freedom of speech, but I still have my doubts if Theymos intended to block any

freedom of speech, when he banned some people here and on Reddit, when they brigaded the client discussions. Anyways... I will give it a try and I see no reason, why we cannot

support more than one Bitcoin related forum.  Wink

quality, you find here.. I would visit them for that... If I see it is a XT fan club and not a forum to discuss Bitcoin, I will leave.

I wonder what will happen when a load of Core supporters go there, and bombard that forum with Core discussions, if there will still be freedom of speech? That is after all, why most

people moved there.. or so they say?

I understand their dislike of censorship, but will you stick with bitcointalk - or go to the new forum?  https://forum.bitcoin.com/  Do you think they can get critical mass there?

This place has become a total cesspool of assholes.  Way too many trolls and idiots.  It'd be great if there was a place for quality discussion on certain topics.
This is what always happens when you have many participants and freedom of speech. So any new forum could be a cleaner place only in the beginning. And when there are many participants there it becomes "a total cesspool of assholes" like you said.

So why not just stick to old faithful bitcointalk and ignore those you don't like?

I'll stick with bitcointalk.org
There are more active users in here & have many active users in local section Grin

Also, i saw their forum & saw many trolls there & XT fans there
Only bitcointalk.org can be the best bitcoin forum

Did you just mention "the new forum", this site isn't the next Bitcointalk.
And I will just stay at here, Bitcointalk will be the first and the last.

This comes with the territory, more people more trolls. If they got anywhere near the users of this forum it would become a cesspool too. Moderation and maintanance at this level of users can be quite a job.

IMO the only good thing that bitcoin.com have is the domain , so i'am not sure about switching there . when you google anything about bitcoin or issue you have with client the first links are either StackExchange/stackoverflow or Bitcointalk .
